  1. He sure looked great in left field on opening day at home didn't he? He's an infielder trying to play the outfield (like Delmonico) and that usually doesn't work very well.
  2. Very impressive performance. Hope is alive.
  3. Dunning looks pretty good to me.
  4. Had to be done. Kid right now is probably a mess. Personally I would have sent him to Double A to start rebuilding things then work him back up if he figured it out. If not? Then you've got another major draft bust by the organization.
  5. I think he can be a solid role player for the team moving forward and who knows if Burger never gets on the field, he could be the starting 3rd baseman when (if) they actually get good in two years.
  6. 3rd time this year Sox have won when trailing in the 7th inning or later. Refreshing change. On the postgame show Melton was wondering how Jones continues to get himself in trouble with the "stuff" he has.
  7. Gonzales is done / gone assuming either Rodon or Kopech arrives.
  8. I think this is the game you are referring to. It was in Baltimore. I remember listening to it in Louisiana where I was working at the time. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/1983/B08050BAL1983.htm
  9. And the 1981 season when the Sox had the town buzzing, new ownership and just two games (I think off the lead) when things shut down. It would be so very White Sox for it to happen again to them a third time.
  10. "It's time to talk about the Sox young pitching..." YES! Please! Anyting to not have to talk about how bad the major league pitching is!
  11. I think this is called a win, been a long time since I've seen one. Don't know how they did it with Giolito awful again and the Cubs running wild on Narvaez but you take it and thank the baseball gods.
  12. He's 32, I don't think anything is going to change now.
  13. Well to be fair in early August 2010 as I recall the Sox were in first place. Then it seemed the entire bullpen went on the DL for a time and that ended that rather quickly. Can't blame Ozzie for all the injuries which ruined another Sox season much like 2001, 2004.
  14. It's still going to come down to can this front office / organization... draft / develop the young talent and can they acquire the right veteran pieces through trades or free agency. Hahn has publicly said the money will be there when the time is right. We'll see. And we'll see if the guys the Sox target want to come here. All pieces / questions in play that we should know the answers to in two more seasons. Not that long to wait I guess.
  15. Maybe. He appears to be made of glass and can't stay healthy. We'll see.
  16. I'm not saying TO cut him, I'm not saying the Sox WILL cut him, the question was asked would I be OK with it if they did and my answer is yes. It wouldn't bother me at all since he's not going to be in their long range plans and as bad as he's been overall (save for a fluke year) the Sox won't get much if anything for him in trade.
  17. Yes, no problem with it, since they are rebuilding, Maybe it would give Palka more opportunities. He's probably not much better but until he gets a lot of chances you never know for sure. Avi has had plenty of chances since he was acquired.
  18. Maybe you should send an application to JR for the G.M. position! ?
  19. Avi always seems to be injured, or out of shape (by his own admission) and outside of last year has basically done very little since he was acquired as a "centerpiece" for a new beginning. (So much so the Sox put him on the cover of the pocket schedules that came out I want to say in 2015). It was a good gamble by Hahn but it didn't work out and they can cut bait with him soon enough.
  20. Avi has done nothing this year. Don't think he makes any real difference.
  21. Even in a rebuild that was embarrassing today. Fulmer looks awful as a starting pitcher but he is still young, I get it. But more errors, more baserunning blunders (getting picked off second when you are down five runs?) even in a rebuild guys should be expected to do the simple fundamental things. This team is challenged even to do stuff that should have been learned a long time ago. Rebuild or not.
  22. That slogan is well played but you've been beating this drum for a long time now about ownership / front office. (Going so far as to post that according to some friends of yours with connections JR was going to sell within two years--which didn't happen) And it is true, new ownership / front office is badly needed but it's not happening until fate takes its course with JR. That's something he's said clearly time after time. We need to accept the reality of the situation and hope we live long enough to see the rebuild work or new ownership come into play. That's all we can do at this point.
