  1. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 12:35 PM) Delminico benched but Engel starting... Renteria doesnt do a very good job making decisions Delmonico needs to sit and clear his head. He's been awful to start the season. Atleast Engel is getting on base.
  2. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 12:26 PM) I never thought I’d see the day Sanchez & Leury were our 5th & 6th hitters. I actually like this lineup quite a bit. Yolmer is hitting pretty well and it breaks up the lineup pretty evenly with LHH and RHH.
  3. Moncada 2B A. Garcia RF Abreu 1B Davidson DH Sanchez 3B L. Garcia LF Anderson SS Narvaez C Engel CF
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 08:07 AM) Gotta get Kopech on pace for the doubleheader on the 28th, ha. Is that the actual reason? I imagine it had to do with scheduling and lining him up with somebody but wasn't sure
  5. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 02:36 PM) How would people feel about Alec Bohm & Alek Thomas with our first two picks? I would love it
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 10:22 AM) I think the OF depth is a bit overstated. There is one star at the front, and another potential star who could fly through the system. After that? I am just not as sold. I am hopeful, but there are still guys with a lot of flaws in those groups. First, having two guys that have possible outcomes of superstars already tells me that OF in the farm system is a strength. Then you have depth pieces that you hope one of which pans out: Rutherford (Im not sold personally), Basabe (I think we will eventually be a major league starter), Gonzalez, Adolfo, Polo, etc. I personally see that as depth and a strength of the system. Compare their OF prospects to those of other top systems: ATL Ronald Acuna, Cristian Pache, Dustin Peterson, Drew Waters NYY Estevan Florial, Billy McKinney SDP Franchy Cordero, Jorge Ona, Tirso Ornelas? WAS Victor Robles, Juan Soto Sox are in good shape when it comes to OFers IMO.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 09:14 AM) I think sox are a bit short on high ceiling bats and uber athletes, but I do think they have a good amount of mlb playable bats with passable defense. So depth wise I think we will be there, just need to find some elite production somewhere. Im not sure there is a farm system in the MLB right now that has more high ceiling bat potential than the White Sox right now
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 01:42 PM) What will be interesting to me is that this is mainly pitching driven, and not position player driven in terms of the talent they have acquired. Hopefully the volatility of pitching is overcome by the Sox ability to scout and develop pitching. We are still fairly thin in quality positional talent in the system for a team that wants to be a world champ in short time. Disagree on the Sox being thin in terms of position players. The system is a little top heavy, but the OF is stacked through the system, I think they are looking pretty good at catcher, there are some options for 1B, 3B is a mystery until we see how Burger comes back (though I still think this is addressed through FA and Burger gets added to 1B/DH mix), and SS and 2B are thin, but you have two of your organizations cornerstones there for the next 6-7 years already at the major league level.
  9. 6:07 PM CT start time. Miggy vs. Happ. Miggy owns a 3.42 ERA at the Rogers Centre over 9 games there.
  10. QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 08:22 PM) With the bat that Beer has he will go top 10.. I wouldn't even hate it if the Sox reached and took him at 4. He's that good of a hitter. He won't last past 10 despite his defensive... shortcomings?
  11. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 08:21 AM) He was already in the top 100. Said it in another thread, but he'll be top 10 overall by season's end. My bold prediction there. I'll also say Kopech starts off pretty slow cause of his recent breakup with his now ex reality star girlfriend and Soxtalk freaks out for a couple of months. Oh.. and Basabe puts himself right back on the map in our system. I think he is only on the MLB Pipeline top 100, he was off everything else from what I remember
  12. Luis Robert is in AA by August, Cease has a big jump into top 100 prospect lists, Zack Collins clears 25 bombs and a .370 OBP.
  13. Gio will be appointment television all season. Hoping to hit as many starts of his as possible.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 03:18 PM) Thanks for posting. Interesting to see the shakeout of players, but their comments under their picks for the sox were pretty off-base. Would sox fans actually hate madrigal? If he's good you'll find a place for him. We had a pretty good view of how the championship series teams were able to just find spots for best players on field int he last playoffs. I love Madrigal's profile, but I can understand why people dont. There are no real weaknesses to his game and I feel most confident that of all the hitters in this draft, he will be the biggest lock to hit in the majors. Moncada is the 2B of the future for the Sox, but I would have no problem drafting Madrigal and, at the very worst, having him try manning SS or trading him for other pieces.

  16. Biggest Surprise: I was originally going to go with Gio, but I don't think anyone will be surprised with him becoming a legit #1 or #2 this season after watching him this spring. I think my biggest surprise will be the ascension of Aaron Bummer to being a legit bullpen piece. His stuff is good enough to get people out at the major league level, if he continues to build on how he looked this spring, he will be a great option in the 7th or 8th. Biggest Disappointment: I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about where Reynaldo is right now. His stuff is too good to be nibbling like he does. He isn't getting ahead of hitters and when he does, he isnt making good pitches to put them away. Ultimately, the Sox don't really need him to be anything more than a 5th starter, but I would really like to see him be more aggressive. Biggest Dark Horse: This will sound funny for this category, but I think Moncada is my dark horse this season to become a superstar in the MLB. IT seems like both locally and nationally people have just moved onto the next shiny prospect in the Sox system, but I think Yoan is going to blossom in the leadoff role and really take his game to the next level. He was smoking everything towards the end of ST and I think he will be running a lot more this season. I like how much he was pulling the ball this spring as well, that's where you will see him tap into his power a lot more.
  17. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 10:39 AM) Where was Cease assigned? He will be in WS most likely
  18. Absolutely hate some of these assignments. Rutherford did not do a single thing last season to deserve being promoted. Adams, Stephens, and Guerrero should be in the Charlotte rotation, Stephens and Guerrero are too old for AA. What does Dunning have left to prove in A+?
  19. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 08:20 AM) Sitting at #4 in a draft where it seems like 5-6 guys could go No. 1 and there is no clear-cut 1-1 player is a pretty good situation. I would be very happy at this point with any of the elite pitchers: Mize, McClanahan, Singer, Liberatore or Hankins. Obviously, Mize/McClanahan and Hankins have some health concerns, but assuming the due diligence comes out clean on those, any of five would be solid picks. Not sold yet on a hitter be worthy of No. 4 overall yet, though Gorman would probably be the most logical guy at this point. Agreed on the situation the Sox are finding themselves in. Only problem is that a lot of the position players haven't really asserted themselves in the top 5. Madrigal mightve been that guy, but Gorman's body has apparently taken a step back, there are mixed reviews on Swaggerty, and Turang's offensive profile just doesnt scream superstar. Alec Bohm is my dark horse late riser right now in terms of position players right now, he's been mashing and can stick at 3B. I'm not sure he will get as high as 4, but I think he goes in the top 10 now. Current rankings are: Mize Liberatore McClanahan Hankins Gilbert
  20. Welcome back everyone, a lot of movement since the last posts in this thread. Looking like the top 5 picks could be all pitchers at this point.
  21. Just in time! Welcome back everyone, can't wait for real baseball to start again tomorrow!
  22. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Feb 28, 2018 -> 11:54 AM) Rolison has been pretty dominant. Seems to have a pretty high floor, but not the ceiling of someone like McClanahan. Not my choice at 4, but i can understand the reasoning. I'd certainly prefer him to someone like Singer at this point. Rolison has been absolutely disgusting so far this season. Not sure he will a TOR starter, but I see a solid #2-3 from him. I see him as one of the quicker movers from this class.
  23. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Feb 27, 2018 -> 12:53 AM) I'm just wondering if Burger is bigger than last year or if he came into spring training out of shape or carrying extra weight . With Avi and Abreu slimming down the last 2 years seems like that is the way to go for larger athletes in baseball. He worked his butt off at the Sox facility all offseason
  24. This is some ugly baseball. So happy it's back!
