  1. Seriously, is it difficult to add first names to thread titles so we know WTH you're talking about?
  2. And they sit empty 99.99% of the time between games and in the offseason. Imagine instead of a sea of asphalt there were actual businesses fans wanted to patronize that operated 12-14 hours a day and all winter long instead of merely 4-5 hours on game day.
  3. Did fans tailgate at Old Comiskey? It’s a newer Comiskey II phenomenon, yes? Mccuddy’s was before my time, but old timers still lament its loss. Seems fans adjusted to what was available to them pre game. They will adjust to whatever the new park has to offer. It’s not a hard concept.
  4. Even if the Sox did hand out top dollar deals for pitching, Boras likely takes Cease to free agency in order to maximize the payday. We all know they don't, so it's moot. In Altuve's case, Boras probably knows no one else is going to offer what Houston did for an aging player, so there is no reason not to take the money instead of waiting until free agency.
  5. A contract extension for a 33 y/o Altuve is very different than an extension for player in Cease who has yet to hit free agency. Altuve has already been paid big where as Boras is yet to see his payday from Cease. Let's not be obtuse or pedantic here.
  6. I'm walking distance from GRF and I'm freaking ecstatic! I'm not upset in the least that I'll have to hop on the L to go to games again. The positives outweigh everything else IMO.
  7. This is what I and others have been trying to get at. There won't be a lack of parking in the vicinity, just not acres of parking directly at the ballpark like at GRF. I have no doubt that parking needs will be accommodated by pre-existing lots and garages nearby.
  8. Which sounds just as miserable to navigate as Soldier Field is currently.
  9. Big difference between a chairman who doesn't want to pay players because of his antiquated ownership vs labor beliefs, and a chairman that stands to make hundreds of millions of dollars for his heirs in a massive stadium/real estate developement.
  10. The bump in franchise valuation alone just from moving downtown easily covers that. It would be a drop in the bucket.
  11. I don't give a s%*# about the Bears personally, but I'm curious where on the lakefront this would be. I'm all for erasing the ugly spaceship from the Soldier Field colonnades, but a lake front location doesn't seem to solve their supposed issues.
  12. Would a shuttle from one of the remaining GRF lots be feasible for you or more of a pain? Or an Uber from a nearby garage/lot?
  13. Inject this straight into my veins! I’d buy season tix again regardless of the on field success.
  14. Waiting for a certain poster to blow every conceivable gasket at these renderings. Whatever will fans do but be forced to not drive their living room on wheels to a game.
  15. I don’t know if it does now, but it easily could. Water taxis stop at Ping Tom park just south so there’s no reason tour boats couldn’t visit the 78.
  16. For those who don't know, yes, this design would point NE towards downtown and the lake.
  17. I'm not predicting it, but if they failed to win 60 I would not be surprised in the least.
  18. Same. I'll watch plenty of out of town baseball to get my fix once the season starts, but spring games are a nice change in background noise while working.
  19. As much as no one should want to watch this abomination of a team, it's still baseball. Or some semblance there of. Which is still better than no baseball!
  20. Hopefully as more teams release spring schedules we'll see what other viewing options are available.
