  1. Ramirez with a 2 run double. Saladino pinch running for him.
  2. JB Shuck pinch running for Avi G after he walks.
  3. Andy Wilkins in at 1st base, pinch running for JA79 who had his 2nd single. Dan Black hitting now for La Roche
  4. Penny just struck out the side. Getting the ball down that last inning. I suspect Coop was at him between innings.
  5. Bad Penny pitching a 2nd innings with Rob Brantly catching. Also have Courtney Hawkins at LF and Bonafacio at CF
  6. Bad Penney leaving the ball up and conceding a few singles 4-1 Sox
  7. Avi G with his 2nd double scores La Roche
  8. 2 run double for La Roche. In and out of Ethier's glove. Could have been called an error but I'm sure La Roche will be happy that its been scored a double
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 24, 2015 -> 02:33 PM) When Danks had a quality start: 20 games, 130.2 innings, 2.48 ERA (team record 10-10, 1-6 in no decisions) Without quality starts: 12 games, 63 innings, 9.43 ERA #1 positive--he made his starts. No DL time. #2 positive--he's another year away from surgery, which could help him #3 positive--he's playing with a better offense to support him He'll be fine. It's all very well to say he'll be fine but the only way to deal with this is to look at what went wrong in the 12 games where he gave up the runs. Was his arm tired? was he on short rest? Did Robin leave him in too long and not go to the pen quickly enough. If Coops can work with him and reduce either the number of games where he is terrible or the amount of runs that he gives up when he is not pitching well, then he has a chance of becoming much better, however if Coops can't "fix" some of those 12 games, then he will remain what he is, an overpaid 4th starter.
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 4, 2015 -> 07:58 PM) Viciedo has been officially released. He Gawn!!!!
  11. QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 28, 2015 -> 03:41 PM) as some has already pointed out to me.... the sox do not have the money, and have gone over their budget. According to Rick Hahn, everytime he approached Jerry for money for a player, Jerry said yes. The Sox have went over budget but it looks like Jerry is willing to go over budget to watch the Sox win before he kicks the bucket.
  12. QUOTE (Douglas Rome @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 01:06 PM) who's the better manager, Ozzie or Robin? thanks, douglas Ozzie has the better success but then again Ozzie had Paulie in his prime, Buehrle in his prime plus the likes of Dye, Thome, Crede, Rowand and a glut of good relievers. Yet despite that, it was two post season appearances (admittedly one of them was a World Series win) Most managers could manage that talent pool. On the other hand Robin had a declining and often injured Paulie, Adam Dunn, Gordon Beckham, Alex Rios, Dayan Viciedo, a terrible bullpen and nearly took the title off of Detroit in 2012 with a makehift pen and injuries to Danks and Floyd. I think this year is the 1st year that you can properly assess Robin, now has the correct tools to work with. So in summary, its too early to judge and did I mention that we got rid of both Dunn and Beckham...... Thanks Glangon

    Bench

I would say that barring further moves, the bench is:- C - Brantley INF - Sanchez (I think Micah is the starting 2nd baseman and Sanchez backs him up) INF - Leury G OF - Tank
  14. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 11:44 AM) If you do that then you have to keep a 5th OF on the roster because there isn't anybody else who can play CF. I mean I guess you can stick Melky there but that's not an ideal plan. If I remember correctly, wasn't tank originally a 3rd baseman. If we are retaining his services and don't need him for the outfield. Is it worth using Spring Training to hone his 3B skills? That way he could spot Gillaspie againt lefties and be a bench option to come in late.
  15. It was an overly simplistic view but it does show where our issue was and Robertson goes a long way to fixing that. Even if it was only 8 games extra we didn't blow the save. that's a .500 team. Add in the Duke factor over the non-existent lefties in last years pen, Samrdzija and ala Roche and we could be talking play offs next year.
  16. 23 blown saves we had last year. Robertson saved 39 out of 44 chances last year, Take that he blows 5 of the 23 we blew. Simplistically, we'd have won 18 more games with Robertson as closer. That would have taken us 91 wins. That is worth the $11.5 million a year we are paying him.
  17. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 09:44 AM) yeah, but i really doubt the sox have that payroll flexibility. nice to dream. i am with you on this. I wonder if we do have the payroll flexability. If Hahn went to Jerry and said that he needed an extra $25 million on his payroll to get Scherzer and turn the rotation into Sale, Scherzer, Samardzija and Noesi. I reckon Jerry would find a way. The media exposure to the White Sox alone could bring in enough advertising and sales to cover some of the cost.
  18. Cool, we have our closer and RH Starter now. By my reckoning we need a Left Fielder (preferably a Left Handed Bat) and possibly a LOOGY in the pen. If the rumours are correct about the Pirates wanting Danks and if we can free up some payroll. I would love to see us taking a run at Scherzer. Imagine the rotation of Sale Scherzer Samardzijia Quintana Noesi Go on Rick. Show them all that you mean business.
  19. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 4, 2014 -> 03:31 PM) Jon Heyman improving chisox need righty SP & have contacted all, from Max down. MS a long shot but many choices http://t.co/UqodjfYYIc https://twitter.com/JonHeymanCBS/status/540526188582948864 Scherzer would be an outstanding pick up. Rotation of Sale Scherzer Q Noesi Danks With Rodon and Bassitt in the wings. That would rock my world.
  20. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 12:35 PM) I wouldn't let a 2nd round draft pick deter me. I know Hahn says that but I don't agree with it. A 1st round pick would be a different story. I agree with this but Hahn hasn't given it up yet in the last 2 years and has been more interesting in trading for players than giving up that 2nd round pick. I would like to see us give it up if we were to land Scherzer.
  21. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 11:01 AM) I agree. That move would make much more sense. If you sign Shields, the players being bandied about in Samardzjia talks could be used to acquire an impact bat and the Sox are better on both fronts. If you do that then you give up the 2nd round draft pick which Hahn has been unwilling to do so far. If you want to give up that 2nd round pick, you are as well spending a little more and going for it with Scherzer.
  22. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 01:49 PM) You forget that Oakland has seen Leury, Johnson, Danks and Rienzo play baseball. True but you use that as your starting offer and then see what Billy Beane wants for him, then you up your offer slightly with some conversation, That offer could then turn into Carlos Sanchez, Erik Johnson, Tank and Rienzo for Samardijia. If we start too high we could end up paying the earth for a 1 year rental.
  23. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 01:22 PM) Billy Beane would laugh hysterically as he hung up the phone. Probably but if you showcase each of these players correctly, you may be able to get him for less that you thought you could play. For example, if you approach him promoting the speed and versatility of Leury and how he would fit Oakland's ethic. You then tell him about the promise of Erik Johnson and that he was a top 100 prospect that had a down year last year due to injury, then you mention the Charlotte total home run record holder in Jordan Danks and that as a sweetener you have the top pitcher in Brazil in Andre Rienzo. If Toronto can trade for Josh Donaldson for Brett Lawrie and a couple of prospects. Why can't we deal for a year of the Shark for 4 AAAA players.
  24. For a one year rental player, I'd pay Leury Garcia and Erik Johnson and see if they will bite on Leury's speed and versatilty and EJ being a former top 100 prospect. If we can't get Beane to budge on that, I'd maybe throw in Jordan Danks and Andre Rienzo and see if we can fool them into that trade....
