  1. M’s are cutting costs. I doubt they take on Baltimore’s veteran castoffs. Near-ready prospects to add to Julio’s team control make way more sense.
  2. I follow the M's closely as my 2nd team. They dumped their starting 3B & LF, and their RF is FA. They don't need SS. Cal Raleigh probably gets a few starts at DH when he's not behind the plate, and I foresee more of a rotating position. 3B and RF are legit needs, and they need offense from both spots.
  3. I suppose that makes sense. Miller would have more value than Woo, but I have a hard time seeing them trade Miller.
  4. The had the $$ to poach a few known media names, but they're a gloried blog basically. Thats not a knock, but they're on the outside looking in like the rest of us.
  5. Woo is the only guy I could see the M's trading. They need a 3B or RF. What do you think is a fair trade?
  6. Cease for Woo + prospects is about the only thing I can come up with, but they don't need pitching. They have plenty of quality young arms and are in desperate need of legit bats.
  7. I appreciated the insight at first, but when it became 'anyone that disagrees is wrong', the act wore thin pretty quickly. Talk about wearing out your welcome.
  8. The Griffey Jr Mariners were my 2nd fave growing up, and I re-adopted the M's after watching the Sox home opener in person. Distance matters not, find your baseball bliss!
  9. Except if you hate crab cakes! And before anyone comes at me, I lived in DC for 4 years. Still, hard pass.
  10. The post season is a crapshoot. AZ got really hot and Texas' offense carried them to victory. They also feel like an outlier. Probably need a larger sample size to to declare that a false statement.
  11. This thread is instantly more enjoyable without reading post after post of someone telling everyone they are wrong for disagreeing with them. It's quite nice.
  12. At least the Sox will make teams earn those runs. Those many many many runs.
  13. Yeah, it would be nice if some of these dudes were flippable, but even that might be too much to expect.
  14. They're taking the volume approach to fill the missing Salvy void.
  15. That sweet sweet run differential will keep them warm at night while losing 100+ and gaining a meager 10th pick. Holy f*** this team is boned.
  16. This is encouraging. I’m not well versed in the minors and was concerned about their system post Soto trade.
  17. This thread really devolved into worrying that an abuser is being silenced? Really? What The f*** Also, Freedom of Speech is a protection from the government silencing individuals, not a protection from the consequences of one’s own actions. Nor from society or an industry shunning an abuser. Visquel deserves to be buried in obscurity, never to work in baseball again. If you’re concerned that an abuser is being silenced or censored, that says way more about you than it is any sort of indictment of society. If that is you, maybe stop worrying about a former baseball player failing from grace and get to work on yourself. For fucks sake. /rant
  18. Especially their cost-controlled pitchers when they’re salary dumping useful players.
  19. JP Crawford would like a word. He's the heart of that team. RF and DH should not require trading away cost-controlled pitching.
  20. The cost-cutting Mariners would probably rather dump Ray than Woo or Miller. I'd be surprised if the O's traded Santander or Mountcastle this winter as well. Even with all of their prospects, good teams still need a mix of veteran players.
  21. It's a game of chicken basically. They could jump the market, but as O's fans have said here, Elias usually holds firm with what he's willing to offer and will walk away before upping beyond his threshold. I don't expect a deal with Baltimore to go down for that reason. But other suitors won't start seriously sniffing around a Cease trade until the quality FA options dry up.
  22. Cease's market won't heat up until the FA sign. It's all a leverage play until then. Baltimore isn't signing either FA, but they won't get serious with their offers until they have to, once other teams start making serious inquiries as well.
  23. I'd be a fan of the move if it meant they weren't counting on him to actually play.
