  1. If this deal goes down Lawrie will be an improvement (how can anybody be worse?) but let's keep things in perspective, you still aren't talking about a 25 home run , 100 RBI guy at the position which is traditionally a big time power spot in your lineup. Again he'll help but he's not an All-Star by any means. (And yes I know they are in short supply...) Mark
  2. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 05:50 AM) Because there are massive holes on this team and org across the board. The chances of success are small and the chances of setting the org. back several years are high. The Six tried that patch up approach most of the last 8 seasons and it failed miserably. The one year they didn't and acquired young players, they improved 10 games. Well stated. And remember who is still basically running the show. Lots of evidence says it's still Kenny. Mark
  3. Another example that shows baseball is swimming in cash. That's how he can get 10 million. Any owner who cries "poor" is lying through their teeth. Don't blame the players for taking the money, careers are short...they can't play for 40 years. Mark
  4. There's a reason a guy with this much talent has been moved around as often as he has been. I'd stay away from him. And if Kenny Williams "loves" Upton, that's even more reason to stay FAR away. This is Hahn's show (supposedly) not Kenny's. Mark
  5. Our long national nightmare is over. More deadwood off the tree. Should have been done last year. We'll see how many teams are interested in a "pitch framing" stiff who can't hit, can't block balls or throw out base runners. Thank God. No guarantees they'll bring in anybody better but how could they find someone who is worse??? Mark
  6. Trading LaRoche would be a good thing. Mark
  7. Anything and anybody that takes playing time away from Flowers is a very good thing. If Avila is healthy he's a better defensive catcher and if he can hit above .220 he's an improvement there as well. Mark
  8. Given the fragility of pitchers today (in part because of pitch counts...) you can never have to much pitching in my opinion. It is still the most precious commodity in the game. Mark
  9. Given what's gone on with the Cardinals pitching staff, that's where he needs to go. The question is, would St. Louis, because of the circumstances, move away from their philosophy and aggressively go after free agent pitching. Mark
  10. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 04:32 PM) Yup. Offseason fluff, I guess. Coming next, "Rick Hahn states that the White Sox are looking to win more games in 2016" He already has...LOL. Mark
  11. Can't argue with it. Strikeouts are nice but wins are nicer in my opinion and Sale was simply inconsistent this year save for that stretch of 10 or so games. Mark
  12. Offer was expected and its expected he's leaving. Which is fine with me. By the way Sullivan tonight has a story at the Tribune saying the Cubs "have their sites on him..." It would be typical for him to have a good season next year, with some other team. Mark
  13. Kendrick would be a nice addition I think. Mark
  14. If another team in the division is smart they'll sign him just to torture the White Sox. According to STATS he's got the highest percentage of career RBI's against one team IN HISTORY! Mark
  15. Good move. let him go. Thanks for everything by time to move on. Hope he's not back. Let Saladino man the position or sign a one year stop gap until Anderson is ready. Mark
  16. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 10:45 AM) They were a excellent duo. Agreed. Mark
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 01:42 PM) Albers, Beckham, Samardzija, and Soto filed for free agency. 40-man is at 34. Free agents can start signing with new teams on Saturday. Only ones I'd even think about bringing back are Soto as a back up and Albers. Mark
  18. Don't know what to think about this save for the following. The ghost of Sherm Lollar would still be better than Tyler Flowers as a starting catcher. Mark

  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 25, 2015 -> 10:35 AM) Last year it was luck or a fluke in the WC game...this year it was the umpiring. What will it be next season as the excuse? If Ned Yost is worse than Ventura and Moore isn't that good either, why haven't the White Sox with exponentially more resources been able to pull off the same seemingly easy feat? Good question. I'll wait to see how someone decides to try to answer it. Mark
  23. QUOTE (Wanne @ Oct 23, 2015 -> 03:29 PM) ' To this day still my all time favorite Sox player to watch....bar none. He was absolutely amazing. There was really nothing the guy couldn't do....and some of the HRs would hit...good lord. He hit one that was at the base of the scoreboard in CF against the O's I believe...and a line drive at that. We were in RF that day. And of course the 3 run-pinch hit hr off Sparky Lyle in the 9th was still the best I've ever seen in person. That was a great link Lip...thanks. Allen was an amazing player for sure. The center field hold run came off Lindy McDaniel of the Yankees. Mark
  24. Unfortunate that he didn't address one single issue that Sox fans are concerned about today regarding the state of his franchise (of course he may have agreed to the interview only under certain conditions, he has done so in the past...) Basically a fluff piece. Mark
