  1. Even in the Comedy Central division, that team wouldn't be competitive.
  2. Well Moncada already missed a month on the IL, if his back is still that bad then maybe they should have had surgery back in early April. Hahn said in 80% of the time it's not necessary...but these are the White Sox remember. Good fortune usually laughs in their face.
  3. Exactly correct. Nine...make it nine times this team took a lead into the 7th inning or later and lost the game. Nine. Fourth time out of those nine they lost the lead in the 9th inning. Graveman has been directly responsible for two of them (Which considering guys like Kelly and Lopez isn't that bad.) The good news? They can't blow another late lead tomorrow because they are off.
  4. Normally you'd love to have a guy with his talent in the lineup but given his history the past few years, not being able to stay off the IL, the lack of power, the key errors in the field maybe it's not as much of an issue anymore. Something is just wrong with Anderson and has been for a long time now.
  5. You post fwar and bwar and abc war numbers showing supposedly how "good" guys like Anderson, Moncada et al are. Then the only question that remains is, if these guys are so good, why has this rebuild been a failure? (and I realize they aren't totally responsible for the failure) Regarding the ignore function you have to do what you think best, again that's your right, just like it is your right to celebrate as you see fit. No problem.
  6. June 11, 1939 - Sox pitcher Ted Lyons began his streak of 41 consecutive innings pitched without issuing a walk. The streak would last through his game on July 23 when he walked the Yankees Frank Crosetti to lead off the game. In 172 innings pitched that season Lyons would only walk 27 hitters, one intentionally. June 11, 1959 – It was the fourth and last one-hitter in Billy Pierce’s White Sox career. On this date he beat the Senators 3-1 at Griffith Stadium. Shortstop Ron Samford’s double to left leading off the third inning was the Nats only safety. Billy struck out six in the contest but wasn’t guaranteed a win until the Sox scored a pair of runs in the top of the ninth inning. June 11, 1965 – In Washington, in the first game of a double header, the Sox beat the Senators 5-2 to collect the franchise’s 5,000th win. Juan Pizarro got the victory with Eddie Fisher picking up the save. Pete Ward knocked in two runs to lead the Sox offense. Then they’d win the second game 5-4 in 10 innings on a home run by Don Buford. The Sox would go 95-67 that season and finish in second place seven games behind the Twins.
  7. Each fan is entitled to experience the team in his or her own fashion. Bottom line, regardless of what the numbers say (and as you well know stats can be manipulated to show day is night and night is day along with 2+2=5) the rebuild is a complete failure, the core players have been mediocre at best, can't stay healthy and the win-lost record is the ultimate arbitrator. "Error" or no "error" being charged Anderson screwed up yet another play in a key situation. But no one is stopping you from taking a "positive" "rose colored" approach to another lost season of failure. That is certainly your right. My bottom line is winning, at least winning more games than you lose when all is said and done. Anything else is totally meaningless to me. I for one find nothing to be positive about when the club ends the year in third place 10 games or so under .500 with an incompetent, dysfunctional and inept front office/ownership still in place. But again to each his own and I'm not ripping you for your approach.
  8. The last I saw they had spent the most money in MLB on bullpen pitchers.
  9. People forget that from 1951 through 1967 the Sox were one of the best organizations in baseball. 17 straight winning seasons which if memory serves is the fourth longest streak in MLB history, seven years with 90+ wins, consistent pennant contender, got the lions share of media attention in Chicago and had something like 86 All-Star members during that time period. It was the "Golden Age."
  10. Remember he missed three weeks last year with the same issue and because, as he's stated, he's been pitching with a torn UCL sine 2008, his elbow has been battling the increased inflammation off and on since then. Ultimately this hurts his potential trade value at the deadline.
  11. Possible. But remember he missed three weeks last year with the same issue and because, as he's stated, he's been pitching with a torn UCL sine 2008, his elbow has been battling the increased inflammation off and on since then. Ultimately this hurts his potential trade value at the deadline.
  12. This team has little future and needs to be torn down at the trade deadline regardless of how far back they are in the "Comedy Central" division. The issue of course is the same incompetent, dysfunctional, inept front office will be in charge of the most recent tear down/rebuild. But keeping the status quo with this "baseball-stupid" club also isn't a winning solution.
  13. "But this collapse was a failure in all three phases. Kelly, for his control. Anderson, for his defense. And the offense, for producing just one run on an Andrew Vaughn solo homer." - Rob Schaefer Chicago Sun-Times.
  14. Given this was supposed to be in the middle of a window of contention and not mired in mediocrity, having a 10% chance is a complete embarrassment.
  15. 8th time this year the Sox led in the 7th inning or later...and lost. 3rd time out of those eight games they lost the lead in the 9th inning. Kelly has been directly responsible for three of those eight blown games that were lost.
  16. Very true. Offense has been brutal. They simply aren't going to keep winning games 2-1, 3-0, 4-3 like they have been recently. This isn't the 1967 White Sox and as good as they were doing that came up short in the end.
  17. This didn't age well today did it? TA is like Ozzie, he started to believe his press clippings. He can't stay healthy, he's lost all power it seems, his concentration on the field disappears and it leads to issues and his arrogance is a turn-off because he's not backing it up. "I'm the best player on the field..." Really? Then get your head out of your ass and show it. I also suspect, pure speculation on my part, he's pissed he's not being offered a nine figure extension. I've got news for him, unless JR is gone he won't be getting it with the White Sox and the way he's playing probably not from anyone else.
  18. But remember according to TA he's "the best player on the field..." ?
  19. Great...he blew two ground balls (errors) with a man on third who scored. He made a very good play last night to nab a guy. Making mistakes two out of every three times isn't a recipe for success. We'll see what happens as we get a larger sample size.
  20. June 10, 1952 - Sox outfielder Sam Mele set the franchise record with six RBI’s in one inning. In the fourth inning of a game at Philadelphia, Mele hit a three-run homer, then batted again and knocked in three more with a triple! The Sox sent 15 men to the plate, scored 12 in the frame and would wind up winning it 15-4. They hit three home runs in the 12-run inning including an inside-the-park, three-run home run by Hector Rodriguez. It would be the only home run he ever hit in the Major Leagues. June 10, 1961 - With owner Bill Veeck in ill health, his group sold the White Sox to Chicagoan Art Allyn. Veeck only owned the club for two and a half years the first time around. Allyn paid $2,500,000 for the team. On the same day of the sale, the Sox made an eight-player deal that netted the team pitchers Ray Herbert, Don Larsen and infielder Andy Caray from Kansas City. One week later the Sox began a 12-game winning streak that saved the season. They beat up Minnesota, Cleveland, Washington and Detroit during it. They’d rebound from last place in May to finish fourth at 86-76-1. Herbert would then go on to win 20 games in 1962. June 10, 1964 - Sox manager Al Lopez was hanged in effigy in the players’ parking lot by angry fans. It all stemmed from the feud that developed between Gold Glove outfielder Jim Landis and Sox management. Landis, as the team player representative, went to management letting them know that unless the players got $50 dollars instead of a radio for appearing on major radio or TV stations, like WGN, they would no longer do so. G.M. Ed Short and Lopez then took the players demands out on him, the messenger, benching him for long stretches of the season. Sox fans, along with sports reporter/columnist Bill Gleason organized a ‘Jim Landis Night’ for the player but it wasn’t recognized by the team and Landis was held out of the lineup by Lopez in favor of “Minnie” Minoso. Sox fans showered the outfield with envelopes containing money for Landis only to have Minoso pick them up and tuck them into his pocket! The Sox won the game 2-1 against the Orioles. June 10, 2011 – Sox first baseman Paul Konerko set the franchise record when he got an extra base hit in his ninth consecutive game. The streak started back on May 30 in Boston and included games against Detroit, Seattle and Oakland. In that time frame Konerko bashed six home runs and three doubles. He drove in 12 RBI’s.
  21. Anytime the offense wants to show up and make things easier for the pitchers is fine by me.
  22. You sir need to buy a lottery ticket today! Grifoil just said that Eloy will be out "four to five days" but they are "hoping" to avoid putting him on the IL. Left leg lower calf issue. LET'S PLAY SHORTHANDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ????? This organization is remarkable for its stupidity.
  23. So has Eloy been placed on the IL yet???????????????? ?
  24. Maybe he does put it together but it won't be with the White sox. If you believe Garfein "he gone" after 2024.
