  1. You are correct it is irrelevant. Just like this entire season so it is not even worth the trouble is it? ?
  2. There is absolutely no way the Sox keep him after the season, just can not see it happening.
  3. I can't tell you if the Sox insisted on Iloy or what. But I was told that after the fact and when his injuries started happening on a regular basis Hahn found out the Cubs were basically laughing at him for taking him in the first place and he got royally pissed when he heard about the dissing by them around other baseball people. Maybe they knew something the Sox didn't pick up on?
  4. If an appeal was somehow granted the entire game wouldn't be replayed, it would resume at the spot of the incorrect call. And it wouldn't matter, the Sox would lose the game anyway.
  5. Only in the World of the White Sox. And this just continues a decades-long string of bizarre, unusual and mind-numbing plays/situations that have happened when playing the Orioles.
  6. In DVS's Sun-Times story last night Grifol said he is going to keep playing him but in a month or two (direct quote) he may have to reevaluate.
  7. I think there's some truth to your comment. Human nature being what it is and given the Sox atrocious record they aren't going to get the benefit of the doubt.

  10. “You look at the numbers, I’m the one of unluckiest hitters in the league right now. --Andrew Benintendi. And in DVS's story Grifol says he's going to keep playing him regardless.
  11. They won't eat his salary and pay him for doing nothing, JR doesn't like that. But come shortly after the season ends "he gone!"
  12. “I’ve been in the game long enough to know this doesn’t last forever.” https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2024/05/23/pedro-grifol-embraces-adversity-every-moment-on-job-confident-it-will-make-him-white-sox-better ?
  13. Well I guess turnabout is fair play. Remember this: August 24, 2008 – One thing White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski had going for him was his brain. A.J. was always thinking, always trying to get into the heads of the opposition and always willing to try something to gain an advantage. On this day his quick thinking directly led to the Sox winning a game, in the middle of a pennant race, that perhaps they shouldn’t have. The Sox were tied with Tampa Bay 5-5 in extra innings when A.J. led off with a single. He was on second when Jermaine Dye hit a ground ball to the Rays Jason Bartlett. Pierzynski broke on contact and was caught in a run down. However obstruction would wind up being called on third baseman Willy Aybar by umpire Doug Eddings when A.J. stuck his arm out and made contact with Aybar after he had already made a throw. The ruling was that even though Pierzynski initiated the contact it was the responsibility of Aybar to get out of the way. A.J. was awarded third base and eventually scored the winning run on a single by Alexei Ramirez.
  14. Well that's six losses in the last seven games. Bad call or not, the Sox weren't winning the game anyway. I don't know if I can blame Vaughn for stupid base running...oh what the hell maybe I should anyway, it is so White Sox! ?

  16. Unfortunately JR will order Getz to spend said money on stiffs, has-been's, injury-prone guys and deadbeats.
  17. No he won't. Grifol said he pitches against the Jays again next week. Like I said earlier in the week, they are already 1-5 in this stretch...they may win another game or two in the next 10 days...maybe.
  18. He was missing in the upper half of the strike zone and had to resort to throwing things down in it. The Jays were sitting on them because he wasn't able to spot his pitches and was basically throwing to half a strike zone.
  19. Is this another "flush" game? LOL. Where is the photo of Grifol with the caption "We got our asses kicked..."

  21. When the controversy erupted with him I reached out to a long time source who was heavily involved in broadcasting operations at the Major League level. They told me they got a number of calls from more highly qualified individuals who were asking for advice regarding the Sox opening. What they were looking for...how they should approach Brooks et al. This person told me out of the people who reached out, comparing their track record to the guy Brooks hired, it was like night and day. Brooks apparently hired an individual who really didn't have much of a track record or "feel" for baseball. Who can explain things like this?

  23. It's like Ozzie said on a postgame show earlier this season, these guys work out in the off season to look good not to be baseball ready.
  24. Given the political climate and the lack of any news about a Sox stadium I highly doubt this will ever get off the ground for them. Pritzker is dead set against giving state funds (and rightfully so in my opinion) so if JR wants a new stadium he and his other investors are going to have to come up with the money themselves. It was done by the owners of the S.F. Giants and Dolphins, there's no reason the Sox can't do that too. Besides there is nothing wrong with GRF that a winning team and a competent front office would solve.
