  1. Picked up a book for my Sox library titled "Sox" by the late Bob Vanderberg who was one of the associate sports editors at the Tribune. He also wrote some great books on the 1959 team and the Sox battles with the Yankees in the 1950's and 1960's. He was a huge Sox fan. For this book which originally came out in 1982 he scored an interview with JR and I was struck by his comments. My how times have changed: "What you have to do is develop a team that contends every year. I want to contend every year. I don't want to have ups and downs." "We're going to be significant increasing our investments in the farm system. In the long run my feeling is that to be a contender every year you have to develop you own players. You can't do it in the free agent market and you can't do it through trades. You can try to fill a gap that way. But a winning team takes 25 guys and most of them you have to develop. So were gonna be spending our money on the farm system."
  2. The fact that the Sox did this for Flexen will get around the other MLB clubhouses. That can pay dividends down the line.
  3. Ball is in the Sox court now: https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2024/09/26/garrett-crochet-says-hes-open-to-extension-with-white-sox
  4. 1.36 million...so how much money does the state owe JR as part of his sweetheart lease deal?
  5. Anything is possible but he has been adamant he's not selling while he is alive in part because of the massive capital gains tax hit (estimated to be around 200 million) then he'll have to pay the Illinois state tax hit which will be more millions of dollars.
  6. You'll get Grady Sizemore and like it! 😆
  7. In addition to the 'bad ownership' story this came out today from Moneyball author Michael Lewis: https://awfulannouncing.com/mlb/moneyball-michael-lewis-analytics-boring-baseball-athletics.html
  8. Sox Machine breaks down the Olney/Rogers story: https://soxmachine.com/2024/09/the-white-soxs-root-problems-are-still-being-unearthed/
  9. From DVS story today in the Sun-Times: To that end, Robert, who missed two months with the second strained hip flexor of his career, said his offseason routine largely will be the same.
  10. Very true and on point.
  11. He better hope he stays in good health, it may be a long time before this franchise is even mediocre.
  12. Win and treat the fan base with respect and not act like they are dumb idiots.

  14. ‘‘We haven’t determined the level of free agency that we’ll be working in, I can assure you that it won’t be the top of the market. We’re clearly in a rebuild, when you’ve got this many losses, one thing it does provide is clarity and direction on where you do need to go as an organization.’’ --Chris Getz to DVS of the Sun-Times. To me what's interesting in this quote is Getz is finally saying the word 'rebuild' that both he and JR refused to say earlier.
  15. The Sox trailed going into the bottom of the 10th inning 7-6, they won the game on Benintendi's two-run home run in the last of the 10th. That's a comeback win isn't it?
  16. It'll happen tomorrow night, a record that will stand for the ages. That's the White Sox way! 😆
  17. Second comeback...on April 27 they scored two runs in the last of the 10th inning to win 8-7 over Tampa Bay.
  18. NBC Sports Chicago is reporting the same thing Sizemore is still in the mix according to Getz saying "he deserves consideration..." Here we go fans.

  20. Paul Sullivan got this comment from the Sox on the 'unusual' social media posts: “As we planned for this unfortunate milestone, we were looking to come up with creative ways to acknowledge the reality of the situation, engage with our fans and with a wink, maybe disarm the negativity just a little bit."
