  4. The Sox had never made the playoffs in consecutive seasons before 2020 and 2021. 2020 of course was only a 60 game season as you recall. As far as attendance remember in 2021 it was limited because the COVID situation was still on-going. And you'd have to spend far more money then is conceivable to drive a MLB franchise into debt. They are basically printing money by the boatload.
  5. There may be some truth to what you say, I can't disagree with that. The Cubs situation is very unique and runs counter to most of what makes sports, sports...it's about winning. That's because John McDonough (who grew up a Sox fan by the way) had the brilliant idea first started by William Wrigley to "promote" Wrigley Field instead of the team. "Have a great time in the sun regardless if the team is good or not..." Couple that with the timing of Superstation WGN which promoted the same idea nationally and the Cubs wound up literally getting 40% of their attendance for the year from outside Chicago and the Chicago area. Sox fans are more discrete when it comes to what is important to them by and large. That is winning first, second and third on the priority list. So the location could help some but long term that factor will play itself out of the team is bad.
  6. When new Comiskey opened in 1991 for the first three years before the labor impasse they drew extremely well but then as the column stated the "newness factor" wore off. Without putting a winning program on the field the exact same thing will happen when or if this new proposed stadium is ever built.

  8. Agreed. The only way the Sox win the division next year is if the other four teams all forfeit.
  9. JR will want those tenants to cover their windows during games so they don't get to watch for free! ?
  10. Is there a link or something to his comments? I'd be interested in reading them.

  13. Correct. He was trying to boost a new ownership group led by TLR and Dave Stewart.

  17. The garbage dump or the junk yard would be my guess.

  19. I know of a Lori Mendenhall but not Lori Lee...and I have not been told who the other inductees are.
  20. I appreciate the thought and frankly I could do the job. But I'm 68 and my wife and I just paid off our house. I'm actually going to be inducted into the Idaho State Sports Hall of Fame this February. I have established roots here in Southeast Idaho but it simply is a non-starter right now. Maybe 20 years ago I'd certainly think about applying but not now.
  21. Well researched story on ballparks: https://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/2813438
