Gilbert even being available is a figment of his imagination. Seattle is looking to add, not create a hole in its rotation when they were in the playoff hunt until the final weekend last season.
-
He's probably in his ivory tower stroking his championship rings muttering to himself about the "awful" state of both leagues.
-
Damnit, there goes the mystery and intrigue. Now the trade is far less interesting.
-
And the Sox aren't exactly known for fixing swings. He'd be pretty pointless.
-
This actually might be the most interesting thing about the trade…?
-
Dumping Eloy at his lowest value would normally seem unwise, but I honestly don’t even care at this point. Good riddance.
-
There would have been rejoicing! Time for some churn even if everyone sucks.
-
I seem to recall the same.
-
I don’t doubt Getz wants to move him, but with his well documented flaws I suspect those bids won’t be super high. An org with a good track record for fixing swings might be willing to take a shot, but i doubt they’d be willing to give up enough to satisfy the Sox demands.

The on-field results probably matter less in 2024 than filling out the roster with cheap warm bodies. They have to keep up appearances after all.
-
Sheets, Foster, Remillard, Romy, Hasley all could go and no one would be upset.
-
Let the DFAs begin!

Thanks MLB, I hate it. Also, f*** Manfred and Fisher. Forever and always.
-
That should already be high on the priority list...

The latest Garfien Podcast: What is a "Spa Day"?

Completely agree. Baseball is a marathon. Regulars should get rest days throughout the season. -

High level athletes recover with the high end treatments available. Do people think NFL players don’t do the same thing? Different sport obviously, but baseball is an everyday grind. Day in and day out. Players getting treatment for the rigours of the sport shouldn’t be looked down upon as pampering. With that said, and we obviously don’t know what was really going on behind the scenes, healthy players taking ‘spa days’ during the season would certainly be a bad look for a 100+ loss team. We don’t actually know what was going on though. Either way, Pedro sucks and should be gone. This is true no matter what the phrase “spa day” actually means. -
Who do you want or think will replace Benetti?
Tnetennba replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Stone will still miss plenty of games. You know Beckham will fill in far too often. -
Meanwhile they let Stone take off as much as he wants and stick us with Beckham… Detroit seems to have no problem with Jason missing 25% of their games. Other teams have rotations to allow for other obligations. But of course the Sox don’t want to be accommodating anymore AKA they don’t want to pay for a replacement 25% of the time.
-
This is really the crux. Benetti leaving is one thing, but leaving for the Tigers is another. And leaving because JR didn't want to pay one of the best of the best that actually wanted to be here. And or didn't like his style etc etc. JR nuking every ounce of goodwill left for his baseball team is what has so many of us at the breaking point. Losing one of the best announcers in the game is that proverbial straw breaking the camel's back. It's not just this, it's every goddamn thing that came before it. It's the culmination of a thousand paper cuts as the old man bleeds the fanbase dry.
-
AKA Jason wasn't a sycophant suck up Hawk clone, so he had to go...
-
The Mariners and Jays both have a rotation on their regular broadcasts. It's not a foreign concept for most teams, but the White Sox are gonna White Sox.
-
Jason is one of the best broadcasters in the biz, period. I get that his Sox calls were sometimes cheesy and campy, but he was ours. If you don't like Jason, I beg of you to watch his national calls. He's really freaking good. Losing him always felt inevitable. But losing him to the Detroit fucking Tigers is the last straw. I had little interest in watching the Sox in 2024, and now I have zero reason. This one hurts, and losing him to a division rival instead of a full time national gig is salt in the wound. Jerry can't shuffle off this mortal coil soon enough.
