  1. And just so everyone knows, Janish is pronounced YAHnish. Or at least according to his Wiki page.
  2. The press release sure went out of its way to state how many Rice guys were drafted during his time there. Whether he had a hand in any of that is anyone's guess.
  3. He signed a minor league deal with KC in 2014, but never played for the big club.
  4. Let the offseason begin. Can't wait for the White Sox to find new and interesting ways to disappoint, with even the lowest of expectations.
  5. RF: Michael Conforto 2B: Whit Merrifield C : Austin Hedges SP: Lucas Giolito / Jack Flaherty Sox weren’t interested in paying Conforto last time around, and last I checked he was still a Boras client. Whit sucks. Period. Stay Away. Hedges probably sucks. Why would the Sox pay Gio enough to put up with them again? Flaherty might be an interesting bounce back candidate, but any of these hardly moves the needle for a 101 loss team.
  6. The water carrying media sell job started early this year I see.
  7. Semien and Seager might say otherwise ?
  8. I'm saying that in response to a previous post. I don't think Butler or Lavine are best player on a championship level team, so ultimately you are in the same spot, just not good enough. I'm not the biggest Butler fan, and I think they got fair value in the trade (aftermath is a different story), but I don't lament Butler not being here. The old FO couldn't find the right fit around him to win it all, and I doubt the current regime would either. Hindsight being what it is, I'd easily take Butler's level of success elsewhere here instead of the busted-ass approach since. But it ultimately falls on ownership to pay up and I don't think they would have either way. I don't think you can look at what Butler has done elsewhere and think it could or should have happened here. Bulls ownership and FO are just too inept to make that happen.
  9. Has Butler gotten a team over the hump elsewhere? Let’s not forget that the old FO surrounded Butler with Rondo a broken down Wade, and handed the coaching gig to boobs like Hoiberg and Boylen or whatever his name was. Those teams were maxed out as a regular playoff team never good enough to go all the way.
  10. Eh, I'm pulling for AZ, but I really have no horse in the race. I think the D-backs have better pitching depth and with the next 3 at home have a huge advantage. Of course I don't want baseball to end, so I need some crazy chaos from Texas so this goes 6 or 7.
  11. I hated the pick when it was made and nothing has swayed my view that it was a colossal mistake.
  12. Of course he is ?. Still waiting for Getz to show he’s even remotely qualified for the gig…
  13. She certainly knows more about baseball than you ever will. Just saying…
  14. Eh. Philly was just last year. Would you rather NYY, Boston, Cleve, Det, Minny, or the Cubs make it regularly?
  15. At least it’s not Merkin blowing smoke in the standard off-season puff pieces…
  16. Gotta love starting the offseason trying to put a positive spin on a whole lot of 'IFs'
  17. So running back what didn’t work last season already isn’t working this season? Funny how that goes…
  18. I'd rather be in the Phillies shoes than taking the White Sox approach of misallocated spending and random playoff appearances wishing and hoping on a prayer...
  19. Harper and Wheeler make this team look a lot different. So would have a Hinch hiring. But do Eloy and Moncada still essentially bust? Kopech and Gio massively regress? It's tough to say if they'd be World Series bound at any point between 2020 and now. We'd have a hell of a lot more hope though.
  20. Rangers have an owner willing to spend on premier FA. Rangers hired a baseball person to run the baseball team. Rangers' prospects developed properly and didn't bust after injury or unearned high dollar extensions. Rangers didn't hamstring the FO with asinine short sided restrictions. Rangers reached out to a HOF manager who wasn't drinking away his twilight years while being out of the dugout for a decade.
