  1. Officially Official! Actually surprised it was Covey DFAd but also totally ok with it!
  2. I just checked and it looks like the bleachers and whole outfield is sold out. Upper corners start at $25 and range up to $39 for the upper deck. Cheapest lower bowl looks like $75 in sec 108 & 156.
  3. The Sox will someday have a manager better than Renteria, but it won't be AJ Hinch.
  4. Probably true. But i'd still rather see Mendick or someone else as the backup INF over Yolmer.
  5. And Yolmer is never a guy that you want pinch hitting either. Leury is already on the roster, and while not the defender Yolmer is, Leury can at least hit and isn't a total black hole at the plate when he does need to fill in. At a fraction of the cost.
  6. If it weren't beneficial, why keep doing it?? ?
  7. Players were complicit, even if unpunished...
  8. I assume this is the same mini-camp they've been doing with their top prospects the past few years? Not sure. Still nice to see guys putting in work!
  9. Probably true. But doesn't help it look like anything but a light punishment.
  10. Yup. $5M for the org is nothing. Suspensions for executives feel like a slap on the wrist. No punishment for any of the players that participated either.
  11. Even if it took only prospects, they'd be what, $35M over the very luxury tax that has kept them sitting on their hands all winter? Without a full starting staff or pen. Yeah...
  12. Honestly, this just sold me. If any of our starting OFs need an IL stint, Engel's shortcomings are quickly exposed. If Leury is going to be more backup INF over OF, Maybin does make a lot of sense.
  13. Our old friend Héctor Gómez did tweet this earlier.
  14. Perhaps I should have stated that I'm less concerned as a Sox fan if the Cubs are a playoff team again in the near future. They could be good and it would bother me way less than when their 2016 bandwagon was omnipresent everywhere i went in the city. As gross as it was to see Cubs gear in Bridgeport and McKinley park, if the Sox are in the playoffs I don't think that happens again. The Twins standing in the Sox way is a way bigger concern for me.
  15. Cubs are pretty maxed out with an already poor farm and it would take a lot maneuvering for even a 'retool.' Their bandwagon has faded back to pre-2016. I'm more concerned about the Twins being in the Sox way in the near future.
  16. Throwing gobs of money at the draft and international really was his edge, and with caps on both he hasn't done much. It would be an interesting hypothetical to see what he would do rebuilding a 3rd franchise from scratch under the current CBA.
  17. I want no part of watching Covey pitch for the Sox ever again, but his option has roster value. Its more valuable than he himself is IMO, but thats pretty much why he hasn't been released yet. They can dump him any time, but there are others that they can't stash that will be removed first.
  18. If true its not overly surprising. I could see a stopgap 2B and maybe a few minor league contracts for pen arms. Beyond that the roster looks pretty full.
