Just got out of Suicide Squad and while it wasn't great or what I wanted it to be, it was a good movie and a lot of fun, but I wish that I could've enjoyed it because the constant soundtrack took me out of the movie. It's probably the worst use of music that I've ever seen in any movie. Jared Leto was great as the Joker, he really made the character his own and left an impression in his small amount of screen time. I am super excited to see his Joker go up against Ben Affleck's Batman. Margot Robbie is Harely Quinn, Viola Davis's Amanda Waller is the scariest person in the movie and Will Smith just played himself and that's never a bad thing. I haven't enjoyed Will Smith this much in a long time. A mainstay DC character makes his big screen debut in costume and I thought that it was a wasted opportunity but it was awesome seeing them for the first time. The editing is really, really, really, really, really clunky. The movie would get into a nice grove with its cuts and edits but after a few sequences it would really slow down and get awkward, like a chariot with a busted wheel. There were some shots in the movie that (in my opinion) didn't need to be there. Maybe my eyes are more trained and attuned to this stuff but if you look closely you can see where the reshoots are. A lot of them at the third act, watch Margot Robbie's makeup and Jay Hernandez's tattoos. The villain was very underdeveloped, I don't want to spoil anything but it would've been better if they would have fleshed out that relationship and the villain's reasoning of doing what they in both human and monster form. Being a film guy, loved that the movie was shot on film and the colors and overall image is great. Good cinematography. I would give the movie a B- and I'm going to predict it will make somewhere between $650-700M, the word of mouth amongst people is very good despite the mixed reviews from critics. I haven't seen the CinemaScore yet. Stay after the credits. ****** My advice to the execs at WB: Chill the f*** out! I understand that the studio has been having a hard time at the BO for a few years now and it understandable why you would get nervous about a multi billion dollar film franchise but they have now meddled with two DC movies, in Suicide Squad and BvS. Would the Zack Snyder cut of BvS have a hard time of reaching a billion dollars at the BO because it's a three hour movie? Yeah but it would have been praised so much more by people and the narrative around the DCEU would be entirely different. Suicide Squad would have been better if weren't for the studio melding their cut with David Ayer's because the film is all over the place tonally. They keep saying they learned their lesson and are going to get out of their creative's way and I hope so because they can't f*** up Wonder Woman and Justice League, which both look phenomenal.

It's that time of year again...2016 edition

The Sox currently sit at #12, KC and MIL are directly ahead of him -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 10:27 AM) When it comes to debate you can argue about the subject material, but not the subject. The same applies to the organization. What? Either this makes no sense or I am still hungover from Lollapalooza

QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:34 PM) My first post aside ... not trading Robertson and a few of the smaller pieces is asinine though. Waiting until you have the best informed, well made decision on Sale and Quintana (since they are not FA for a while) makes sense. Not trading some of the other pieces? Dumb. Robertson may not be at peak value right now, but I believe he'll net more this year than he will next year ... Robertson's contract may have worked against the Sox

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 04:39 PM) Not happening. They simply won't renew his contract. Same s***, as long as he is not back I am good. And I want them to have an actually search for a new manager and not do what the other JR owned team did when they fired their coach

There's one thing that I want from this season, the firing of Robin Ventura. Too much bad fundamental baseball and in game managing decisions over the past 4 years.

The Sox have gotten better at scouting young talent, their problem is scouting at the ML level

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 03:41 PM) I think the Sox made the right decision in not trading Sale and/or Quintana at the deadline. I think the best time to trade them will be at the Winter Meetings because the upcoming pitching market is historically bad. At the Meetings the Sox can not only get fair value for Sale and Quintana but then some because a team will vastly overpay because of how bad the pitching market is. I know that trades can still be made but I would have liked to see guys like Melky, Robertson and maybe NAte Jones all gone. There is no way that the team is going to make the playoffs, so I was hoping that they would waive the white flag on the season. The Sox are playing for draft position now, let hope that they get back into the top ten Add James Shields to that list

Quintana to the Pirates in a trade centered around Austin Meadows. In addition to Meadows the Sox get back either Tyler Glasnow or Mitch Keller, Ke'Bryan Hayes and the comp pick they'll get for losing Liriano. I have always been really big on Austin Meadows, he can hit for a high average, has very good plate discipline and projects to be an above average defender in CF, although I do like him better in LF because his arm from the outfield is average at best. At 6'3 200lbs, MLB Pipeline has as a 60 runner and he is learning to tap into his power.

Chance The Rapper +8 others concert @USCF
Boopa1219 replied to InTheDriversSeat's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I am so there, they had me at Tyler and Young Thug (That's my best friend). It always bothered me that the Sox were not doing anything with Chance the Rapper, outside of the early season commercials and the hats, there hasn't been much activity between the two. Its glad that this festival is happening and hopefully this is the start of the org getting the change to tap into some alternative revenue streams. But in all seriousness, does anyone else find it funny that Young Thug and Lil Wayne are playing the same stage -
Q to Houston for Bregman, Feliz and Martes?

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 08:37 AM) Justice league and Wonder Woman make it look like the keys of the castle have been taken away from Snyder and put in Geoff Johns pocket. Good for DC That's not true at all. Let's looks at Wonder Woman: Patty Jenkins was hired by Zack Snyder, the movie was written by Zack Snyder (alongside Geoff Johns), Gal Gadot was cast by Zack Snyder. His fingerprints are all over the movie. Justice League looks and feels like a Zack Snyder movie and like the CEO of WB, they learned their lesson BvS in that they need to back off their talent and let them do their thing. And if you want to see the impact of Geoff Johns, he was hired too late to make an impact on JL, WW, and SS as those films were already completed or deep in production. So you have to look at post JL movies (in terms of the release date) like the Flash, Aquaman, which he wrote the story alongside James Wan. And Batman, which he's writing alongside Ben Affleck.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 11:59 PM) I can't decide what has a better cast between BP and Dr. Strange but they're both loaded. That is tough but as fans isn't that a great debate to have.

Thor Ragnarok sounds amazing and going off how people are describing the sizzle reel (and the mockumentary, it finally sounds like we're getting a deep fantasy, epic film that just embraces everything about Asgard and the mythology. Spider Man sounds hilarious. Love the John Hughes take on it, it makes too much sense. GotG2 sounds more out there than the first one and that's great. Brie Larson has to be sold on Marvel's take on Carol Danvers because she gets to hire the director someone said, awesome to see a woman use her star power. Black Panher arguably has the best cast of any CBM, EVER All around GREAT Con from both DC and Marvel

The Dodgers are light on position player prospects, so they might have to get in a third team.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 06:48 PM) Sox liked Trey Ball before he got drafted I thought Ball was a lot better as a position player than as a pitcher coming out, he had a really nice swing and at 6'6 an ideal frame.

I'll trade him for Michael Kopech

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 11:43 PM) "Taking a chance" is fine and dandy... Just not with someone who averages almost 250 strike outs per year. I have no idea where you got 250 from. Gallo is going to do three things at the big league level, he's going to walk, he's going to strike out and he's going to hit home runs. Let's not forget he has legit 80 power. Three-outcome players also have value. I don't care if you strike out 150 times as long as you walk a lot and hit a s***-ton of home runs and last time I checked Gallo excels at both of those things.

Ladies and Gents, Your 2016 Chicago White Sox
Boopa1219 replied to Ducksnort's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If I had to rank the overall talent pool of every organization, the White Sox might be bottom 10, maybe bottom 5. -
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 10:15 PM) Hard pass on Gallo. The dude tries to homer on every swing and those kind of guys haven't panned out with us as of late So just stop taking chances on 'those type of players' because that makes sense. I don't get that logic, I know that Dunn and LaRoche didn't work out like we hoped but that doesnt mean that the Sox should stop taking chances of left handed power hitters.

I can't remember a player of Sale's caliber being made available in quite sometime. When you consider his status on the field, his ridiculous contract and his age, he might be untradable but with that being said if the Sox were going to trade him they would need to get something better than what the Indians got for Bartolo Colon, something totally ridiculous.
