Do they do promos at spring training games? They need to do a Halfway to Halfway to St. Patrick's Day shirt giveaway.

Surely the mods can figure this out. Find all new accounts created after the thread was created and (I assume you can see all of their activity) look for accts that focus primarily or exclusively on that thread. Not that it really matters, but I would be curious to know if he posted anything. Edit: I guess he may not have created an account, so .... never mind. -
This is a hot scoop! Perhaps it should be pinned. 1. sense 2. talked 3. possibilities 4. preparing 5. expectation

Absolutely! Credit where credit is due. -
We've already discussed Ted William's frozen penis. How much worse can it get, really?

To be fair ... what did you expect him to say? "Yeah, Lucas is about as good as he'll ever be ..."? It's coach-speak. -
If no new RF by Nontender deadline, should Sox tender Mazara?
skooch replied to YourWhatHurts's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yup. I enjoy reading about baseball. Unlike you who seems interested in creating an echo chamber where anyone with an opposing view is encouraged to leave or log out. Despite the tolerance you preach, you seen quite intolerant. -

This place is one of the biggest echo chambers around. -
Luhnow claims (naturally) that he was unaware of the whole thing. I have not heard anyone say that they told him and he claims that text messages at the time included things like "Don't let Jeff find out" or similar. I am struggling with how an operation like this can happen without the GM being aware. If Luhnow was "unaware" then I would suspect it was due to willful ignorance. If all of this did somehow happened without his knowledge then I wouldn't touch Hinch as a manager w/ a 100 ft pole as he is a completely spineless person.

Such as?

Well, if you approach the GM and he refuses to stop the cheating and you are unwilling to walk away quietly, I guess that leaves two options ... blow it all up and risk never working in MLB again or do what Hinch did and play along quietly. I suspect this is exactly what happened and Hinch chose the latter. Which one are you choosing? There's a lot of moralizing done around here, but if faced with this scenario, I'm guessing most people would have done the same.
-
That's why I added option c). Walking away for undisclosed family reasons was also an option if you really disapprove of the cheating but can't stop it. You could preserve your integrity (if you are afflicted with such) as well as your future career opportunities. He didn't do that either.

White Sox fan taunts Astros during ALCS

This guy's going to look like a real ass if the Sox hire Hinch. -
This is why I asked the question. The presumption is that he could have stopped the cheating somehow, and I guess that's true if you're willing to contemplate the nuclear option that DA talked about. It is very easy to judge people you don't know whose shoes you've never walked. I guess the follow up question would be: if you confronted Luhnow (who I admit I think was the real driver of the cheating) and he told you that that's the way it was going to be and to sit down and STFU, how many people here actually drop the bomb? How many walk away quietly to preserve future job opportunities, and how many turn their heads the other way and try to convince themselves that it's not really that big of a deal?
-
I'm curious to hear how others would have handled the situation if they found a cheating scandal unfolding around them and out of their control. Of course this is conjecture, but reports at the time seem to indicate that he was not in favor of it. I do think he looked like a major ass in the aftermath trying to defend it though. Who knows if the stories are true?

Doesn't MLB discourage personnel moves during the playoffs? Of is it just during the World Series?

I'm guessing one Mr. Chris Bassitt will be out to prove something against the team that traded him. Bassitt and Semien for who now?

I don't think we're ever going to find out.
