  1. I'll have to take your word for it, I thought he had three more years on his deal. But if you are correct then he's another DFA candidate in my view.
  2. In addition the Sox set the record for the earliest elimination for any team since playoffs were expanded back in 1969. They beat the orioles record by three days.
  3. You're exactly correct there is no hope until new ownership arrives. And I believe this is the 18th straight game the Sox have lost that Flexen has started.
  4. And I think he still has a few more years on his contract to suck for the White Sox.
  5. Their record would be a LOT better that's for sure!
  6. Agreed, when he's off the injured list waive him goodbye.
  7. I haven't seen, heard or read word one from Hahn since the day after he was fired.
  8. If he continues to own the club, JR probably won't "blame" Getz for three years at least.
  9. I don't know if salary had a lot to do with it. JR in particular, I was told, simply didn't care for Jason's "style" for wont of a better word. The social references, pop culture comments, kidding around with Stone and the analytic end. JR wants more of an "straight" broadcast. Just tell me the facts and broadcast the game. But if nothing else the well was poisoned after this happened. This is what I was told for a story in November 2022: “Jason Benetti’s deal with the Sox is up, the Sox hold the option for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. He went to Fox to negotiate that deal with them after he was told to do it and then come back to the Sox and they’d work something out. Jason wanted to get the deal done with the Sox first and then go to Fox or ESPN or whoever. Turns out when he came back to the Sox and said that he needs 40 days off so he can do the Fox work he was told, ‘no, that’s not happening.’ So I don’t know what’s going to happen to him or Steve Stone.” There didn't seem to be any going back after this.
  10. Not when your team is a laughingstock and the organization is incompetent, dysfunctional and inept. No thank you.

  12. Comments like what Brooks told the Sun-Times makes me wonder if the organization even watches the games/broadcasts.
  13. “If you listen to the broadcast, they’re really good. . . . John does a good job of bringing Steve in and out and letting him be what he is, which is an amazing analyst.”--Brooks Boyer
  14. Is Katz responsible for the stiffs, has-been's and never was's in the bullpen? You can't make chicken salad out of chicken s%*# can you? Not completely defending him but that is a lot of hot garbage in the bullpen which is partially why they have taken a lead into the 7th inning or later 24 times now...and lost the game.
  15. They updated things on Thursday and here is what they said about the Sox: 11. Chicago White Sox 2024 preseason rank: 20 2023 midseason rank: 20 2023 preseason rank: 26 2022 midseason rank: 26 Top 100 prospects: Noah Schultz, LHP (No. 15); Colson Montgomery, SS (No. 28); Hagen Smith, LHP (No. 32 Edgar Quero, C (No. 63) The White Sox are enduring a dismal season in the Majors but their farm system has improved from 26th entering 2023 to the cusp of the top 10, thanks to two promising Drafts and a series of veterans-for-prospects deals. Twenty of the prospects on their Top 30 have joined the organization since the start of last year, with the notable exceptions of 2022 first-rounder Schultz and 2021 first-rounder Montgomery. Chicago is tied with the Marlins for the second-most ranked prospects (11, one behind the Rays) acquired in trades but is tied for last with the Athletics with just two via the international market.
  16. Tonight marked the 24th time the Sox took a lead into the 7th inning or later...and lost the game. I'm guessing when all is said and done it will be up to 30 times by seasons end.
  17. When you have "baseball-stupid" players plus an organization that apparently doesn't know how to teach fundamentals nor hold people accountable when they continually mess up, this is what you get.
  18. I don't know what the tax laws are in this case, sorry. To his credit JR has always been very good about donating to good causes, Billy Pierce told me about all the money he donated to help Chicago Cancer Charities for example. It's unfortunate that he doesn't seem to care as much about the product he puts on the field.

  20. From Fegan's story at Sox Machine: "Although it’s been grueling to watch the outcomes to these games I also need to take a step back and understand there is a big picture focus to this too,” Getz said on Friday. “There’s many departments that need time and energy and improvement, so as we look forward we can put ourselves in position to have sustainable success. That’s really been my focus and will remain my focus.” What departments could those be? After a year that has seen the White Sox release seven-figure international signings Yoelqui Céspedes, Norge Vera and most recently Erick Hernández, whose time in the organization ended before making it to a full-season affiliate, the front office aims to bring significant changes to the international scouting operation. That would ideally include upgrading and/or even moving their Dominican Academy.
