In retrospect, I think they were overconfident in their rebuild and took supposedly polished college players that would fit the same arrival timeline.

I could see Lynn traded to a contender at the deadline. TA maybe next winter, but I don’t think they have the stones to do it in season. Maybe if any of the pen arms are performing well enough. I don’t see a mass fire sale even if they are totally buried in the division. We’ll get some salary dumped, and a few middling pickups in FA and we’ll be told they are competing again. Unfortunately, there is no floor for these hacks. They will discover new depths of futility. It is their only true talent.

I used to be that way, but while 2022 nearly broke my fandom, I found an escape watching out of town baseball. I fell in love with the game again watching good teams compete, even if I had no emotional attachment to either side.

And we will all celebrate the team changing hands. But until that point, replacing Hahn with Getz is just more of the same. I would welcome it, but it does nothing to alter expectations.

Both teams are ingrained in me too. I can however control how much emotional energy I waste on them. Both franchises desperately need change at the very top, and I simply can’t expect anything but the same half-assed BS until that happens. I’m still a diehard, but the jadedness runs deep. It will take a lot for me to ever truly believe on them again.

The opening day win in Houston was the slightest glimmer of hope. Since then they have reminded me who they are, and the many reasons I believed they would be much worse this year. Having zero expectations coming in, it’s nice that they did nothing to string along false hope of contending. Now I can pay less attention to them as they sink lower towards the bottom. Or at least I can expand far less emotional energy on their sorry asses and enjoy a summer’s worth of out of town baseball without caring how bad the home team is. They pulled off the bandaid early, and for that, I am grateful.

They probably respect him more than the drunken corpse you seem to want to bring back as a consultant. Which I admit isn’t saying much, but there’s no evidence to suggest that Pedro has lost the team a month into the season. He’s been awful no question, but so has everyone else in the dugout. Dragging TLR back could only make things worse.
