Robert had a nice audition in front of the Mariners last night. Still holding out hope he leaves them starry-eyed enough after this series to pony up.

M's have plenty of LH power that can actually play RF. Sheets requires a 40 man spot, and might start one game a week at 1B or DH. He offers no value to the Mariners roster that couldn't fill internally. If Dipoto needed an extra piece to offset Robert's injury risk, neither Sheets or Vaughn do that.

Vaughn and Sheets have absolutely zero value and do nothing to offset Robert's injury risk. They are both instant DFA's for a competing club. It would take more than Robert to pry Colt Emerson from Seattle IMO, but Sheets and Vaughn actually hurt the incoming value for the Mariners.

This comes as zero surprise to me. The dope has survived a 3-22 start and a 14 game losing streak after a 101 loss season last year. Something tells me results don't much matter to his fate at this point.

I could not care less if the White Sox have the top ranked system. I need them to crank out Major League players on a regular basis and have the system provide actual depth for the big league club. Top 100 prospects are great and all, but I'd rather they avoid a repeat of the last failed rebuild with a top heavy system that leaves them with nothing after the best prospects graduate.

Still feels like a big IF to me. The roster shuffling seems like desperation, just hoping something magically works.

I would have laughed at the notion too, but here we are. This org doesn't pay for marquee free agents, they don't sign ace level starters or any quality starter to long term deals. They also don't draft well or develop MLB players on the regular. They are also one of the worst teams at scouting at the MLB level. Yes, three years is a long time, but JR isn't going to drastically change his ways in his twilight years. With how this org operates, and with the dearth of talent currently in the minors, I simply see no path to being a good team before Robert's deal expires, let alone a legit contender.

It is June of 2024. Robert is only signed through 2027. This org doesn't even have foundational pieces that you could dream on being Major League players by the time Robert's deal is up. There is zero path with the way this org operates that they will be a competitive team again with Robert still under contract.

If the Sox were only a 90 loss disappointment, I would worry less about Robert being wasted in this toxic org. But we are a far cry from a mere disappointment.

I just don't see the O's parting with their prospects. Especially not for a position player. They just lost two starting pitchers for the rest of the season, if they are making a trade that's where I think they would look to add. Mariners on the other hand desperately need a proven bat, two even. High-A is stacked with talent, but I think Getz would want guys closer to the bigs.

Chris Getz making marquee trades frightens me. If he though this catastrophe would be competitive, I sure as hell can’t put any faith in his talent evaluation. This team is so fucked for the foreseeable future.
