I love Yolmer's dance after scoring. He's so fun

Luis Avilan traded to Phillies for Felix Paulino
Jose Abreu replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm not against the move, but I am a little surprised that there was apparently such little interest in Avilan. He's a quality lefty reliever, with another full year of control, and guys like that tend to at least be in some demand. -
Yeah, I'm not suggesting that we just cut everyone. But I also believe that there are quite a few guys of little to no value that don't exactly deserve to be penciled into the 40 man. At the same time, the odds of teams actually selecting a lot of the guys we need to protect are slim. We saw this last year with Guerrero going unprotected, to the surprise of many, and not getting taken. There's still enormous risk involved with taking a player in the Rule 5 and actually keeping him on the MLB roster all year. Guys like Zavala, Burr, etc? Sure, I can definitely see teams taking them. Players like Mendick (skill), Guerrero (don't think we'd miss him too much), or Forbes (too raw for MLB), however, I don't see teams taking, and if they do, I don't think it would go very well for those teams.

Would anyone want him at this point?

There have been several, and I still really disagree with this. I'm not worried about needing roster spots for the Adam Engels and Hector Santiagos of the world. There are plenty of spots for the 8-9 players who will need protection.

Race for the worst 2018 record (Top 5 pick) again

I don't know what the plan is with CF next year. Engel is bad, Leury can't stay healthy, and Cordell needs a shot. Also plenty of stopgap FA options. But letting Cordell mash AAA pitching like he has for the last couple weeks at age 26 helps nobody. He should be getting MLB at bats every day while we still have the opportunity to give them to him -
The second worst hitter is leading off and the best hitter is batting 8th. The worst hitter is batting 9th at least, but still some ugly lineup construction

There is really no need for 4 lefties in our pen when we don't have a single reliable righty to go with them. -
I'm sure we'll see Frare soon, too. We already had a surplus of lefties and some pretty bad righties so I can see the logic behind this.

Honestly, I wouldn't. I'd rather roll the dice on 6-7 years of Adolfo/Rutherford etc. becoming Major Leaguers than have that one month of Harper, even if we were a playoff team. If we're talking about an Alex Call/Joel Booker type, then I'd probably do it.

I wouldn't say "really likes", but he does think Gonzalez can be an average regular.

I do think that Harper ends up with the Yankees, Phillies, Dodgers, or Cubs. But honestly, Trout doesn't strike me as a guy who would just take the money and play in Boston/NY.

Technically, saying "if we keep playing like this" in the middle of an 8 or 9 game win streak (if memory serves) *should* have led to a playoff berth!

Oh, I see. Between Chapman, Russell, and this, I'd imagine they should be used to this sort of thing by now. Clearly, off-field conduct and comments are not of any importance to the organization.
