Schriffen says he was aiming at “Sportscasters”
Lip Man 1 replied to Chick Mercedes's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You are what your record says you are and this team/organization maybe the worst in baseball. You don't like teams dissing you, laughing at you? Do something about it besides rolling over and dying. -
Back to the same old Dead Sox. 6th time this year the Sox took a lead into the 7th inning or later...and lost the game.

Remember if you finish second, third or fourth doesn't mean you had a bad year. ? -

“People think, go in there and flip a table or something like that, what are you going to flip a table for? For effort? They’re giving us everything they’ve got. It’s just not happening for us right now.”-- Pedro Grifol. Kenny Williams says "hello Pedro!"

Just like Yankees/Sox July 1, 1990.

Tonight is more along the lines of what we've seen out of the team this year as opposed to the previous three days. There will be a lot more of this over the next five months.

I've broadcast volleyball, men's and women's basketball, football and softball (never had the chance to do baseball0 and there is a lot of truth in the above post. Different sports have different cycles and rhythms and a play by play broadcaster can only do so much. A good color analyst is worth their weight in gold.

Guess Trade Values of Sox Starters
Lip Man 1 replied to JUSTgottaBELIEVE's topic in Trade Winds 2024
This team isn't competing for anything for the next several years. That changes of course if new ownership comes into play and immediately becomes aggressive in talent acquisition. -
Once the new guy has a chance to know and understand the history of this franchise and the passion the fans have he won't be calling anybody out given the incompetence, dysfunction and ineptness from ownership to the front office.
-
All I wish for is to outlive current ownership.

Getz: Record “frustrating” but rebuilding takes time
Lip Man 1 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Thome hit 134 home runs in three and a half years with the Sox, that was no accident. -
Teams very, very rarely make deals this early in the season.

Fedde may bring back some nice pieces at the deadline.

Getz: Record “frustrating” but rebuilding takes time

Seaver, Thome, Hough all produced. Even Canseco in 2001 had a decent year for them. -
Break up the Sox, they've won two in a row. ?

Getz: Record “frustrating” but rebuilding takes time

The Athletic has a few stories this week absolutely destroying the Sox organization. Here is how one of those stories ended: "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Unless you’re the Chicago White Sox. Then it’s business as usual." -
Both are public benefits as long as the public doesn't have to pay to get them built. Let the billionaire owners take care of that.

Yep but to actually go out and sign a top difference maker? Nope...can't do that, it offends JR's sensibilities.

I know of two "official" instances where he has publicly commented on succession. The others come from what my sources have told me over the years and for the State of the Sox story I did in November 2022. The other was that newspaper story but I can't remember the details, it was just published a few years ago, don't even remember if it was the Sun-Times or the Tribune. I think the "motivation" is basic as I was told. He feels the White Sox don't make money and the Bulls do because the NBA has a salary cap. I have no idea if that's true or not, I've only been told by individuals who know members of the board that the Sox haven't lost money in a long time. As I wrote maybe JR feels the Sox don't make enough money to suit his expectations. No way to know for sure since they won't open their books to an independent economist to evaluate.

Bears met with the Sun-Times editorial board and according to the story there were times when things got testy: https://chicago.suntimes.com/city-hall/2024/04/25/bears-new-stadium-lakefront-bonds-springfield-president-warren-lease-sox
