QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 26, 2016 -> 11:59 AM) I don't think I could put together a good top 10 yet. 7-10 would probably be average. Mine were not in any particular order. But If I pick a favorite movie of the year it would be between Neon Demon, Midnight Special and The Witch.

I think it's way too early to have this conversation but I'm excited by Tim Anderson and what he can do on the field. Hopefully he can be that face of the franchise player that I feel the franchise needs to pair with Chris Sale, and having a African American player fill that role on the south side of Chicago, would be good for the team.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 22, 2016 -> 08:35 PM) Vinyl scratched. See what I did there? That was a very boring show. I think it has a good chance of having the first emmy winner from a show that's been cancelled. HBO spent so much money on Vinyl that they were forced to delay WestWorld which looks amazing, they had to pull the plug on shows by David Fincher and Steve McQueen, delay shows like True Detective and completely overhaul Lewis and Clark for budgetary reasons.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 10:49 AM) I don't know about you guys, but I'd need at least one of Betts/Bogaerts AND 3 other elite prospects in order to trade the best pitcher in the American League. Totally agree, I need Bogaerts and Moncoda to start in any deal

There was a Rick Hahn led conference call with season ticket holders and when asked about J2, Hahn said that the team is signing 9 players and that includes one 'big expenditure'. I've been scouring the Internet to did out who they are. -
A ton of reporters, bloggers and critics just visited the set of Justice Leauge all of last week and today a lot of news and info is dropping from the movie including the official synopsis people are saying that the day might end with a huge reveal of some sorts. http://collider.com/justice-league-set-visit-video-recap/ http://collider.com/justice-league-what-we-know-so-far/ Even if you didn't like BvS, it's pretty cool that were finally getting a JL film.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 10:38 PM) http://mlbfarm.com/index.php?team=CWS Nicky D used his yard stick to poke a solo shot. J-Fish is 2/4 with a SB, his 3rd in 4 pro games. Zangari is 3 for 3, 2 doubles, BB, 2 RBI. Hitting .267 since his demotion. (Fun fact, just realized he has 29 E at 1B in 107 pro games there.....HOLY f***ING AWFUL) This is his first full year at the position

June 20th Game Thread: White Sox @ Boston 6:10 CT
Boopa1219 replied to GGajewski18's topic in 2016 Season in Review
Man, I really enjoy watching Tim Anderson play. Havent been this excited about a young Sox position player at the ML level in a long time. -
The Sox have also gotten in with some of the big time trainers recently, like Banana who trained Harvin Mendoza, I believe.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 04:52 PM) While they haven't hit the headlines, they have been spending bringing in lots of lower cost players, especially pitchers who are much harder to project at 14/15/16 years old than the hitters are. That is why we are also seeing pitchers that we never heard about getting into our system over the last couple of years. Yeah, they really do a very good job at spreading their money around.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 04:27 PM) I really hope that's true. It's difficult to give them the benefit of the doubt until some of these guys are on full season teams and doing well. They've been really active internationally, despite not going over and they spent every dollar allotted to them ever since the new rules have came into effect with the current CBA in 2012. The fact that the Padres wanted Tatis Jr, is a good sign. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 04:33 PM) Even getting that many kids out of the DSL and into rookie ball is something considering where we were 5 years ago. Its a good indication of the progress they've made

If you're doing a rebuild, who's untouchable/who are you holding on to? I would say that Rodon, Anderson, and my current prospects are all untouchable going forward. You?

The INTL program has come a long way.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 10:46 PM) Drive was better than that, if only for the soundtrack. Could not have gotten Bangkok more wrong in Only God Forgives. I don't think you're going to find more than a handful that enjoyed that particular movie around here. I'll put the over/under at 2 that agree with you. I would have to disagree, I loved Drive but I would pick Only God Forgives over that any day of the week and that makes sense because Only God Forgives is Drive to the extreme. Everything about Drive is taken to the billionth degree on OGF. I really appreciated the man verses God/nature story that it had thought that despite being overtly symbolic, that it did not beat you over the head with symbolism. Drive did have the better soundtrack, but OGF had the better score in my opinion but I wouldn't penalize OGF for not having a soundtrack because a soundtrack in the film would feel really out of place. I loved the dynamic between Julian and his mother. And I could watch a movie/tv series about Chang, my favorite on screen portrayal of God in any movie, sorry Morgan Freeman. The original script is online and its a totally different movie, its more conventional and plays as a straight up thriller. I would like to see Refn do a four quadrant movie, something more conventional and pop but he's craving a nice little niche for himself and building a devoted following in the process.

That episode of Silicon Valley ended on a real down note.

**SPOILER THREAD** GAME OF THRONES ** SPOILER THREAD **

Some of the best cinematography I've seen in a long time. Fabian Wagner's doing JL and he has another big movie lined up. The whole episode was emotionally satisfying on every level. -
QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 19, 2016 -> 05:16 PM) All comes down to player development. The teams that develop players win. Sox haven't done a good job of that for 10-plus years. So instead they're stuck going dumpster diving for guys like Latos, Shields, etc. Things aren't going to change until development does. Yeah the Sox didn't develop Sale, Quintana, Rodon and guys like Anderson, Fulmer and Adams don't look to have bright futures.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 19, 2016 -> 08:28 PM) I'm very pleased with him. He's a reliable mid-rotation starter with zero minor league seasoning 35 starts into his MLB career. Considering his stuff, he absolutely has the profile of the kind of guy who suddenly finds himself in All-Star/Cy Young discussions a year or so from now. And it will take people by surprise because he'll have been around for a while, but the truth is that he's getting his seasoning in the majors whereas most players do that in the minors. Totally agree with everything here. His doubters forget that he just turned 23, basically went straight to the pros and he's only been starting at the ML level for a little over a year. He's been having an impressive season and has made big strides with his control. He has a very high ceiling.

Saw Neon Demon today and its fantastic, maybe my favorite movie of the year. I thought it was going to be impossible to top Only God Forgives but Refn did it.

Optimus Prime/Michael Bay. And partner that comes up to Detroit every few days for a couple days at a time.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 12:11 AM) I'm in love with the song about Mona Lisa. It's funny but its about 30% This is Spinal Tap recycled. The Bin Laden song is genius, I find myself singing "f*** Bin Laden" constantly.
