  1. Perhaps not completely meaningless, but also not an indicator of immediate success in the bigs. Mercedes has been a fun watch and I believe he can hit in the bigs, but his roster fit just isn't there IMO.
  2. Correct. And based on who has played more and who subs in first, Cuthbert looks to be first in line for the 26th man. His D sucks, but he can at least play on the infield, and is easy to cut when the time comes.
  3. .407/.515.815, 3HR, 2 2B, 6RBI, 4BB, 5K, 5R in 27ABs - Chelsor Cuthbert .381/.409/1.000 4HR, 1 2B, 9RBI, 1BB, 5K, 6R in 21ABs - Yermin Mercedes One has played defense in the major leagues before, and the other is not a major league defender at all. I love me some spring Yermin, but I don't see how he's the 26th man unless there is an injury to Abreu or EE when they break camp.

    Cuts

The difference is that Eloy was playing in A games with the regulars, and Madrigal hasn't been. Eloy was mashing last sping and Madrigal's play hasn't exactly been knocking anyone's socks off. I will be really surprised if he is on the opening day roster at this point.
  5. They have said they don't intend to do a straight platoon with him, but we'll have to see how many lefties he actually faces. Adam Engel has been getting a lot of time in RF this spring so far, and next to near none for Leury. If that is indicative of anything I don't know.

    Cuts

I could be reading too much into it, but it seems to me like guys coming back from injury rehab are getting safer assignments to start. Flores hasn't been particularly good this spring from what I have seen so perhaps the same applies.
  7. I would guess Fulmer gets the last pen spot and the bench will be McCann, Mendick, Cuthbert, and Engel, with Engel getting the first shot at platooning with Mazara.
