  1. It was awesome watching him bat twice with the bases loaded, getting 2 strikes on him both times, and still expecting him to do something amazing. And of course, he came through.
  2. If both healthy, Eloy and I don't think it will be very close. I don't see Moncada hitting any more than 25 or so this year while I think Eloy can get hot a few times and rattle off a bunch in a week's time. leaving him in the mid 30s
  3. I mean hey, maybe some models have them finishing 162-0!
  4. A series against the 7-1 Mariners actually could be a good thing in the sense that they're due for some negative regression. I also see Mike Leake lined up for Saturday, and IIRC he pitched against us last April as well and Moncada had like 10 total bases against him
  5. I was researching this for a Moncada article that I'm releasing tomorrow but it is also worth mentioning that of those 7 hits last year, 5 were singles and 2 were doubles. As you noted, he has a double and a home run after 0-2 counts this year. So in just 5 games, he has already matched his 2018 season extra base hit total after 0-2 counts. That's not just luck, IMO.
  6. Statistically, including defense, such a stretch would be almost impossible to replicate. It's hard to emphasize just how bad he has been. Brushing it off as a normal struggle is foolish.
  7. We got your left handed power hitter (technically a switch hitter but whatever)!
  8. With the postponement, he'll now be needed on Tuesday since Lopez would be scheduled to start on 3 days rest
  9. Literally no prospect has a "very good chance" to be a true 5 tool player, and I don't know why Abrams of all people would be that godsend I mean how many true 5 tool players are there in baseball right now? Can't be more than a few, really
  10. Forgive me but I really don't get the Abrams hype
  11. 16th in WAR in all of baseball! Franchise player!
  12. No, it's not "common sense" to use Spring Training stats and a 4 game sample size of someone's approach to claim that he isn't MLB ready. You act as if he's swinging and missing at every pitch. He's making some good contact and just isn't finding holes. He'll be fine
  13. 4 games is not nearly enough time to make these conclusions. I feel ridiculous for even needing to type that.
  14. Last year, the reactionaries/trolls were out in full force about 5 games into the season when Moncada was hitting .154/.267/.308. About 2 weeks later he was at .271/.364/.552. Not surprised to see similar accounts complaining about Eloy, and I won't be surprised a couple weeks from now when they'll be looking foolish
  15. Nick Castellanos and Hyun-Jin Ryu, come on down!
