Steve Stone / Yoan Moncada's "Lack of Effort and Interest"
Jose Abreu replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Fegan does that a lot. He's a terrific writer but he often inserts his opinion into his work and presents it as a fact. In 2019, he often suggested that Moncada was a poor defensive 3B and wrote it as if everybody would agree, which I didn't understand given that both the eye test and all the advanced stats confirmed that Moncada was really good over at 3B, and of course now he's GG caliber. -

I need to reread ptatc's posts but I'm not sure if him not getting surgery is good or bad -

That's when we get an update, but they're saying it's still a 12-16 week timetable for his return to baseball activities -

No surgery -
And as true as all of that may be, Eloy is still a 24 year old coming off a Silver Slugger with even more untapped potential and an arguably higher floor, too

Addressing the OF shortage (Robert Injury Spinoff)

Had a nice series at the plate too -
Not to mention the whole reason he took the job is because he "saw some problems" with the way the game is played and wanted to put "his own spin" on things. So he's not gonna just magically start managing in a way that contradicts his entire identity
-
I also didn't get why they had Kopech intentionally walk a batter (Naquin?) in the 9th inning when his control was already pretty shaky and he was getting squeezed. It's not like it was Winker or a huge threat

I think the only way the trade happens is if they're confident he can be an everyday CF -

I'm not too worried about the sprint speed as even that is a bit flukey in a small sample, although I do agree that it's something to monitor, and weird given the lack of (known) leg injuries. As for the offense, he's trying out a new swing this year and is probably still in that adjustment period with it. Personally, I prefer the old version of him (40 bombs + respectable OBPs) to this new version with less power and more walks, but obviously it's early and I'm sure things will change. He's also hitting a bit better as of late. The concerns are valid but he's the kind of guy I'd feel confident rolling the dice on. When he gets hot, he carries the whole team -

The price is what I struggled with most. Texas would probably agree to Crochet straight up but I doubt the Sox would. I do think that some combination of Stiever/prep arms/a Rodriguez or Ramos type would get it done, but even that would sting -

Reading all the Gallo talk here inspired me to write out why I think there isn't a more perfect fit out there than him. I already loved the fit before the injuries, but now it's just too good to be true. Here's the link for anyone interested -

100% agreed. And to comment on an earlier topic, Gallo does play a solid CF. The main reason he got moved to RF is because they have some younger players with higher defensive ceilings such as Taveras that they wanted to try -

No, and to be honest, the organization's silence surrounding some of the specifics in that article is making me disinterested in watching the team
-
Just a regurgitation of the Passan report, but nice to see that somebody in Chicago media is willing to run it instead of gaslighting everyone a la Phil Rogers
-
It’s this. And that’s why Passan’s report is far from a surprise
-
Yeah, he said: among a longer detail of his missteps

Almost as if he's the best player on the team and the complaints about him last year/early this year never made any sense
-
Don't worry, when the rebuild ends, that won't be the case anymore
