QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 11:18 AM) Do you really think the Sox are the frontrunners for Robert? I'd certainly hope so but they're hard to read because the front office keeps things quiet for the most part. The FO should remain as quiet on that front as possible till they have something to announce

I like this move for a lot of reason but mainly I like it because in the early stages of a rebuilding situation, this kind of anoints Tim Anderson as the face of the organization going forward. Plus the guys in the minors see this and have something to work towards.
-
I think that Jo Adell is better than Hawkins at this stage. I could be in the minority, that 2012 class was stacked.
-
I think Keith Law suggested a move to the OF, while I haven't seen him in the field a lot, that has to be something the Sox considered/are considering.

QUOTE (daggins @ Mar 4, 2017 -> 07:03 AM) Investigate 311! Bird Up (dah... Dah... DAH)

In all serious that would be a terrible pick, when you draft a DH first overall or a projected DH. There's a reason why up the middle players are always the first players taken in any draft and the top international targets

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 08:16 AM) If his bat is as good as advertised, he can DH for all I care and I'd still take him 1st overall. Gross

When you see see Logan, make sure you're seated for the very beginning. Saw the movie last night and the hype is real. I can see this getting some awards love, especially Patrick Stewart. Hugh Jackman's best turn as Logan and Dafnee Keene was a scene stealer, hard to believe that was her first acting role ever. Great movie, like a cross between X2, No Country For Old Men and the Searchers. Can't forget Little Miss Sunshine

Robert would be an absolute potential cornerstone for the team as they rebuild. It feels an absolute need in that he's an athlete with a chance to stick in a premium position. The Sox signing him would be like the Red Sox landing Moncada or the Cubs landing Soler Or other examples of a talent rich system landing a generational talent.

I think a lot of people are overvaluing Seth Beer, yeah I've been on the bandwagon for a while (I prefer Gray to him) but let's stop labeling him the savior.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 1, 2017 -> 11:41 AM) And looking back at their careers, does anyone think they warranted their draft selection? Hindsight is 20/20
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 1, 2017 -> 02:48 PM) I really hope the Sox sign him. He's supposedly a premier talent and would definitely be a 1st round pick if he was draft eligible. All it will cost the Sox is money, they need to pull the trigger at whatever price. I'd take him #1 over Hunter Greene

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 09:40 AM) Beer might not go 1:1 overall because he projects to be a 1B at the next level He is a great hitter, but not overly athletic and is pretty limited in the outfield I'm hearing from scouts Very few college outfielders have gone no 1 overall, let alone one who projects to play 1st base Pat Burrell, Darin Erstad, Nevin didn't play a premium psotion

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 26, 2017 -> 07:00 PM) This isn't surprising. Nick Hostetler learned from Schuerholz's Braves. Power pitching and athletes was the model. And guys with really high ceilings
-
Alex from Fangraphs said that the Sox are looking to acquire athletic guys that play premium positions, which is something they lack in their system

All aboard the Brady McConnell train

Sox not attached to any names in Ben Badler's first report from the DR, in which he quickly goes over some of the bigger deals from the island. Lots of players still not attached to a team. Remember Sox are linked to Luis Robert from Cuba.

Will always have the upmost respect Adam Dunn

QUOTE (hi8is @ Feb 16, 2017 -> 02:16 AM) I was able to tastefully squeeze 5 into my orgy signature... it was indeed tough to balance but with some perspective - mission accomplished. As long as each person got a turn in the spotlight, you should be good.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 15, 2017 -> 08:16 AM) I vote for a 6-way banner with Rodon, Anderson, Moncada, Giolito, Kopech, and Collins. Anything with more than 3 people is an orgy. FYI

I haven't been this excited for a Sox season since 2011, maybe even 2006. Yeah, I'm not expecting the team to do well at all, but I'm excited to see how Anderson and Rodin continue to develop at the ML level. And see what guys like Davidson and Tilson can do when they're healthy. I know it's going to be a lean year and at times unwatchable, but I can't wait.

Alex Reyes fails physical, might need surgery
Boopa1219 replied to GGajewski18's topic in The Diamond Club
Very hign on Reyes, I would take him over Benintendi, Moncada and Swanson any day. It's that it's looking like his career might be delayed a bit and hopefully it's a fast recovery -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 11, 2017 -> 12:21 AM) are we trying to compete? This guy would make us good at catcher. We're already good at 3B, SS, 2B (if Moncada gets early call) and 1B. We're OK in LF, OK in RF, horrible in CF, horrible at DH. Good at pitching overall. Hmmmm. You need a good catcher to help your young pitching develop
