  1. Actually I've said that the odds were remote due to JR's own comments as well as the tax hit. Before either of us says, "I told you so" let's wait and see how this shakes out shall we? As I posted this smells totally like a ploy by JR. We'll find out soon enough.
  2. Or as stated he's using this as a ploy to try to extort state funds. I suspect he knows his stadium idea is D.O.A. with the politicians. Anyway more musings from yours truly: Don't be fooled. This is a ploy by JR to try to extort more financial money from the state/public for his stadium idea. First off, a story in Sports Illustrated wrote that Stewart and his people want the Nashville franchise and that TLR is part of it. Stewart has had discussions with Manfred about it and that MLB likes the idea of minority ownership. Plus MLB could get A LOT more money from an expansion team then relocating the Sox. JR knows his idea to get state money is doomed as long as Pritzker is governor. Second Stewart's group may be a fraud in and of itself. Third as I wrote in August 2020, the tax hit if JR sells while he is alive: https://www.southsidesox.com/2022/8/29/23325369/jerry-reinsdorf-selling-chicago-white-sox-not-on-his-life Hey the sooner he's gone the better in my opinion but this 'report" doesn't make a lot of sense.
  3. That's true, Stewart wants the Nashville franchise. According to Sports Illustrated he's working with TLR on it. I hope JR does want to sell, the sooner he's gone the better but this smells fishy to me especially regarding Stewart.
  4. Danny Wirtz talks about the broadcast situation: https://chicago.suntimes.com/blackhawks/2024/10/15/blackhawks-danny-wirtz-chsn-comcast-negotiations-revenue-chairman
  5. Politicians have said numerous times nothing is going to happen in the fall and they are waiting for more information and details especially from JR.
  6. I believe I saw a headline last week something to the effect that baseball has seen attendance rise for the past few years in a row now coming off the pandemic. How that compares to all-time records I don't know.
  7. Maybe this will change things? https://chicago.suntimes.com/columnists/2024/10/11/sneed-chicago-white-sox-losing-streak-record-1919-world-series-scandal-bartman-ball
  8. So would I but... What proven experienced manager would take this clusterf@#$? And JR won't pay for premium managerial talent. You'll get Sizemore and like it! 😆
  9. That's assuming either one of them get a stadium built. I'm not putting money on that happening especially for the White Sox unless JR changes his tune and plunks down a LOT of his own money.
  10. I remember Rogers' agent had reached out to the White Sox and Kenny Williams said the asking price of one million dollars was to much. 😆
  11. Multiple stories today say the Pohland family is putting the Twins up for sale.

  13. As always anything is possible but every comment I've seen published from politicians say categorically it's going to be a difficult sell ESPECIALLY if JR refuses to spend any of his own money.
  14. March 19, 1979 - Sox shortstop prospect Harry Chappas appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated with the caption, “The Littlest Rookie. Shortstop Harry Chappas.” Chappas was all of five feet, three inches tall. His career was as brief as his height. In three years, he appeared in 72 games with 184 at bats, one home run, two stolen bases and 15 walks. Part of the reason for his struggles, from those who knew him, was because of his reluctance to take advice from coaches and teammates. His only career home run came off the Brewers Bill Travers.
  15. She'll grow out of that soon enough assuming the organization continues to be incompetent, dysfunctional and inept.
  16. Remember they had Burger taking round balls at second base before games.
  17. Except JR would never allow you to do that so the point is moot, or maybe it's a moo point, the point of view of a cow as Joey said on friends.
  18. You are correct about the A's, they were united in their hatred of Charlie Finley the owner but also at times didn't get along with each other. One example was when they had a fistfight in the locker room before a game with the Tigers in the 1972 championship series.
  19. There has been massive mis-communication with this going back to when Ventura was manager and of course some probably remember this incident from TLR's tenure: “There was a Sunday game, I don’t remember if it was the past year or the season before. The Sox were playing the Tigers I think and they lost a close game. There were two calls in the game that went against the Sox but the TV replay cleared showed both umpire calls were wrong. The Sox never challenged either of them. In the press conference Tony was asked about them and he defended his video crew, it was brought up to him that TV showed both calls were wrong from the umpires. The next day he said that he should have challenged at least one call. That told me this was not a tight operation.”

  21. The Associated Press came out with the results today and as you might expect the Sox were right near the bottom: Oakland (43.1%), St. Louis (43.6%), Washington (43.8%) Cincinnati (46%), the Los Angeles Angels (46.3%) and the Chicago White Sox (46.2%) were the least successful.

  23. Especially since he told DVS of the Sun-Times in a story that he doesn't intend to change his training routine.
