  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 23, 2018 -> 02:50 PM) Tyler Clippard Frazier
  2. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Feb 21, 2018 -> 10:32 AM) My guess is that he’ll be bouncing between AAA and the majors...no idea why so many are high on Delmonico. Just not enough of a track record consistently hitting well to think that he’s a major league player in my opinion, and not sure his D is good enough to keep him as a bench player...hopefully he can prove me wrong and he sticks with the team but I’ll be surprised if he’s ever more than the 25th man on the roster. He actually has a pretty solid track record of hitting. He never hit for as much power as he did last season, but he's always had a good BB% and wOBA. Projection systems are optimistic of his offensive profile as well. I dont think he will be a star by any means, but I think he has the skills to be a regular contributor from the left side on a playoff team.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 19, 2018 -> 11:37 AM) bittersweet line there. Ya, the control is a problem. I watched most of the start and he has nasty stuff. He's not going to last at the next level though if he can't locate it. I can see him falling to the back of the top 10-15.
  4. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Feb 19, 2018 -> 10:45 AM) Greyson Jenista is a guy I'm really interested in at this point. I think there is going to be a lot of movement with the college players this season. Jenista, Conine, Gilbert, and Rolison are all guys I'm keeping my eye on. Rolison is especially interesting in that he is a draft eligible sophomore. If he keeps up these gawdy type of numbers, he could easily sneak into the top 5.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 19, 2018 -> 09:52 AM) Are you in AZ? Just from the videos that have been coming through on Twitter
  6. It is just BP, but he looks like he is absolutely murdering the ball already

  8. @CarlosACollazo Gilbert is up to 9 Ks after 5 IP. He touched 93 on his final pitch of the fifth for his most recent strikeout, but has allowed 5 earned runs on 5 hits. He's walked one batter and hit two.
  9. Final line on Casey Mize: 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 Ks, 1 HBP on 75 pitches, 54 strikes.
  10. Madrigal off to a searing start
  11. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Feb 15, 2018 -> 09:59 AM) This also encourages me about the perceived top 3 HS guys because if even Law has the same 3, there seems to be a consensus forming. And if there are 3, at least 1 should fall to us. I think this is an important point at this stage of the draft process. We've seen quite a bit of agreement across publications now that Hankins, Liberatore, and Gorman are the top 3 HS players. I think we will see some fluctuations in the college prospects, but we are getting a good early idea on which high school players will probably be at the top of the board come June.
  12. Happy start of the college season! A lot of great games today, time to start stat tracking! Vandy vs. Duke (Conine vs. powerhouse team) Ole Miss vs. Winthrop (Rolison starting) UNC vs. USF (McClanahan vs. #6 team) LSU vs. Notre Dame Cal St.-Fullerton vs. Stanford (Beck and Bubic are Friday and Saturday starts for Stanford)
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 14, 2018 -> 03:28 PM) SOSA Surprised Adams is that high. Adams is such a weird case. He's going to be 22 all season in AAA, he has never had gaudy strikeout numbers in the minors, but has always put up good FIP/xFIP at every level. I think he can stick as a back end of the rotation piece, but I dont think he'll ever be exciting. Being young at every level though, he has never been overmatched.
  14. Interested to hear why you believe Cordell starts over Delmonico. If anything, I'd have Cordell starting in CF.

  16. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 10:02 AM) Here is the review of system from Keith Law. Really good stuff. He has White Sox as 4th best system. Apparently he doesn't hate them anymore. http://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id...ntral-prospects He has it like this: 1. Eloy Jimenez 2. Michael Kopech 3. Luis Robert 4. Alec Hansen 5. Dylan Cease 6. Dane Dunning 7. Jake Burger 8. Blake Rutherford 9. Micker Adolfo 10. Zack Collins 11. Gavin Sheets 12. Spencer Adams 13. Carson Fulmer 14. Ian Clarkin 15. Luis Alexander Basabe 16. Luis Gonzalez 17. Zack Burdi 18. AJ Puckett Some notes: Expects more growth from Dylan Cease, sees Dunning as future mid-rotation starter, Burger is bat-first with position questions but should hit enough regardless, Rutherford the Sox bough low but he needs to hit the ball in the air more, Adolfo was a positive review. Plus-plus arm and plus pull power. RF profile. He doesn't believe Collins can catch, Sees Sheets as having the floor of a platoon 1B and believes in the power, Adams is a strike thrower that could be a back end starter, Thinks Fulmer is a reliever but a good one, blamed many of Basabe's struggles on the knee injury, and sees Puckett as a #5 starter. Really positive stuff there
  17. 1.) Hankins 2.) De Sedas 3.) McClanahan 4.) Liberatore 5.) Gilbert I like Turang's defense a ton, but I am really skeptical how his bat will play at the next level.
  18. Didn't even realize Cleveland had 3 picks before the Sox will even get their second pick
  19. QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 09:13 AM) I still don't understand why people think/thought Collins is even close to being a top 100 prospect LET ALONE inside the top 100 ISOs above .200 at every level, wOBA above .367 at every level, wRC+ above 130 at every level, BB% above 17.8% at every level. Dude rakes.
  20. I think Robert's ranking is pretty strictly based on his little exposure to higher level competition. I imagine he will be a top 25 prospect at this time next year. As for Hansen, he was previously unranked, so that jump for him is pretty impressive. I think we should all be pretty happy that the Sox might've landed a #1A or #2 with a 2nd round pick. That said, seeing this kinda gives me similar feelings to what bmags expressed. Hansen is the only player you've drafted in the last 3-4 years that cracked the top 100? I'm not sure that speaks highly to the talent evaluation in our system and that is a little scary. I think Collins, Burger, etc. will be useful MLB pieces, but can't help but be a little irked that the industry isnt a little higher on people the Sox have drafted and developed.
  21. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jan 11, 2018 -> 01:07 PM) How much lower than 8 would you rank him? I don't see him as the best or even 2nd best RFer yet. Maybe 3rd or 4th best? Judge Betts Harper Stanton All atleast ahead of him, could make arguments for others. I dont think 8 is crazy.
  22. Good article Matt! I think you nailed these IMO. As much as I'd like to believe that Robert could seamlessly make the jump to WS, I think you need to break him in easy (unless he looks light years better than everyone in ST). 100-150 ABs to prove himself at Kanny shouldn't hurt him. That also gives a guy like Basabe or Call some time to get off to a good start and earn a promotion once Eloy goes up to AAA. That Kanny OF is going to be nuts with those 3 there. WS should be pretty fun too if Call eventually moves up to accomodate Robert.
  23. Please also post who you would want for the position you chose. I would like the Sox to pursue Trevor Cahill because he can start in the rotation while we wait for Rodon and Kopech, then can transition to be the long man. He has a good GB% that would probably be an asset in the G Spot.
  24. I would be all for this depending on cost
  25. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 11:42 AM) Geez. I'm just trying to add some context here. I live here and I'm just relaying the relief of Royals fans getting rid of Soria. He was the whipping boy of fans all last year (much like me despising Dunn that one year and me despising Rios, etc) and the talk shows are blazing. Do you guys check Twitter? Type in Soria's name for gosh sakes. I don't like being negative Nancy but I'm just passing along what I KNOW from living here. Soria was booed; Soria was despised; Soria was a bad clubhouse guy; Soria was the scapegoat for all the Royals' bullpen woes. Soria will make me consider whether to buy mlb.com this year cause he will drive me insane UNLESS as I pointed out Coop fixes him. I also said the other reliever we got sounds fine. Read my posts before you guys say I'm totally out of line. Don't you want info passed on? We can't be Sox shills all the time for gosh sakes. Be reasonable. He's awful; Coop easily could fix him. He's so bad greg doesn't want to watch him pitch on mlb.com in a Sox uniform so shoot me. You guys over-react. Read my tweets; they are not that negative since I do bring up Coop. This goes both ways. Some of our players get trashed on here. Like take away two weeks of a hitter's 0 for 30 and the hitter is different. Look, I get it. Sox fans are excited cause he's new, the unknown. I'd love if Soria does what some relievers do and has a good year after a bad one. 1.) Soria is not unknown, he's literally been in the division since 2007 (with the exception of 2013) 2.) Soria is not awful. His career numbers argue quite the opposite actually. 2.86 ERA, 3.07 FIP, 3.28 xFIP, 9.62 K/9, 2.71 BB/9, 204 S over 573 IP. Prettay, prettay good. 3.) Can you please provide us with some first hand accounts of Soria being a bad clubhouse guy?
