  1. Getz's marching orders vs what is realistic given the roster and the constraints are two different stories.
  2. Hoping Boston's offer wins out to put pressure on the O's. Baltimore needs to be a motivated buyer already. Edit - or NYY. Preferably an AL East team.
  3. Dye, Crede, Pods creating havoc at the top, AJ being AJ, they were way more than “Konerko, Rowand, and Iguchi” offensively.
  4. I think Jermaine Dye would like to have a word.
  5. To be fair, neither does being out slugged at home all season.
  6. It’s wise to at least float that to other teams. The Sox don’t have to accept less if the offers aren’t to their liking. We all want to pull the trigger and follow the new kids in the minors hoping on the future, but the Sox still have that leverage.
  7. Because Baltimore simply refuses to part with their best prospects? IDK. It’s mid December and we are all growing impatient, but there are still a few big FA pitchers unsigned. I’m totally pessimistic about the Sox org, but I still have faith that Cease brings back two studs and a few quality secondaries. If that fails to come to fruition I’ll join you in burning GRF to the ground. But we aren’t quite there yet.
  8. In a perfect world we would have run prevention (pitching & defense) + run production (power & manufacturing runs), but nothing is perfect. The good to great teams have a balance. Pitching & defense keep you in games, but scoring runs wins. That’s at least how I like to think of it. If we were building up a system from scratch with multiple means of finding pitching and hitting, I might focus more on the pitching part. But with only one shot to infuse high end talent into a mostly barren system, I’m choosing bats first.
  9. You know Tony, there is one sure fire way to convince everyone you’re not part of the decision-making process, and that’s to go the f*** away and never have any contact with this team again…
  10. While you can never have enough pitching, with one major asset to trade, getting a haul of bats back is the better value play IMO. But who knows what Getz is thinking. Or what JR or TLR are telling him to think.
  11. Must be nice to print money and actually spend it on good players.
  12. The quality of their system does seem head & shoulders above everyone else.
  13. My opinions are mostly based on reading about them here, but Kjerstad seems like the big get and the best headliner. O’s can probably offer better secondaries than the other two as well. O’s, LAD, ATL, in that order.
  14. The Sox are waiting for him to sign elsewhere before teams get serious about their Cease offers.
  15. I did the “free” route for a long time but the quality and reliability of the legit mlb stream spoiled me. Having the option to switch between tv & radio calls, or home & away also makes it well worth it IMO. Blackouts are dumb but when the local team sucks ass it’s not so bad.
  16. This is basically MLB.tv now. MLB is still tied too deeply with cable providers to go completely streaming, which is fine, they just need to end stupid blackouts. I'd gladly pay extra to stream Sox games, but I refuse to pay for cable in order to do so.
  17. I think that's a given either way. At least for the foreseeable future.
  18. doing what he can to “build that family culture, and how that translates into practicing and getting fundamentals right.” Yeah, um, yikes. How'd that work out for you when you were drunk or napping in the dugout?
