I want them to take their time with Collins but I think they have to move him from behind the plate and just focus on the bat

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 09:34 PM) Can't wait to discuss some names in the coming months. Hopefully we got a good prospect to fall to us due to some teams reaching on players or not wanting to risk trying to sign some of these guys. Thats bound to happen and we're already on it at Reddit.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 09:35 PM) Why are they tuning him out then? That seems like a new rumor to me. Just curious. I am not in the clubhouse but I haven't heard that they were tuning him out anywhere. But the results are there and in his favor.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 09:31 PM) So what are some replacements for Stevenson? One could be Raul Ibanez. They loved him in KC IIRC. He'd be a great guy to have on the staff. Has also been linked to some managerial jobs

QUOTE (scs787 @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 07:15 PM) I'd love to hear that case be made. If anything, I'd rather have Sparks be promoted. Read a few positive things about the way Sparks worked with Abreu and a few other guys. Look at Sox prospects/young players (position players) before Severson got here and after he got here. Guys like Anderson, Thompson. Look at how Eaton has gotten better each year under him and look at the minors and how better position players are doing here.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 08:05 PM) The org., not the manager, picks the pitching and hitting coaches. Steverson doesn't seem like a bad coach to me. But if they aren't listening to him, whether his fault or not, I suppose they have to look elsewhere. Severson was brought in to implement a org wide system. Look at how much White Sox prospects have been doing at the plate, look at Tim Anderson for example. Severson deserves credit for that.

The Sox have the top pick in the 2017 MLB Draft after finishing the season with a record of 78-84. The last ten players picked with the 12th overall pick: 2016: Jason Groome 2015: Josh Naylor 2014: Kodi Medeiros 2013: DJ Peterson 2012: Gavin Cecchini 2011: Taylor Jungmann 2010: Yasmani Grandal 2009: Aaron Crow 2008: Jemile Weeks 2007: Matt Dominguez

I think that McEwing is gone and that he goes to another team that is currently cast in a better light (like the Braves) as a Bench Coach. With the exception of Coop, I do want to see new blood in the dugout but a case is to be made for Severson.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 2, 2016 -> 08:09 PM) The yearly off season plan thread has begun. I'll give my thoughts on the off season and all of you come up with your off season plan for our beloved White Sox. I for one are all in on a rebuild, so I will base my off season off that. Manager: Rick Renteria Free Agent Signings: 3B Luis Valbuena 1 year/5 million CF Carlos Gomez 1 year/7 million SP Ivan Nova 1 year/5 million Trades: SP Chris Sale and 2B/3B Brett Lawrie to the Boston Red Sox for 2B Yoan Moncada, OF Andrew Benintendi, SP Michael Kopech, 3B Rafael Devers, and C/OF Blake Swihart RP David Robertson to the Texas Rangers for OF Joey Gallo LF Melky Cabrera to the Giants for SP Tyler Beede SP Jose Quintana to the Dodgers for SP Julio Urias, OF Alex Verdugo, and SP Jose De Leon 3B Todd Frazier to the Astros for SP Francis Martes and RP Riley Ferrell RF Adam Eaton (L) SS Tim Anderson 1B Jose Abreu CF Carlos Gomez 2B Yoan Moncada (L) LF Andrew Benintendi (L) DH Joey Gallo (L) 3B Tyler Saladino C Blake Swihart (S) C Omar Narvaez (L), OF Charlie Tilson (L), 2B/SS Carlos Sanchez (S), 1B/3B Luis Valbuena (L) SP James Shields SP Carlos Rodon (L) SP Ivan Nova SP Julio Urias (L) SP Miguel Gonzalez RP Anthony Raunado RP Jake Petricka RP Tommy Kahnle RP Dan Jennings (L) RP Will Lamb (L) RP Nate Jones RP Zack Burdi Thoughts? If you're not batting Gallo in the middle of your order, you're making a mistake.

Renteria exceeds as a manager in two areas that the Sox as a manager need to improve in: player development and fundamentals. In terms of player development, Renteria made Anthony Rizzo the player that he is today. There was serious talk before he took over the Cubs that Anthony Rizzo was nothing more than a platoon player, he couldn't hit lefties and his defense wasn't what it is today. Renteria made Rizzo his personal project and elevated his play. The prospect of Renteris working with the Sox younger players in a bigger role is something to keep an eye on. Maybe Renteris could bring some of that Cubs Plan over to the Southside. Am I mad that Sox didn't go through a proper search, yeah I am. Even if Renteris was always going to be the guy, they should have interviewed some people to get some more info. Regardless of a proper search or not, Renteria is one of the best candidates out there. And I can't wait to see who he brings in.

I think KW is a good baseball man and is way overtly qualified for every job out there but it is in the best interest of bother parties if they separate.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 11:38 PM) Shelby Miller, come on down... You're the next contestant on "The Deal is f***ing Wrong!" I have been in Atlanta for the last series at Turner (pics on my Instagram) but Shelby Miller is involved in one of the Braves worst trades and their best

USA Today: White Sox Will Retain Robin Ventura, If He Wants to Return
Boopa1219 replied to shysocks's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Does the Sox brass live in a different reality than we do because I've seen 4 years of bad baseball and nothing has really improved one season to the next. The Sox are just as bad as they were in 2011. -

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Sep 25, 2016 -> 11:45 AM) Kudos to those who have suggested Gabe Kapler. The suggestion didn't register with me at first, but after doing a little research on the guy, he's a very intriguing individual for an open MLB managerial position. I hope he's in the mix of those under consideration when the time comes to figure out who the next manager in the Sox dugout is! I've been driving the bus for a while, glad to have you on board. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 21, 2016 -> 09:56 PM) I may be done with baseball if it's Buddy Bell. I think it'll be Renteria though. My choices ... a.) La Russa. I don't want an ignorant racist managing my favorite team -

The guy that I have been championing for a long time is Gabe Kapler. Former player, managerial experience, well versed in the metrics, works in player development, understudy of Theo/Maddon/Friedman. -

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 21, 2016 -> 10:53 AM) Chris Bosio. That would be interesting. -
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 20, 2016 -> 09:38 AM) I went on Sunday. Mostly just went for Bad Religion and Misfits. Both were good. Watching the Misfits was a little bit surreal at first. Also saw Rob Zombie, not a huge fan, but thought he was pretty good. He probably sounded the best out of all the bands I saw. I thought he was good too. Big fan.

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 19, 2016 -> 04:40 PM) Did anyone go to Riotfest? Yeah, I saw my hero Morrissey in concert for the first time. I've been buying tickets to see him since I was 14 and he cancelled everytime. He came on stage 40/45 mins late, which is typical Morrissey. I saw GZA, Bad Religion, Method Man and Red Man, Pierce the Veil, Dan Deacon, Descendents, Sleater Kinney and Joey Badass. Andrew WK

Suicide Squad has a legitimate chance at $800M as it crossed The Winter Solider at the box office. Suicide Squad also has better legs than Civil War at the Box Office. Keep in mind that Suicide Squad was banned in China, the most important INTL market for films.

Earlier this year there was a conversation going on about the death of the movie theater, mostly in part to the Screening Room. The conversation is put down thanks to 'indies' like The Witch, Don't Breathe*, Hell Or High Water (just to name a few) which people are going to see and not waiting for VOD. ******************** Our full list of films at the Chicago International Film Fedtival comes out today. We have La La Land, Arrival, Moonlight, Elle, Pronouns just to name a few. Come see them before everyone else does.

Mendoza put up good numbers in the DSL, I think he was batting high .290s most of the season until the last few weeks of the season. He might have hit a wall, but he is definitely someone to keep an eye on. Its either him or Vasquez that was trained by Banana and his kids always hit.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 01:27 PM) There are definitely a few names out of LA that I have never heard of, which is very exciting. I haven't been on the IPL website in a while, so I will definitely look these guys up when I get the chance.

This will solve all the problems, reliever/DH

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 07:59 AM) http://sports.yahoo.com/news/the-legend-of...-001630360.html And a marketing bonanza as well. No, not Tebow. Shohei Otani. The Sox were linked to him during the same offseason where they nabbed Abreu (they were linked to Tanaka too). Otani is not coming over to be a reliever, you put him in the rotation or get out of the (eventual) running. I think he's good enough to pitch in the majors now and the best baseball player in the world, not named Mike Trout. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 08:56 AM) Fall Instructs open next week. This is a developmental league for the younger prospects, and the Sox are sending quite a few of their key prospects to the league. Also some very, very young players - five of them are 16-year olds. Here's a look at who is going and why. I excited to see how the J2 guys come out of this, you always get a better picture of an INTL player after their second go through instructs, like Amado Nunez. I am going to head back west in a month, so I am going to try to hit the complex and maybe see what's going on.
