  1. If new ownership arrives in the next two/three years and cleans everybody out it is possible a contention window could be six/seven years away. It would depend on how aggressive new ownership would be and how much money they would be willing to spend.
  2. Fundamentals have been an unknown word to this organization for years. The only real meaningful change comes when new ownership arrives. If I had to guess I'm thinking Steve was talking about Grifol (fall guy) and his staff.
  3. Tampa Bay has been doing it this way for years. The difference is they have a scouting/ minor league developmental system that is second to none, so when they let guys go, they have guys brought up who are just as good, sometimes even better. Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and even Cleveland have also let good players go before hitting arbitration seasons and/or free agency. Commissioner has no authority over how individual teams conduct their business. He could possibly do something under the "best interest of baseball" clause but of course if he did, the owners would get together and fire him like with Fay Vincent.
  4. Saw this stat this morning, it may also turn out to be a record. Grifol is 2-12 in challenges so far this season. He's been thrown out of more games than challenges won. ?
  5. Supposedly they tried, nothing happened and they are going to deal him.
  6. And Grifol's quote today on "fundamentals" is just as idiotic.
  7. I'm a broadcaster for Idaho State University in the Big Sky Conference. BIG DIFFERENCE between those kids and professional players getting paid millions and millions of dollars supposedly to perform. And no, ISU doesn't have huge NIL deals for their athletes. To answer your question I'd never call those kids clowns and buffoons They are amatures but when they have played badly I HAVE called them out because I also have an obligation to the audience to be truthful. I have gotten into hot water at times because of it but that's what happens when you have a conflict of interest situation between the school, which is paying me, and the obligation to my profession and the listeners/viewers. I respected Jack as a good broadcaster but he was as unbiased and honest as today's politicians. If the Cubs or Sox were having a bad season or getting blown out he'd still try to tell you that everything is fine. That's insulting to a fan in my opinion. That's thinking they are idiots. Now feel free to go back to telling us how the Sox were going to have a good season or after winning a few games how this was going to be the start of a turnaround. ?? I repeat this edition of the Sox as well as basically since 2007 are nothing but clowns and buffoons and that extends into ownership and the front office on the baseball side.
  8. Fix it Brujan went to an uncovered bag at third base on Nick Fortes’ sacrifice bunt in the ninth. Catcher Korey Lee should have been there to cover but was late. Grifol said he and his staff continue to address fundamentals daily. “We have to minimize those fundamental and mental mistakes,” he said. “Especially hitting the cutoff guy, all that little stuff. I am. Again, 162 games, you are going to see things over and over again to a point that you can raise a question ‘are they even talking about anything here? Are they even trying to fix anything?’ Well, yeah, we are. And we don’t let things, we don’t procrastinate with that kind of stuff. We take care of it. Sometimes it takes two or three times to take care of it. Sometimes it takes one. Sometimes you won’t see it for a couple of weeks and then you’ll see it again. That’s just the game.” ? In the Sox case you see it over and over and over and over. These players are simply baseball stupid and Grifol and his band of idiot coaches can't seem to teach properly.
  9. Of the 17 games the Sox have now lost when leading in the 7th inning or later Kopech is directly responsible for four of those games: April 17 Kansas City 8th inning (Game #1) May 24 Baltimore 8th inning June 10 @Seattle 8th inning July 7 @Miami 9th inning He's clearly got to go.
  10. Here we go again. For the 17th time the Sox had a lead going into the 7th inning or later...and lost. All you can do is laugh at these buffoons.
  11. The path to .500 in 2025? New ownership. That's the only way.
  12. he did get Ozzie into coaching and he was a fine manager in my opinion.
  13. The only game at all this year where they came from behind to win when trailing in the 7th inning or later happened on April 27 against Tampa Bay. They trailed going into the last of the 10th inning but won 8-7. One single solitary game. Wow.
  14. For the 16th time this season the Sox took a lead into the 7th inning or later...and lost. 16...and we aren't even at the All-Star break yet. Wow!
  15. Yea his right arm is incapable of signing but he now does it with his left hand. (That's how I got mine) He works out regularly and is taking his medication. Both he and Susie (his wife) are doing well. Sold the beach house in N.J. and now live full time in Sarasota. Wonderful guy to speak with, has terrific stories about his days with the Sox especially the 1990 season, catching Koufax and Ryan, Willie Mays, his days with the Dodgers and the time Koufax and Clemente went nose to nose before a game at Dodger Stadium.
  16. Just FYI, Jeff is alive and well. Speak with him every few months. I can tell you this, he is baseball sharper right now at his age than Grifol is, that's for sure.
  17. The bolded IS my position categorically because THERE IS NO OTHER VIABLE WAY OUT. Again JR isn't changing his operating philosophy. No top shelf free agents No long term deals for pitchers No negotiating with certain agents Fiscal responsibility when it comes to team payroll Do you want me to go on????????????????????? The first rebuild failed because guys constantly were injured AND this is often overlooked JR REFUSED to finish the deal. They had little depth, did not get the franchise changing player (Machado/Harper) and over ruled his front office to bring in TLR. He thinks his way is the right way, history shows it isn't but that simply doesn't register with him. So what can you do? 1. Outlive current ownership 2. Break out those VHS tapes and DVD of Sox games/highlights from better seasons 3. Do EXACTLY what they are doing now, trading anybody worth a damn for prospects and "hope" they can develop and turn the franchise around. That's all I've got.
  18. Complete agree. Which is why the only solution to this dilemma is new ownership completely gutting the baseball side of the franchise and replacing them with qualified individuals from winning organizations. That's the ONLY way out since JR isn't changing his ways.
  19. Because he'll be 33 when his deal is up and the Sox aren't going anywhere in the next few years.
  20. They say misery loves company. At least from my perspective the Cubs being in last place brings a smile to my face when I check the standings.

  22. Asking another team to take on that amount of money, at least 50 million, for a terrible player is a longshot in my opinion. Even if the Sox are willing to take a bad contract back in return, of what benefit is that to the team getting him? It's a push which changes nothing. The Sox would have to agree to pay a sizable chunk of his salary. Me thinks they are stuck with him for another two years then they DFA his ass.
