  1. Dear Seattle, Please will you trade James Paxton for Dayan Viciedo. If you need more outfielders, we can throw in Keenyn Walker, Jared Mitchell and Trayce Thompson. If you need more pitchers, we can throw in Deunte Heath, Nestor Molina and Dylan Axelrod. yours hopingly Rick Hahn
  2. If Keppinger isn't right, he needs to start on the DL. When he is right and has rehabbed and proven his arm is ok, then we bring him up and play him. Not before. This does simplify the issue short-term, I see Davidson starting in AAA, Gillaspie as starting 3rd baseman and Semien as utility back up (barring a Beckham trade) Semien showed more than Leury Garcia last season and can play 3rd base, Short Stop and 2nd Base. Unless we do manage to trade De Aza or Tank, they will platoon at left field and JoDa will start in AAA. Which leaves the catcher, it looks like the job is Flowers with Nieto as back up (rule 5 rules (unless a trade is made)) and Phegley starting in AAA
  3. Twins want base running errors According to NBC Sports, the Twins are fans of De Aza and looking to trade for him.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 8, 2014 -> 09:05 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@DanHayesCSN 14m Carlos Sanchez continues his strong start this spring with an RBI double. He's now 5-for-9 with four RBIs. #WhiteSox 6-10 now, he just had another hit. If he keeps this up, Beckham could join De Aza/ Tank out of the door.
  5. Sanchez now steals 2nd. good show from Carlos
  6. Carlos Sanchez drives in Tank with a bloop single off Rodney
  7. Yes! Abreu with a 2-run double to score Spanky and Beckham. 2-1 Sox
  8. Micah Johnson is quick, it's like watching the Road Runner
  9. I may be looking too much into this but to me there is a couple of concerns and a few positives on the back of this. Concerns:- Paulino getting hit for a few. I know its Spring Training and he's coming back from an injury, but this doesn't inspire me and it should spur other rotation candidates. Nestor Molina, continues to get hit off of. I've still to see anything positive from this guy. Positives:- Adrian Nieto - Good to see him producing when needed with the bat. I can't wait until I get to see him hit. Tyler Flowers - It looks to be a different Flowers heading into spring, I know it's early but perhaps we could see a different Flowers hitting when the season starts. The fallen prospects - Guys like Mike McDade, Carlos Sanchez, Andy Wilkins, Keenyn Walker all showing patience at the plate and working the count to their favour. It was these guys who produced for the comeback win. It sounds like Steverson's hitting coaching is starting to pay off early. Lets hope it continues. I'm probably looking into this too much but after the woes of last season and how pathetic some of our so called prized prospects were last season in the minors, it's good to see them showing their potential.
  10. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Feb 28, 2014 -> 10:02 PM) and he gives up a 2-run dinger His heat was there, his control wasn't
  11. Leesman looked really good for his outing. 2 strikeouts and a lazy fly
  12. I like Giancarlo Stanton - (name change not counting) The guy had Ozzie as a manager, then when all the good players were sold off, he stayed and played and never complained about it. I also like Fat Fielder. Nothing about his body tells you that he should play baseball, but he still runs his butt off and plays his butt off for his team.
  13. As so many have replied before, Mark Buerhle is my favourite because of who is he. I still remember the rain delay a few years ago where Mark water slid through the covers as a laugh. He is a great guy and character and sorely missed by me and probably a whole lot of other people. The other player would be Neil Cotts. For what that guy went through to rebuild and rebound and be so effective last year, it showed character for him to do that.
  14. I'd trade them Axelrod and a box of popcorn for King Felix. They'd probably not accept it, but the popcorn does taste nice.
  15. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 27, 2014 -> 10:02 AM) I think everyone INCLUDING Paulie expects/hopes Paulie is going to a bench player. I'm pretty sure he said the only way this season would work was if he was in a platoon or bench role. I know he's a bench player. What I was saying was that with Robin being forced to have Paulie as a bench player, I think that Viciedo will be moved to 3rd base to allow an extra OF option.
  16. I think Robin might do something different with having Paulie as a bench player. I think we'll line up as follows. CF Eaton LF De Aza RF Avi Garcia 1B Abreu DH Dunn 3B Viciedo SS Ramirez C Flowers 2B Beckham Bench C Nieto IF Konerko IF Keppinger OF Danks Playing Tank at 3rd would give another LF back up. I see Gillaspie, Davidson, Leury Garcia, Phegley and Semien all starting in AAA barring trades.
  17. If Tanaka was to sign with the White Sox, I'm salivating over the rotation for next year. Sale Tanaka Quintana Danks Johnson I think we could go toe to toe with most rotations in the AL if we sign Tanaka.
  18. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jan 12, 2014 -> 08:36 AM) Past, present, and future: Frank, Paulie, and Abreu I like this idea.
  19. QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Dec 22, 2013 -> 11:37 PM) CBS Sportsline is reporting that the Sox are targeting Yankees' catching prospect J.R. Murphy. Bad move IMO He hit worse than Flowers in the majors and a lot worse than Phegley in the minors. Gary Sanchez would surely be a better target.
  20. Willie Harris relaxing by the pool
  21. If we ask Oakland nicely, they might take Keppinger
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 1, 2013 -> 11:19 AM) http://www.masslive.com/redsox/index.ssf/2...keep_jarro.html Arguments why they would/should keep him. The only reason they won't keep him is if they're going to bring in McCann instead, IMO. They're likely to lose Ellsbury, Napoli and Drew. That frees up a TON of money. FWIW, they would be the perfect team to trade Alexei Ramirez to, if not's going to be the Cardinals or Pirates. Why would the Red Sox go with Ramirez when they will be playing Bogaerts at SS and Middlebrooks at 3B. Their needs will be a catcher a Centre Fielder (unless they move Victorino out there) and a 1st Baseman. Similar to our needs but we filled one with the signing of Abreu.
  23. Having Floyd signed for a reduced fee makes sense and puts us in a stronger trading position. Having 7 bonified starters plus Axelrod means that we are more flexible trading for what we need. I see Floyd rehabbing in the minors and coming up around June when he has some innings under his belt and one of the rotation goes down. I can see us going with Sale / Q / Danks / Rienzo / EJ with Floyd in Charlotte rehabbing, Santiago and Axelrod traded.
  24. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 02:53 PM) In the minors, Bourjos was a .291/.345/.455/.799 hitter. He never repeated a level, peaking at .303/.357/.493/.850 in AAA. In the minors, Danks was a .267/.354/.423/.777 hitter. He was in his 4th season in AAA when the Sox called him up last year. Bourjos is also a far, far better defender. Danks is generally rated as average to above average. Bourjos is rated incredible to best defensive outfielder in the game. Yes, I would give up valuable pieces for Bourjos, not a doubt in my mind. He'd be a terrible leadoff hitter, but anywhere between 7th and 9th in the order would be awesome. He has the ceiling of an All-Star player. If you take away average, the stats in the minors are not that much different. Danks with regular playing time at the end of last season was hitting consistantly and does have a sweet throwing arm. Interesting how you post Bourjous peak in the minors but not Danks, for the argument sake - in 2012 for AAA Charlotte Jordan Danks hit .317/.428/.514/.942 Every stat there is better than Bourjous peak season in the minors. What this comes down to is that you are arguing about trading away our 3rd / 4th rotation pitcher for a player who is not much better than our projected OF back up in 2014. I don't see how that has value long term. I would want better than that if I'm trading away Santiago. I definitely wouldn't trade Q for Bourjous. As previous posters have said, we may have one shot at trading away a starting pitcher, I wouldn't want to waste it on Bourjous.
  25. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 01:35 PM) Peter Bourjos is about two to three times the player that Jordan Danks is. Peter Bourjos is a guy you talk about as a potential multiple gold glover and a 10/40 or 20/40 guy. Jordan Danks is a AAAA or bench player. Peter Bourjos's ceiling is probably a .300/.350/.475/.825 type season, while his low is probably .250/.300/.375/.675, all the while contributing great base running and incredible defense. Danks' ceiling is probably .250/.325/.475/.800, his floor .225/.275/.325 without the stolen bases and gold glove defense. Here's a simple test...would you trade Jordan Danks for Peter Bourjos? Answer is an obvious yes. If you had him, would you trade Bourjos for Danks? That is really an obvious no. I think you overestimate Bourjous. A guy who on a 162 game average bats .251 with 11 homers 41 RBI's and 19 Stolen Bases. 29 Walks and 115 strikeouts. Compared to Danks who on a 162 game average bats .229 with 8 homers, 20 RBI's and 13 stolen bases. With 30 walks and 92 strikeouts. Not that much of a difference, certainly not someone that you'd give up Quintana or Santiago for. I'd keep Danks and see who else is available. Not Bourjous though, not a .251 hitter with 115 strikeouts. Just as a side note, the much aligned De Aza has a 162 game average of .274, 11 homers, 57 RBI's and 24 stolen bases with 50 walks and 147 strikeouts. I don't see where Bourjous is an upgrade on what we have.
