Things will change significantly the day new ownership arrives. Whether that is for good or bad remains to be seen. But change is desperately needed and at some point it has to come.

I'm sorry, I'm still not following I don't remember any player named Turner. Also I'm not arguing the point, just trying to know who Turner is, because I can't recall anyone of that name on the Sox at least since Jerry Turner in the 1981 season.

When new ownership arrives and builds a competent front office and that also spends money on development and acquiring top-level free agent talent. Until then the only "hope" may be...notice I said maybe, getting as much young talent as possible and hope (there's that word again) it can develop under the current dysfunctional organization. Seriously what else can be done given the restrictions JR has implemented???????????????????????? If there is another avenue I wish someone would explain it to me.

I guess that depends on your definition of "viable". This year, I'd probably agree dumpster guys would work. But they never had options worth a tinkers cuss (ya like that phrase?) when they were supposedly "contending." And there lies one of the the problems from the last several years and the urgency to rush injured guys back.

Possible although that doesn't explain the medical issues rushing back people over the last several years. The Robert situation for example was two years ago to cite one example.

It's a series of games (as in more than one), where multiple teams participate to determine an eventual champion.

At the rate the Cubs are going they'll be selling guys off just like the Sox in three weeks.

The reason the Sox have rushed back so many hurt guys, not 100% in my opinion over the last few seasons is because they have very little to zero quality depth anyplace especially in the minor league system and they panic because they have no options. Good teams and organizations like the Braves, Yankees, Cardinals, Dodgers to name a few get some guys hurt and instead of blowing up a season they plug in other guys from the big league roster or the minors and carry-on. Not the White Sox. They are forced to have a one-legged Iloy or a Robert trying to swing one-handed. Like I said lunacy. ?

Yes instead of 24-61 the team would be 29-56. Big deal! ?

But at least they will be in the playoffs...where anything can happen.

They MAY have some pieces on the pitching side. Time will tell. What they DON'T HAVE is quality players on offense up and down the lineup and a Major League defense. If you think they can solve all that in a single off season especially given JR's "fiscal responsibility" I've got a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn. Sell off a half dozen guys in three weeks and keep accumulating talent, then "hope" it actually comes together. Or "hope" for new ownersahip. Take your choice.

Lunacy ? White Sox designated hitter Eloy Jimenez has been noticeably laboring running the bases lately. After Jimenez knocked a pinch-hit single to left field in the eighth inning of the Sox’ 11-3 win over the Rockies on Saturday, manager Pedro Grifol sent outfielder Corey Julks to pinch-run. The Sox need Jimenez’s bat, but he doesn’t look right on the base paths as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury. “We measure all this stuff every day, and he gets up between 75 and 83%,” Grifol said. “The thing we are looking at is making sure that instead of doing that in short spurts, we measure it out by feet, too.” Jimenez’s lack of mobility also showed in the Sox’ 5-3 win Friday. Jimenez scored from third after catcher Korey Lee grounded out, but if Rockies first baseman Michael Toglia had elected to throw home, there was a good chance Jimenez would have been thrown out. If Jimenez is compromised, why is he active? “Because in past history, even when he’s come back, it’s taken him 10 to 12 days, 10 to 14 days, to really get into sync with everything,” Grifol said. “Not just at the plate, but running around, the workload and all that stuff.” Getting Jimenez up to speed is the Sox’ priority, and they want him to work through his struggles — both physically and at the plate — in the majors. “You can go down there and try to get a rehab assignment, but it’s never the same as getting it here in the big leagues,” Grifol said. “The most important thing is, if he feels good at the plate and he’s swinging the bat, he can really help us.” ?

Fair enough. I saw Gossage pitch many times and I think his control was better myself but agree completely on the mental aspect. And Goose himself told me that he thought Terry Forster had a better arm than him.

Kopech has neither Gossage's talent nor more importantly his mind set to be an elite pitcher.

Nothing has changed from TLR it seems and the entire procedure the Sox use to challenge is flawed. This year remember Grifol said he wasn't able to challenge because the umpires said he ran out of time. "There was a Sunday game, I don’t remember if it was the past year or the season before. The Sox were playing the Tigers I think and they lost a close game. There were two calls in the game that went against the Sox but the TV replay cleared showed both umpire calls were wrong. The Sox never challenged either of them. In the press conference Tony was asked about them and he defended his video crew, it was brought up to him that TV showed both calls were wrong from the umpires. The next day he said that he should have challenged at least one call. That told me this was not a tight operation.”

Yep...that's the White Sox way.

The bolded part stood out to me. Nice backhanded comment on the state of the White Sox.

Sox Machine had the game recap and they wrote that Iloy isn't moving/running well at all on the bases.
