  1. I like R1 but I wouldn't say its better than TFA. The characters in R1 outside of Jyn had no motivation, the dialogue was really bad. While the third act is great, its basically a montage of people trying to flip switches.
  2. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 08:41 PM) I read they had to score the movie in about 3 weeks? Yeah the reshoots were so extensive that the previous score no longer worked and they had to hire a new composer and he only had a few weeks to write, compose and produce everything

  4. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 01:15 PM) You're trying too hard. I guess you couldn't pick out a joke if it hit you in the face. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 16, 2016 -> 02:47 PM) Shouldn't we be comparing it to Saving Private Ryan with the realism of the D Day/Normandy/Omaha beach landings? It reminded me a lot of Mad Max: Fury Road
  5. Collateral Beauty is f***ing garbage. Just think of a M. Night Shamalyan Christmas movie

  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 12:19 PM) I hope a WW2 biopic depicts/captures war better than a scifi movie. Star Wars isn't sci-fi, its fantasy. But in all the featurettes for R1 everyone described the movie as a war film, I wouldn't call it that but maybe those featurettes were made before the film was re-shot.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 11:45 AM) You have to admit though, it was pretty awesome seeing the bank heist scene in The Dark Knight before it came out It was. I remember going with my mom to see it, we drove out to the city for my birthday to watch it, I think it was attached to I Am Legend. We did the same thing with TDKR. I think the Dunkirk prologue captured war better than R1 did. Someone described it as nerve shredding intensity and I think that's the best way to describe it. Here's a list of theaters where you can see it at: https://i.redd.it/fdeahkyb4r3y.jpg
  9. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 11:22 AM) Stark on Blackmon: Jayson StarkVerified account ‏@jaysonst Teams that spoke to the Rockies seem doubtful Charlie Blackmon gets traded: "They're only trading him if they get an Adam Eaton type deal." The Sox may have just cut their nose to spite their face? If Houston wants Quintana and the Sox don't want to lessen their asking price, getting a third team involved could get a deal done
  10. Make sure you see Rouge One in IMAX because you'll see the Dunkirk prologue, the first 6mins of the movie. It's super intense and very fast paced. It starts in the middle of a battle and there's some insane aerial footage. The ending is insanely tense. This really sells the 'action-thriller' tag way more than the trailer did. Hopefully it gets released online.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 01:26 PM) On the other hand, dark and gritty sounds fun but it really is weird to have a star wars film that my nieces and nephews can't see even though we have bought them lego sets for it. It's not that dark or gritty, I would take my kid to see it but you should check it out first.
  12. Rouge One is pretty good, one of my favorite Star Wars films. After watching and thinking about it, it really makes a ANH a better movie and the actions in that film more important. A lot of stuff from the cartoons, books, and comics are mentioned. I had to watch it twice but I couldn't point of any of the reshot scenes. And the CGI characters were really done well. Some scenes dragged on and some dialogue fell flat. The movie is slow to start but it really picks up after the mid way point. ESB TFA ANH R1 ROTS ROTJ PM AOTC
  13. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 12:52 PM) Yes, I hope they lose 100 games in 2017 at the very least and wouldn't be disappointed to see the same thing happen in 2018 - although I doubt it will. The way I see it, it's part of the process when you're doing a total teardown/rebuild. What is the point of a rebuilding team having a middle of the pack pick in the draft? There is none. The darkness for a few years will bring bright light to the Southside. I promise you... the dawn is coming.
  14. Some guys that I would like the team to sign are Greg Holland and Tyson Ross. If the Sox sign them along with Derek Holland, they can flip them at the deadline and clean up assuming that they have productive years. Theo and Jed made a killing making these type of moves
  15. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 10:08 AM) I never want to see the Sox lose, but when there is a generational talent like Seth Beer in the 2018 draft class, I'd be ok if they stunk next year as long as they get him. I think everyone needs to calm down regarding Seth Beer. Put the the keg down and take a deep breath. It's okay to be excited about possibly having a very high pick but to be this attached to a player a year and a half out from the 2018 is only setting yourself up for disappointment
  16. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 09:45 AM) Makes me feel like Q is the next one out the door. The Sox needed to sign a starting pitcher (or two) regardless of what happens with Quintana

  18. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 04:39 PM) As I recall, the Sox lost out on Cabrera because they wouldn't take Dontrell Willis. I remember those rumors and going online everyday to see what was happening

  20. Would you rather sign Otani and no LA players, thus hurting your presence in LA? Or would you not sign Otani and sign LA players to keep your LA presence strong?
  21. Get to watch the movie Wednesday night for work (projectionist). A rep from Disney is going to audit me watching the movie, so it should be an awkward time. I'm excited. I'm seeing it on Friday morning at 1:30 and then my partner and I are seeing it on Monday for my birthday.
  22. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 08:15 PM) Honestly, winter meetings should be an all week thing from Sunday to Sunday. I was talking with a friend about the winter meetings and I couldn't agree more. I think they should do it Monday to Saturday.
  23. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 11:13 AM) Franklin Perez is currently their #4 prospect according to the Baseball America most recent update. I meant a top ten pitching prospect in all of baseball
  24. I asked JJ Cooper on Twitter, about his thoughts on Gray and Beer and he said that we can add Brice Turang to that group. Nathan Rode from PrepBaseballReport.com said that Jarred Kelenic is another player that you can throw into that group and said that he would take Turang and Kelenic over both Beer and Gray.
