All of a sudden these clowns are only three games out of first. ?

Would be very interested to read more about the Einhorn/body guards story. Do you have any links?

Why should anyone be surprised after last season, this off-season and the cancellation of Sox Fest. Hope it continues, Sox fans shouldn't waste their money on this incompetent organization/team.

LA Times assesses White Sox/Dodgers trade possibilities
Lip Man 1 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Saw on Twitter a post from the MLB Trade Rumor site that says Rosenthal today has a story out that the only players the Sox would consider trading are the guys who will become free agents at the end of the year. If they are a "non-rental" player the Sox are leaning towards keeping them. -
The Sox have been "baseball-stupid" in regards to fundamentals for years. Every year we hear/read the same crap in spring training, "we're working on it," "we're devoting a lot of time to fundamentals." But when they season starts the stupidity comes to the forefront. Nothing changes.

June 16, 1997 - After numerous charity and exhibition games, the Sox and Cubs played for real for the first time in the regular season when they met at the new Comiskey Park. Since then, the two teams have played each other every season multiple times. After playing each other four times in 2022 the Sox had a 73-65 advantage in the regular season meetings.

Here's the stat that matters and basically it is the only one : 30-39 going into Thursday night. Rebuild is a failure, time for massive changes in the players on the roster and the people in the front office.

Echoes a lot of what I've been told and written about. Regarding Kenny different people have told me his deal is up either this year or next year then he is retiring.

DVS of the Sun-Times confirms Moncada back to the IL list. I wonder how this will impact Sox decisions in the future regarding their players participating in the WBC. Grifol said earlier this year his back was screwed up by the long, round the world flights from Arizona to Taiwan, Taiwan to Miami and Miami back to Arizona. Another one bites the dust.

The White Sox need a total culture change

Very true. -
You probably don't need to worry about Jerry selling based on the story I wrote last August. Link is in a post above. The tax hit is significant around 200 million dollars.

Anything is possible but I suspect the chances of the Sox being moved are small, very small. To much money at stake in the 3rd biggest market (shared or not) in the U.S. Far to many lucrative advertising, broadcasting and sponsorship opportunities here. You aren't going to get the same value say in Portland, Salt Lake City, Charlotte or Montreal.

It doesn't pass if it is written into his will. I have no idea if this is the case or not but I'm inclined to think it is given how strongly and repeatedly he has stated his intentions for the future. And yes, he will not sell while he is alive (barring completely unexpected events) because of the tax hit. https://www.southsidesox.com/2022/8/29/23325369/jerry-reinsdorf-selling-chicago-white-sox-not-on-his-life Regarding Michael, anything is possible but I have never heard anyone tell me that he has expressed any interest in refuting his dad's wishes and taking control of the club. His dad has made it clear, sell the Sox because in his words "they don't make money." (Where the Bulls do). The Sox of course, DO make money, a lot of it but that is JR's take.

As DVS of the Sun-Times wrote just a few days ago, this was the 16th time since Eloy came up that he has missed time with injuries. At least four of those injuries that I recall, took place with him trying to play the outfield and landed him on the IL with ankle or leg issues.

The White Sox need a total culture change
Lip Man 1 replied to brijames1957's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No question a losers mentality has spread throughout this entire organization. Since the start of the 2007 season they have had five winning years, one .500 season and 10 losing ones (soon to be 11) -
My sources as explained in the past all are connected to the White Sox organization in a professional way sometimes for decades. The individuals I've spoken with and developed a relationship over the years don't have an ax to grind, they see what is taking place. You can believe what they are saying or not...completely up to you. But you can't dismiss what has been happening on and off the field for the past several seasons now with an organization that is so dysfunctional they don't even want to face the fan base at Sox fest. My comment about how he is feeling as stated is my own impression which I made clear. But if you are interested here is one of the comments about TA I was told from the people inside and outside the organization that I spoke with this past October and published in November: Question: Is there hope for the season? “It could happen, maybe there’s a 5% chance this front office could get it right. But first the front office has to admit they made mistakes. The catcher (Yamani Grandal), third baseman (Moncada) and shortstop (Tim Anderson) need to go. They need to get guys with a higher baseball acumen, the lack of urgency, the way they beat themselves this season was embarrassing. Anderson needs to go because the organization gave him the keys to the car and he drove it off the cliff. And he’s getting up in years (Author’s Note: Anderson will turn 30 this season), get something for him while you can, some talented young players. The organization also needs a major off season from the scouts, they have to find guys they can buy low on with a good upside and hope they produce.”

It is in his contract that JR has the power to sell or not sell regardless of what the minority owners want. Literally they have no say in the matter, none. It is completely up to him if he wants to sell or to whom he'd want to sell the club. When JR leaves the scene he has already publicly said, and he's been consistent about it in those rare times it has come up, that his wish is for his family to keep the Bulls and sell the White Sox. The current minority owners who are all about the same age as JR do not have the capital to buy the team which is why many are speculating the next owner will be a corporation.

He's not selling so that leaves only one alternative.

Grifol hinted yesterday thus was a possibility with Moncada. Wouldn't surprise me if he had to have the surgery that Hahn said wasn't needed 80% of the time in these cases. Remember these are the White Sox with their "crack" medical. training and conditioning staffs. Time to cut bait with every one of these injury prone guys. They simply are never going to be healthy. Period.

June 15, 1950 – It was only the beginning for him. Sox pitcher Billy Pierce threw a one-hitter, the first of the four he had in his career. Pierce shut down the Yankees at Comiskey Park winning 5-0. The only Yankee hit that afternoon, came off the bat of infielder Billy Johnson who singled to right in the fifth inning. Pierce would strike out seven for the afternoon. Two of the five Sox runs were unearned because of an error by Johnson. June 15, 1958 - Sox pitchers Jim Wilson and Dick Donovan both fired complete game shutouts in beating the Orioles in a double header at Baltimore. The Sox won 3-0 and 4-0. Later that day the Sox acquired pitcher Bob Shaw as part of a four-player deal with Detroit. Shaw would come up big for the Sox during the 1959 pennant winning season going 18-6 with a 2.69 ERA. Shaw began that season in the bullpen working with Sox pitching coach Ray Berres. After some refinements he was given a start in Boston where he shut out the Red Sox winning 5-0. After that he became a regular in the starting rotation and would cap off his year by winning a game in the World Series against the Dodgers at the Coliseum 1-0, with relief help, beating Sandy Koufax. June 15, 1975 – It was a move made at the trading deadline that showed great foresight by Sox General Manager Roland Hemond. Hemond shipped pitcher Stan Bahnsen, who never recaptured the magic from 1972 to the A’s for pitcher Dave Hamilton and prospect Chet Lemon. Hamilton would save 25 games including nine in 1977, win 16 more and never have an ERA above 3.61 Lemon would go on to a pair of All-Star Games representing the Sox and would become one of the best center fielders in baseball. Offensively he led the league with 44 doubles in 1979. In his six full years with the Sox Lemon would collect 278 extra base hits and drive in 347 RBI’s. His ability to cover ground, especially in spacious Comiskey Park, was unmatched in the league. June 15, 1979 - With the Sox going nowhere G.M. Roland Hemond began looking towards the future. He traded third baseman Eric Soderholm to the Rangers for two players, one of whom was Chicago native Ed Farmer. Farmer would go on to make the All-Star team the next year, finish with 30 saves and become a top closer. In his three seasons with the club he’d save 54 games with 13 wins. His association with the Sox continued as a broadcaster in 1992 until his death in April 2020. June 15, 1983 - Sox G.M. Roland Hemond swapped second basemen with the Mariners getting Julio “The Juice” Cruz for Tony Bernazard. Cruz energized the bottom half of the order, stole 24 bases, drove in 40 RBI’s and provided stellar defense to help the Sox go on a rampage and win the Western Division by a then record 20 games over second place Kansas City. June 15, 2004 - Sox slugger Carlos Lee established the team record when he got a hit in 28 straight games. It broke the old mark held by Luke Appling and Albert Belle. Lee ripped 45 hits in the streak (his uniform number), with 11 doubles and 22 RBI’s. Oddly though he only hit one home run!

7th time this season the Sox trailed in the 7th inning or later...and won. I'm guessing Lambert gets called up when Clevinger goes on the IL. Not that it really matters but Hahn's refusal to get any starting pitching depth more and more looks like an short sighted, imbicilic move.

Some of what you say has merit to it but you also have to realize some (most) of Tim's "issues" are self inflicted. It wasn't JR's fault he flipped off the fans in Cleveland, it wasn't Brooks' fault he's gotten into umpire confrontations and been suspended and it wasn't Hahn's fault for his shall we say, "off the field" escapades. By no means defending this incompetent, dysfunctional and inept organization but individuals have to take responsibilities for their actions as well. I sincerely think he's in a funk because he saw all those other shortstops he feels he's better then get nine figure deals while the Sox haven't even opened contract extensions talks (at least that we know of)

Maybe based on his numbers he needs to "try harder".

Athletic fired Fegan in Jun23, now hired with Sox Machine
Lip Man 1 replied to ThirdGen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Well in this case the writer in question was providing good information on the team and doing the fan base an excellent service. You think Merkin is going to do what Fegan did? ?
