Sox have yet to win a single solitary game this season against Minnesota or Detroit ?

JR says: "Eat three years of his salary?" ?????
-
From Merkin's newsletter: Oscar Colás has not started since getting three hits in Seattle on June 13. He had just two at-bats on June 16 in Arizona. So, the 25-year-old outfielder needs other outlets to remain sharp. “You've got to stay on top of your game, you've got to get in the cage, you've got to do high velocity,” Grifol said. “He'll get another opportunity of course. But right now, we have Tommy Pham, we have [Luis] Robert that's playing every day now. We have Beni [Andrew Benintendi], we have [Corey] Julks. When they throw a lefty, it's Julks. “Every adversity, every opportunity to learn is extremely important for a player like him. Just stay ready until you get that opportunity and be ready to go. That's all I can tell him. We had a conversation about it [Wednesday]. He works extremely hard. He's doing everything he can to stay sharp.” Staying in the Majors is beneficial presently for Colás. But with Eloy Jiménez returning next homestand from the injured list, that plan could change. “He can't do this long-term,” Grifol said. “If an opportunity doesn't present itself in the near future, then obviously it's more beneficial for him to go get at-bats. But in a short spurt, a week to 10 days, it doesn't hurt. It could help.”

They have been a big part of it to be sure...but...this season was going to be a disaster anyway even if they did a decent job.

Sox select Chuckie Robinson, DFA Ellis and then claimed by Mets
Lip Man 1 replied to Quin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Man that's a lot of money on mostly retreads, injury-prone players, has been's and stiffs. Yet that doesn't seem to bother JR as much as having to spend 27 million a year on a guy like Bryce Harper. -
He also is on the big league roster from what I read.

He had a deadline in his contract that he had to be added to the 40-man by a certain day or he could leave. And with Stassi done for the year (talk about more wasted money) Sox needed some catching insurance. -
Yankees signed Hill today (Thursday)

That's because JR's "philosophy" has given the fan base no other option. Is he going to spend whatever it takes to win...no Is he going to invest in international players other than Cuba...no Is he going to go after game changing, superstar free agents...no Is he going to change his attitude towards certain agents and their contract demands...no The only possible way this franchise "may" win under current ownership is to assemble as many 'supposed' good prospects as possible and hope they pan out. Hope is usually not a winning strategy but literally what else can Sox fans hang their hats on under the circumstances? So the team keeps Robert and Crochet. OK...then what? Will keeping those two move the needle towards respectability to say nothing like contention? Again...NO. I'd love to keep them but this organization needs so much and without a change in ownership those two aren't going to be around anyway if the kids do come through because JR will not extend them ESPECIALLY if they do play very well. The fan base much like the organization is between a rock and a hard place.

6/20 - Houston Cloud Column vs. Chicago Bean 1:10 pm

Only one time this season April 27 vs. Tampa Bay did the Sox trail in the 7th inning or later and win. They beat the Rays 8-7 in 10 innings coming from behind in the 10th to do it. -

Grifol to DVS of the Sun-Times today: UnColas Squeezed out of playing time by the return from the IL of Benintendi, Oscar Colas hasn’t started in a week and could be ticketed for a return to Charlotte when designated hitter Eloy Jimenez (hamstring strain) is expected to return from the injured list next week. Colas is 9-for-25 with two walks in his last nine games. His approach has been better disciplined, but he has no extra-base hits. “He works extremely hard, he’s doing everything he can to stay sharp,” Grifol said. “He can’t do this long-term. If an opportunity doesn’t present itself in the near future, then obviously it’s more beneficial for him to go get at-bats.” -
Sox starting pitchers own a 3.01 ERA over the last 13 games. Their relievers are 2-10 with 6.95 ERA over the last 24. ?

And there you go, 15 times the Sox lost a game when taking a lead into the 7th inning or later. -

It will mark the 15th time the Sox took a lead into the 7th inning or later...and lost. It will be the second time Wilson is directly responsible. -
CANNON FIRE! And that is a White Sox winner!

Well that puts a different spin on it to be sure. -

And they gave "this" guy a big contract? Way to do your homework guys. This is as bad as Boone Logan admitting to the media he had a nervous breakdown on the mound in Tampa. -
Not many great players, hall of famers left from the 60's & 70's now. Koufax, Palmer, John, Kaat, Jenkins, Williams, Rose, Yaz come to mind.

Great player. Loved the game.

Pretty amazing, they get only two hits...but win. -
Correct. They are something like 23 to 30 games under .500 now under his watch.

After the Sox won in 1983, JR was quoted after that, sometime in 1984 as I recall, saying along the lines of, 'I didn't know winning would cost so much...' (Because players wanted raises et al)
