  1. So would you rather have Basallo or Mayo as a headliner?
  2. They need to move the draft back to June. Ever since MLB moved the draft to July, the trade markets seems to much longer to develop and it of course gives teams less time with the drafted players. They should have the draft at the College World Series every year.
  3. The one guy I wanted for the Sox this year. I know they’re rebuilding but they could’ve signed him and flipped him at the deadline to a contender. Would’ve solved many issues for the team.
  4. They should. They shouldn’t be targeting any of these 24/25 players as a centerpiece. No to Kjerstad, no to Cowser, no to Jones. ****** I can see Schultz coming up sooner but for him it’s all about building up the innings base, the Sox should be very patient and cautious with his development.
  5. Is Rookie Ball full season now or is it still half a season?
  6. I’m of the opinion that whoever they take with that pick is the headliner of this trade. Seeing the Sox make a trade like this is refreshing, I don’t think the previous regime would’ve done it.
  7. Here’s a chance for another outside the org hire.
  8. I hope he pans out and I’m rooting for him but it was an awful pick. The Sox badly need some more upside in their system and he provides none.
  9. Aren’t the O’s working out Mayo in the OF? Anyway, I hope he’s the main piece in the return for the Sox. The bat will play anywhere. They need all the power they can get.
  10. Any of these guys good enough to be top 30 guys after signing?
  11. Again, I’m not excited by Kierstad. I don’t want a corner only, 25 year old rookie coming back as the headlining piece in the deal for Cease.
  12. Really good for him. And good for the Sox too, when was the last time a Sox assistant was poached by another team? Especially a forward thinking team like the Mariners.
  13. Getz hiring former Royals in his front office shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. It’s where he worked prior to the Sox, he has lots of contact there. I’m not going to get worked up over a contract/budget/cba guy coming from Kansas City. I’m sure it’s a fine hire.
  14. If the Sox do end up making a deal with Baltimore, I hope they get back Enrique Bradfield Jr as a second piece and I hope they get Baltimore's comp pick in the first round of the draft.
  15. True but the Astros pitchers loved working with him. I don’t have a problem with the Sox getting a veteran from one of the best teams in the league for the past decade. Sometimes it’s nice to have an adult in the room, especially if the adult is a winner.
  16. I like this move. I wanted the Sox to go with a defense first platoon at Catcher this year and going forward regardless of the direction of the team, it’s an easy way to jump start team defense and of course help out your pitchers. The Cubs did this recently with Barnhart and Gomes. With the young arms and reclamation projects the Sox are going to trot out, being strong defensively at Catcher is that much more important. I like how Getz and co have rebuilt the defense of the team.
  17. Vince Harris was my middle school dean’s assistant. He was a good man and involved in all the student’s life.
  18. I agree that they should always take the BPA but that doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t prioritize certain positions
  19. How many of those guys were drafted after 2018? Also the Sox didn’t sign or draft Rutherford and Basabe. So yeah, they need to prioritize drafting outfielders in the early rounds of the draft.
  20. Short Term: Sign Jorge Soler. He’s not the long term fix but they can flip him at the deadline. Long Term: Prioritize drafting outfielders early in the draft, the the only way this is going to stop being an issue year in and year out.
  21. I’m very glad that ND finally backed Freeman when it came time to hire a OC. Love the Denbrock hire. He’s a good coach, he knows the school, and him being a TE coach allows ND to keep all of its offensive staff in tact, but also it fucks over Brian Kelly, which is a huge plus to this move. When he was hired, I said I wanted to give Freeman 4 years to see how he builds up the program, that’s the amount of time it took Dabo to build up Clemson, and I think he and the school are on the right track. ND probably goes into next year with the best coordinator duo in the nation, assuming Golden stays at South Bend.
