  1. Despite his 1.50 ERA, Lopez has a FIP of 4.20. That's a differential of -2.70, so he's been very lucky to start the year.
  2. I'm hoping the pick at 4 is either (In no particular order): Mize (No way he falls to 4) Swaggerty (They finally get their Benintendi, could be a fast riser) Scott (Very toolsy but can rake) Kelenic (The Sox connection is there) Stewart (Curveball is disgusting)
  3. Starting him in the pen would help preserve innings. I'm not advocating that he stays in the pen all year, I'm just saying for a short period of time (2-3 weeks?) when he is called up. I want him to hit that inning benchmark too. I don't think Fulmer is struggling because he started in the pen.
  4. Question: If Kopech is called up do you want him to start in the pen or do you want him to start in the rotation?
  5. You pull him out of the game so that not hustling down the line/not 'playing the game the right way' doesn't become a regular occurrence.
  6. I think you're being totally ridiculous. Please take a deep breath and calm down. Hahn likes to say that development isn't linear and its true, it's very rare for a player to come to the bigs and be an instant success for a sustained period of time. Development still happens at the major league level. Pitchers need to learn how to pitch against top competition and on nights where they don't have their best stuff. Hitters need to learn how to face pitchers who have control of multiple quality pitches and guys out of the pen who throw 95mph+ The team traded away all of its top ML talent (except Abreu and Avi) and outside of the core young guys (Moncada, Anderson, Lopez, Giolito and Fulmer), the team is mostly full of fringe MLB talent, which is by design. While the window is closed and the young guys are figuring it out, the team can get good draft position, get another top pick and more INTL money to spend to fortify the org's talent base (I know they can't sign anyone over $300k, I'm just saying). I'm sure the players will perform better as the season goes along but this going according to plan. RELAX
  7. I applaud Renteria for pulling out the team's most important player for dogging it in a game where they're getting blown out. Doing things like that help reinforce a work ethic and a culture amongst the players. Moncada will never do that again. I wonder what Abreu is going to say to him.
  8. They're a nice guideline but I wouldn't be quick to compare the Sox rebuild to the Cubs rebuild because everything the Cubs did happened to work out for them and that's just unrealistic.
  9. I don't think his job is anywhere close to being in danger.
  10. Is it just me or is Carson Fulmer really slow on the mound? I would like to see him speed things up on the mound
  11. Times like this really make me miss Zack Burdi so much more. And thank goodness there's an off day
  12. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Apr 18, 2018 -> 03:11 PM) I agree...the AL West top to bottom is solid. The AL Central.....ehhh not so much. While people were criticizing Billy Beane for being a bit of a walking mat in the division recently, he and his FO have managed to infuse a lot of talent into the farm. Olsen, Chapman, Puk, Baretto, Beck, Holmes, Luzardo and Fowler. Meanwhile... Yoan is angry, he's having a solid series
  13. I had the A's being a surprise team this year before Puk went down, I think they're a pretty solid team.
  14. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Apr 17, 2018 -> 12:32 PM) Let him establish himself as a hitter first Sometimes teams will move a player to the OF so that they can focus more on their bat, Bryce Harper is the most famous example as he was a catcher before he was drafted. But... I think Moncada plays a really good 2B but still has a lot of room to improve. Plus if you move Moncada to the OF, who’s playing second? I think Moncada will be fine. As Rick Hahn says, development isn’t linear and this year is all about the young guys getting used to and establishing themselves at the ML level.
  15. Is it just me or are walks up across baseball?
  16. Really thought that Anderson had a homer there, I wonder how windy it is at the park
  17. That hit can carry the Sox out of this slump but they have to win the game first
  18. It seems like people are forgetting that there are 151 games after today. It sucks that they're in this rut but it happens to every team, regardless they need to get out of it soon. They've squandered a lot of opportunities this homestand
