  1. That's essentially what I was getting at. New Sox Park being so much closer to downtown would give corporations and tourists alike reason to buy tix ahead of time, even if the weather turns out crappy that day.
  2. FWIW, just scrolling through M's twitter/message board, they think a trade is likely happening, but don't know what. They seem as puzzled my the Mariner's supposed interest in Cease as some of us are.
  3. Maybe, but it's a waste of money for a cost conscious team. Not sue what Whit gives them over their current UT/platoon guys.
  4. Not really sure where Whit fits in for them. They already have Sam Haggerty and Dylan Moore on the 40 man as UTIL guys.
  5. I don't think it's weird at all. I think people are underestimating the value of a major league ready starter with 6 years of control. That's a nice get, but you won't receive much more along with him. I also don't think adding another starter is really Seattle's area of need though, so I doubt any of their top positional prospects are on the table.
  6. Agreed. Which is why it doesn’t make any sense to me.
  7. He definitely had some rough starts down the stretch. If Getz is hell bent on getting pitching back, I wouldn't say no to Miller.
  8. They're already thin in the OF. This just creates a hole without really filling a need.
  9. Does Wrigley struggle with attendance in April if the team is decent? If the new Sox Park is done right I think it starts to negate some of those weather detractors.
  10. Good. Weather in Chicago can be shitty at times, but a roof just adds cost and eats up space.
  11. I think Woo has more value. Maybe a Cease + Eloy for Woo++. I still think it’s dumb from Seattle’s side, but who knows with Dipoto.
  12. I guess. M’s are my 2nd team and I’ll be pissed if this move happens. Losing Miller or Woo hardly appeases me after this shitty off-season.
  13. The replacement closer killed them. I have my doubts that the replacements step right in a replace what they let go. Thats a hell of a lot of squinting.
  14. Well s%*#. I haven’t a clue what Seattle is thinking here then.
  15. It’s a move to make last trade deadline, not after a winter of stripping salary off a near playoff team. Trading for Cease now doesn’t put them any closer to contention. It just doesn’t make sense to me.
  16. Corned beef, sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese on a burger?
  17. Sometimes tells me Bob is laundering info here.
  18. Seattle trading for Cease after salary dumping half of their offense just doesn’t make sense to me. Their rotation kept them in the hunt last year but the lack of closer and lack of timely hitting is what ultimately did them in. Trading 6 years of control for 2 and not addressing their roster holes is incredibly shortsighted IMO.
  19. That's the only real value he brought to the table, which would be completely wasted here. The Jays needed more LH balance in the lineup, but Varsho basically flopped. KK is the better CF obviously but neither of them helped the team's offensive issues.
  20. Something tells me you’re not overly familiar with Dalton Varsho. Likable player, but he didn’t exactly move the needle for a playoff team last year. He’s hardly the difference maker you need in return for Cease, on top of being a poor fit for where this team is. And dont even get me started on Manoah’s issues.
  21. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ::inhale:: hahahahahahqhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
  22. That's my hope too. Hold out for more knowing he can pivot to his real asking price.
  23. I really think it is a game of chicken at this point. Both sides likely know the ask and the offers, and perhaps Getz is just waiting for someone to blink? We still have a few weeks until pitchers and catchers report, maybe that adds some pressure to get something done?
