  1. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 12:25 PM) Can't hurt, just wonder if he is flipped at deadline or here to win in '19 and beyond I believe that Collins will be here in 2019. You can have him split starts at C with Castillo and play him at 1B and DH on other days so you can have him in the lineup regularly.
  2. A good piece on Edgar MArtinez: http://amp.si.com/mlb/2017/11/28/edgar-mar...all-fame-ballot A good piece on Billy Wagner: https://www.si.com/mlb/2016/12/19/jaws-2017...ot-billy-wagner
  3. I know its fake but this regards Stanton, I was playing OOTP as the Dodgers and I was able to trade for Stanton for Urias straight up, I also got the Marlins to eat 70% of his remaining salary. I think someone needs to fox the game. *********************************************** I wouldn't be upset if the Sox made a move for Stanton but I'd rather that they eat as much as that money as they can, than give away top prospects. Ideally, the Sox don't target any big time players till next year. Looking at you, Manny Machado
  4. A young guy but I am pretty intrigued by the Braves' Sean Newcomb. He has a good arm but really struggles with control. While he could still be a starter, I think he could be something dominant out of the pen.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 06:11 PM) Wow, quite a difference. Six guys I think come up short. Honestly, I think one day they’ll go “Big Hall”, which is fine by me. In this imaginary scenario, I was split on who to give my last spot, so I gave that last spot to Jeff Kent because he has a higher chance of falling off the ballot than Jim Thome. I would never vote for Manny Ramirez because of multiple failed test and I would never vote for Roger Clemens for how he ruined the life of Brian McNamee and that whole situation. Curt Schilling does belong in the hall but I would never vote for him unless he was in danger of falling off the ballot. I think Andruw Jones should be in, he has a JAWS of 54.6 which is better than Richie Ashburn, Andre Dawson and Kirby Puckett who are all in the hall already. I am lucky enough to remember him during his heyday with Atlanta. My grandfather who's a die-hard Cubs fan would always watch the Braves on TBS with me and he's probably the best center fielder that I've seen in my lifetime. The guy won 10 consecutive Gold Gloves. There have been three players in the history of the sport who have played at least 75% of their games in CF and hit at least 400 home runs: Willie Mays, Ken Griffey Jr. and Andruw Jones. There are 24 CFs in the HOF and Jones' resume compares well against the guys who are there. He should be in Cooperstown.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 20, 2017 -> 11:40 AM) I’d only vote for 9. Vladimir Guerrero Roger Clemens Barry Bonds Mike Mussina Curt Schilling Manny Ramirez Fred McGriff Chipper Jones Jim Thome Hoffman is getting in this time too. I'd go Trevor Hoffman Billy Wagner Chipper Jones Andruw Jones Vladimir Guerrero Barry Bonds Larry Walker Fred McGriff Edgar Martinez Jeff Kent
  7. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Nov 17, 2017 -> 03:45 PM) And if the bullpen is good we'll probably trade most of it before the deadline. This isn't our year. This year is still for building for the future. I forgot to mention that, good point. We're still in sell mode and we could be looking at another top ten pick at season's end.
  8. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 09:31 PM) Strongly disagree. This is a team that was above .500 in September, and the young guys are only getting better. September is the most watered down month of the season, they were playing against a lot of AAAA guys. So the quality of the competition they were facing wasn't what it was in July or May. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 07:14 PM) If they hold Abreu and Garcia I think there's a good chance they're moderately better. Jiminez looks like he's going to be a monster. Moncada may struggle some but he's here for a full year and that's going to improve offense right there. Hopefully Anderson's troubles are past him and he's a better player. The catchers are decent and could continue getting better. Lopez and Giolito and Fulmer is at least more promising than anything we had in our rotation last year, and we're already used to Rodon being missing. The only part right now that is clearly worse is the bullpen, but you have 100% got to expect we'll bring in some people there, if for no reason other than to try to find the next Kahnle and Swarzak. They trade those 2 and yeah, there's 2 key positions where we're now substantially worse, balancing out the ones where we should expect some improvement. I think they'll score more runs and hopefully get on a base at a higher clip but they will struggle on the mound and the bullpen will still be bad
  9. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 03:54 PM) If we end up in the playoff hunt and he's a liability, we can always trade him or DFA him The Sox aren't making the playoffs, they're going to be as bad as they were this past season
  10. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 12:51 AM) So because he sometimes came off a bit nervous on TV, you didn't like him as a reporter of White Sox baseball. Seems fair. Yeah, you could tell he was nervous on camera
  11. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 14, 2017 -> 05:31 PM) Don’t know if this has been shared yet: https://www.thescore.com/news/1415026 I will get a large tattoo of Putin riding a horse on my left butt cheek if he signs with the Sox
  12. https://twitter.com/DanHayesMLB/status/930148376607444992 I really enjoyed reading Haye's stuff on CSN.com and I thought he was pretty good and really informative on the Sox talk podcast. I wonder who will replace him and where Hayes will end up.
  13. I saw Justice Leauge last night. If you didn't like the previous DCEU films, you'll enjoy JL. It's a Snyder film through and through but you can feel Whedon in some scenes, there's a scene in the Batcave that's very Whedonesque. You can tell what scenes were done during the reshoots. There's a sequence that's been shown in the trailers of Bruce Wayne recruiting Aquaman. It was shot on location and looks beautiful but as the sequence is winding down and Bruce and Arthur are talking, there are a few shots of Aquaman where he's clearly standing against a CGI'd backdrop. I would also say that most of the scenes with Superman were reshoot because you can tell that they digitally erased Henry Cavill's beard, which was really obvious. A producer said that 15%/20% of the movie was reshot. I hated the editing, it really took me out of the beginning of the movie as it was really clunky to start off and it seemed like the first act of the movie could've been arranged better in terms of the order of the scenes to better achieve more flow and rhythm. I read in an article from the WSJ that the CEO of WB mandated that the film be less than 2 hours, watching the film I am willing to bet that he made that demand late in the game because the editing was that clunky. I had problems with the CGI too. I also had big problems with the score because the movie uses the Superman theme by John Williams and Danny Elfman's Batman theme. It just yells laziness to me and it spits in the face of continuity as you're bringing in music from previous incarnations of the characters. This Batman and Superman already had their own themes and motifs, why not use them? That's a conversation for another time. I can't really get into what I liked without spoiling anything but... The movie was very well paced and moved very quickly. It felt like I was watching a cartoon, giddy from start to finish. There are some cool visual sets ups as well. The best part of the movie was by far the cast, they make you forgive all the film's flaws. Each character had a moment to shine but the Flash was the standout. He was hilarious and brought a lot of energy to the table. Aquaman was very cool and had the funniest scene in the film. I'm very excited for his solo flick. It's been the quietest production of all the DCEU flicks so far and I know that people have seen footage from the film. I was surprised at how standalone the movie was and the two after credit scenes are fantastic, especially the last one. Overall, I liked and enjoyed the movie and was extremely entertained by it but seems like it was made to appease people rather than be a great movie if that makes sense. And I realize that a lot of my issues with could've been solved if Snyder was able to finish the film himself but I respect him for leaving it behind to be with his family. What happened to him was terrible. It's hard to jump into someone else's project and finish it for them, I can only imagine that with the circumstances behind Snyder's departure, Joss Whedon faced an impossible task but he managed to stick the landing for Snyder. I wonder if Whedon felt regulated to being a yes man because he doesn't carry the weight at WB that Snyder does. I think the film highlights WB's main flaw with these movies, the suits are too involved and very reactionary. After seeing it, I think that they should've doubled down on whatever Snyder's original version of the film was and put all their strength and efforts into making that great. It felt like there was a better movie somewhere than what we got.
  14. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 13, 2017 -> 11:00 AM) https://mic.com/articles/186033/george-take...-him#.HCW6m5HDz This is the best one yet. George Takei says Russians are setting him up lol This reminds me of when Liberace would sue anyone for saying that he was gay and saying things like his rivals in the music industry and gay men were trying to kill him
  15. Ellen Page posted something on Facebook this morning that everyone should read http://variety.com/2017/film/news/ellen-pa...len-1202612134/
  16. I can see Eloy with the ML team around the time of the break, maybe even a little before
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 04:19 PM) http://deadline.com/2017/11/star-wars-new-...edi-1202204843/ Rian Johnson (director of Episode VIII) is writing and directing a new Star Wars trilogy that is not connected to the main saga. I'm excited about this because I think he is talented and I'm happy they are expanding the universe outside of the main saga on film (Rogue One and the Han Solo movie are pretty damn connected to the main saga) and this also means that Disney/Lucasfilm are really happy with how Episode VIII turned out. This is a great way to get people from talking about Disney's treatment of the LA Times. Shocked that Rian Johnson would tie himself to something for 10-12 years. I know he's only slated to write and direct the first but I think that he would be involved in all three in some compacity. And this ensures that Disney wont rush into Epsiode 10.
  18. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 9, 2017 -> 04:12 PM) Louis CK's is especially creepy given his bit after bit about how men are awful and treat women like sex objects. The best art comes when you're creating from experience.

  20. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 6, 2017 -> 10:42 AM) Thor: Ragnarok was one of the better Marvel movies. Parts of it felt like a Guardians of the Galaxy movie. I really hate GOTG Vol.2. Everything that I hated about it, Ragnarok excelled at.
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 3, 2017 -> 11:45 AM) I think it would be unwise of the Cardinals to expect Molina to remain completely healthy until he is 38 years old. There are a lot of miles on those legs. They also gave him a no-trade clause Disregard, I meant that he has 10/5
  22. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 3, 2017 -> 09:50 AM) Took my wife to the Morrissey show last night. I had a much better time than anticipated. The old guy can still croon. Everytime that I've bought tickets to see him with the exception of Riot Fest, he canceled. Really love the new single.
  23. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 01:36 PM) Where did you see it already? I see there is a 12:20am showing later a the Marcus by me. Someone want to test Movie Pass and go see like a 9:30pm movie and then when the clock hits 12, grab a Thor ticket? haha I work for Deluxe during the day.
  24. I watched Girls Trip this morning for the third time and I think its the best original comedy since the Hangover or Bridesmaids. I really hope Tiffany Hadish gets some Oscar love, it looks like she's gearing up for a campaign.
