Fire Robin. Bring Back Ozzie. Do It Now
Boopa1219 replied to sin city sox fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I vote for Rick Flair -
Who says Tim Anderson can't finish developing at the Major Leauge level? He can do just that and still be better than both Rollins and Saladino. I would call him up for the June 7h game against the Narionals.

Is this a serious thread? -
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ May 25, 2016 -> 12:01 PM) Is he related to Bubba? No thanks on the raw pitch recognition, I have seen Sox get guys like that too many times that end up fizzling out. Give me a guy with great pitch recognition and let him try to develop power in the minors. The only reason why his pith recognition is behind is because he spent half his time playing football. Because his time is fully devoted to baseball, his pitch recognition will only improve. Lookup any souring report on Taylor Trammell and they all praise his ability to hit. And he has something you can't teach in that the guy is a freak athlete. By your logic of not wanting the Sox to draft toolsy players, I guess you don't want the Sox to sign any left handed power hitters in free agency either. Just because the sox have had raw position players falter in their system for whatever reason, it doesn't mean that Trammell or another toolsy player is certain to fail. Also keep in mind that this is a new regime.

I really hope that the Sox draft Taylor Trammell. He's a high school outfielder from Georgia and he's 6'3ft 195lbs. He played both football and baseball and had some big time D1 offers but he decided to play baseball only going forward. He's pretty raw when it comes to pitch recognition but he's shown that he can hit and I've seen his speed tool graded at 75+. I think that he will be there in the second round.

QUOTE (Dizzy Sox @ May 23, 2016 -> 05:18 PM) Toolsy outfielders are to KW what rakes are to Sideshow Bob. Can't avoid them, can't stop getting smacked in the face with 'em. Just once, just one freaking time would I like the Sox to spend a premium draft pick on a refined college hitter with an advanced hitting approach. I don't care what position--I've been beating the Collins drum hard the last month but he's not the only one--Nick Senzel would fit the bill for instance. But no, KW will keep trying to achieve some kind of vicarious playing career success through outfielders who look like they should be all-stars but in actuality don't have the plate discipline or eye to hit major league pitching. I have no idea if Rutherford falls into that category--he could be the 2nd coming of Ted Williams for all I know--but the lack of importance the Sox seem to place on plate discipline (which really boils down to having the physical ability to recognize pitch type, speed and location combined with walking up to the plate with, you know, an actual plan in mind) is stunning. Especially when that describes exactly Robin, Buddy Bell and Frank, the best hitter the organization ever produced-all key figures within the organization. If the Sox pick Collins, Senzel etc. I will gladly eat this post. Someone obviously hasn't done their research on Rutherford

QUOTE (bmags @ May 23, 2016 -> 02:39 PM) I get what lillian is saying, but I'd hate us to pass up impact talent just because we previously did not have success developing it. These guys ahve been at it for a few years. I think you can also just get better at your job through experience. You take the best player no matter what.
-
Rutherford is struggling from prospect fatigue. He's been talked about for a couple years now since his sophomore year and he's done nothing to lose his rank as one of the best players in the class. While I personally think Moniak is the better of the two prep outfielders from California, I'd be very pleased if the Sox make this pick.

A few weeks ago, I wanted the Sox to trade for Rich Hill but I came to my senses. I think a team is going to overpay for Rich Hill. The guy has been great for Oakland but he's finishing out a 1 year deal and if you trade for him, it's not like you have the option to extend a QO. And assuming he knows that at age 36, this offseason is his last shot at a big contract, he's going to test the market in a winter with a notoriously bad/weak SP free agent class, so your chances at resigning him aren't good. I think that he's worth one top 100 prospect at the absolute most but if the bidding gets heated, I think Oakland will be really happy.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ May 20, 2016 -> 02:32 PM) Eaton Abreu Frazier Cabrera Lawrie Garcia Avila Jackson Saladino This is a different lineup. I like it and we'll see how it goes tonight. I've been championing having Abreu be in the two hole for the longest f***ing time. Hopefully this is permanent. To optimize the lineup even more Robin needs to switch Melky and Frazier, because in an optimized lineup the cleanup spot is the second most important spot in a lineup (after the two hitter) because it's where you put your best power hitter and you want your three hitter to be someone who makes consistent contact. This lineup just made Eaton better, it puts Abreu in a position to succeed and he'll be getting more PAs because of this. In the word(s) of Rick Flair: WOO I'm Daniel Bryan pumped. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 17, 2016 -> 11:56 PM) I think we add Anderson during the season and Markaikis would look good as an option. I fully expect for him to get the call in the second half. -

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 17, 2016 -> 11:31 PM) You do realize Saladino was a rookie last year correct? I think he deserves some slack. Rollins is 37 and declining, he will never be above 1.5 WAR again. Like I said earlier in this thread, I don't think we should cut Rollins at all but I do think Saladino should get most of the reps at SS. He is going to provide much better defense and at this point I think he can provide better offense. I don't know what fantasy land you live in but Rollins will never be close to his old self of even 2 years ago where he didn't even hit .245 With the week he just had and assuming he keeps performaning at a high level, I think Tim Anderson gets the call sometime within the next 60 days. Maybe right after the deadline. -

Fun time at the park, you know minus the awful call and the lost. -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 16, 2016 -> 06:56 PM) I dunno. I doubt he'd call Michael Bay an auteur. If filmmaker has their own distinctive style and an aesthetic all their own, then yes they're an auteur. When Truffaut coined the term, he brought it back to the saying, "There are no books, only authors." And all that matters is the compete body of work of an artist. Meaning, if you can identify curtain themes, traits, visual style and craft. Then that person is an auteur. An auteur is also one of the four types of directors, it's someone who writes and directs their own scripts. If you think Michael Bay has his own aesthetic, then you think he's an auteur.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 16, 2016 -> 06:52 PM) It's not sacred for us man, it is for you. Any time you like a movie you call the director an auteur No and I have had that word jammed down my throat for years. Auteur just means a director with a specific individual style/or person making all the creative decisions. I loved CW, didn't call the Russo Bros. auteurs. Watched Rush Hour this morning, don't think Brett Ratner is an auteur. Please run it back to me.

Does anyone think that Oakland would make Billy Burns available.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 14, 2016 -> 06:38 PM) Auteur and Assassin's Creed in the same post? Things that make you go hmmm.... Auteur is another word for author and in this case Fassbender is the author of the film, like I said he put the whole thing together. I didn't know it was some sacred word for you guys.

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ May 16, 2016 -> 02:52 PM) http://collider.com/harley-quinn-movie-margot-robbie/ Magot Robbie to produce and star in Harley Quinn solo film. Someone mentioned a Joker film happening after the solo Batman film. Batgirl and the Birds of Prey will be in this film. https://twitter.com/chrisra7en/status/732294426790223872 The film has a female writer and Michelle MacLaren's name is being floated around.

QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ May 16, 2016 -> 08:55 AM) My best guess is that Michael B. Jordan will be Erik Killmonger (rumor had that he was cast as a villain). Some dudes I know were arguing in a Facebook group that he wasn't big enough to be Killmonger, I had to remind them that comic book characters aren't real. That and you can always bulk up. I was hoping that Andy Serkis would come back for the film

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ May 13, 2016 -> 11:51 AM) Anyone else think that Richard fell on purpose at the end of Silicon Valley because they wanted them to see the skunkworks plans? Maybe its part of their plan or something, but its hard to believe Richard would do something that ridiculously stupid if it wasnt part of the plan. I think the plan was to get caught but not in that manner.
