So I lied in my original post, while it is entertaining and a super fun watch... while there are things I like, I don't like the movie. I will admit that I saw it last night in a real movie theater with a packed crowd instead of an empty screening room by myself and enjoyed it more. I think that if it wasn't for Mark Hamil people would be looking at this movie a lot differently. It just feels like a really bloated first draft of a screenplay. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 07:29 AM) The stuff with Finn should have been trimmed down dramatically but other than that nearly every scene is fantastic. Finn and Poe were both really underused in my opinion

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 11:32 AM) What a nice move by both teams. If people hadn't heard, Piscotty's mom was diagnosed with ALS, so he asked to be traded closer to home so he can be near her. That's what I was referring to. Its great that the Cardinals did this.

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 10:40 AM) Yeah I do think Cards are doing well for a final push, obviously sucks their Stanton trade didn't work out but if Fowler bounces back that's a real nice OF. If Dejong is legit that could be a fun offense. I think the Cardinals are only delaying the inevitable, I think they should be blow it up

Nicely done by the Cardinals. Glad that Piscotty can be closer to home now.

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 10:34 AM) Sure seemed like his teammates had his back this year with all of that Red Sox mess. I know that the Boston media and fans ripped him and his character to shreds when that whole thing went down but he's an opposing (Latin) player in Boston, what do you expect.

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 10:34 AM) WHAT'S HULLABALOO? IS THAT BAD? GOOD? OH GOD! WE'RE TRADING KOPECH, ELOY, AND ROBERT FOR MANNY, ARENT WE? NOOOOOOOOOO! Frank Thomas, Aj and Hawk too

I hope it's Avi+Rodon instead of a newly acquired prospect

Just got back from seeing TLJ and for something so tumultuous, I feel very optimistic right now. My instant reaction is that despite its flaws and there are many, it's great and really entertaining. My biggest problems is that some of the characters and storylines are absolutely unnecessary because they really killed the film's momentum. I'm shocked that Rian Johnson couldn't think of something better for these characters to do or come up with a better sequence at a particular planet. This movie could've really used one more rewrite. I loved how tight TFA was. Every sequence and character had a purpose/served a role in the story and there was no fluff so it didn't drag. Can't say that about TLJ Another problem I had with the movie was the humor. Star Wars films have always had funny characters and:or moments but they've never came at the expense of emotional moments till now. Mark Hamill was fantastic. Adam Driver and Daisy Ridley are great. Carrie Fisher, wow. The imagery in this movie is incredible, felt very much like watching an old Samurai movie. There are a few sequences in this movie that will be talked about forever. That's all I can say without spoiling it, so I'm going to post in the spoiler. BEWARE

Gary Sanchez is the best hitter on the Yankees. Am I crazy for thinking this?

QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 07:19 PM) He's not allowed to, so why would he open himself up to tampering accusations? My point exactly

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 07:18 PM) True, but one could easily infer or narrow down who it could’ve been I am not going to argue semantics but now we for sure know one target.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 07:08 PM) Hahn saying multiple times that we’d be in on it wasn’t confirmation enough? He never mentioned a specific player before
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 06:56 PM) Why is everyone acting like we didn't already know this? This confirms it

The fact that they're looking at him now means that they'll be going for his services this time next year.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 06:39 PM) I still feel like I must be taking crazy pills that I'm the only one weary of giving Machado who hasn't come close to being a bonafide middle of the order bat a 300 million dollar contract. You're insane. This isn't some guy who is rapidly approaching the wrong side of 30, next year will be his age 25 seasons. He's not even in his prime which is crazy to think about. And don't let last year's slow first half dominate your judgment too much because during the second half he hit .290/.326/.500. This is a guy who's good for 30HRs+ and 90RBI+ every year and has the ability to play an up the middle position at short and he's already proven to be a gold glove level defender at third. Guys like at, at his age, do not grow on trees and are extremely valuable.

QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Dec 8, 2017 -> 11:12 AM) I heard he's only doing travel ball this spring so hopefully he gets out there against some good competition. The Sox should have an advantage with him come draft time with him being so close by that they can probably watch him more or bring him in more often. He played for a Sox sponsored team
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 7, 2017 -> 03:05 PM) That's what we drafted before in Courtney Hawkins, Keenyn Walker, Jared Mitchell, look at how that has turned out. Not saying I don't want great athletes in the system, but give me the good baseball player who knows how to hit a ball very well and competent on defense. The organization and its infrastructure have changed a lot since then, let's not ignore that fact. And just because those guys didn't work out it doesn't mean that they should avoid 'athletes'. Using your logic, the Sox shouldn't go after any left-handed power hitters because Adam Dunn and Adam LaRoche didn't work out. That's not smart.
-
QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Dec 7, 2017 -> 11:44 AM) At this point I would be fine with absolutely any position as long as they aren't picked because of their athleticism. Always take BPA but the Sox system desperately lacks athletes
-
QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 09:16 PM) Funny section from a Sullivan Fangraphs chat https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/jeff-sulliv...phs-chat-12117/ I would totally do that trade I'd do that in a heartbeat. You can patch together those innings you're losing and again, it's not like the Sox are playing for anything

Saw Lady Bird tonight. I grew up the only boy in a house full of women (my mom and two sisters) and this movie nailed the way mom's and daughter's fight and argue. It was surreal. I dont know if it's great but it's certainly very good. Greta Gerwig has been talking about doing a big movie as a writer-director hopefully she gets that chance.

I really like this move for the Sox. I really wanted them to sign Jason Castro last year for his pitch framing abilities, I thought that would be an asset to a rebuilding team with young arms. They seemed to have gotten that guy in Castillo, who has really improved in that department and is a good upgrade offensively over both Smith and Navarez. I think the tandem of Castillo and Navarez could be something that's pretty solid.
