  1. There should be enough suitors to drive the price into the range the Sox will say yes to. I was merely dispelling the notion that Baltimore's refusal to pay up means that Cease's value isn't there. Those poster's aren't right until Cease is traded for less that what we thought, which hasn't happened. Baltimore's prospect hugging =|= Cease having a lower trade value.
  2. Does lack of suitors equate to lack of value? Simply because Baltimore won't part with their precious prospects doesn't mean those posters are right.
  3. I made the mistake of clicking on the condensed quote ...and holy s%*# what the f*** is he even talking about?
  4. We need some level of competition between potential suitors. As long as another team can make a similarly strong offer as the O’s, we can still hope for a haul.
  5. Watching the opposition is my only motivation to go to Sox games, I might have to do the same, laundry be damned.
  6. Damnit, I don’t want to like the Dodgers but they’re making it difficult.
  7. He can always say he didn't like the offers and keep him around to see if he rebounds. Eloy might not be in Getz' long term plans, but he doesn't have to sell low now.
  8. I don't disagree. Letting him rebuild his value is the correct course, but I'm just done with watching him ground out and get hurt doing anything. Same goes for the rest of the deadweight on the roster.
  9. Maybe we can pawn off Eloy on them too and complete the circle.
  10. Even if he were the next great import, JR would never pay him that.
  11. Shohei is a unicorn and Rick Hahn is a dope, but we knew this before ?.
  12. It was something along the lines of calling out posters who complain about everything but never start their own threads. But less tame. In all reality it's just the OP key-stroke vomiting like normal, adding nothing of substance to any discussion. Why he desperately wants to talk about the Cubs specifically is beyond me, or why it necessitates its own thread. There are a thousand other places he could do so, but instead we have this pointless thread.
  13. Exactly. Which is why I believe it will be addressed next time around. Cheap owners certainly won't stand for every rich team giving gobs of money to deserving players after all.
  14. Sure, but we aren't making semantic arguments about the future value of a dollar. For all intents and purposes, deferring 680 million dollars isn't taking less money because he wants to win
  15. I have to imagine this loophole will be remedied in the next CBA, not that many teams are going to be willing to take such a massive hit after the contract expires. As for competitive balance, we pay to watch the players play, not for the the owners make a massive profits. Ownership could and should pay up to make baseball more competitive, but we know that isn't reality.
  16. He's not taking less money though. Him deferring the majority of it isn't taking less, it's simply kicking the can down the road so the Dodgers build a superteam (aka win) during his contract. I personally want more competitive balance across baseball so part of me really hopes this bites them in the ass after he's done.
  17. Is there a window and door company named Championship Windows doing work at Sox Park? Cuz that's as close as any of these guys are gonna get.
  18. To get out of that awful contract. Even if he's plays well next season, why not let someone else deal with the back end of the deal? Especially for a penny pinching org like the Sox. It's not like light hitting mediocre left fielders are hard to come by.
  19. Yup, none of these acquisitions are long term pieces. If any of them are playing well and are desirable deadline pieces, flip them for prospect depth.
