That's the logical move but given that he's "the best shortstop in Chicago and it isn't even close, and also a top 5 shortstop in baseball and if you think otherwise you're an idiot" according to the typical Cubs fan, I would still be surprised. I feel like they could've already replaced him with Baez at SS, Bote at 3B, Happ at 2B, etc.
-
Why do they want another 2B? Are they converting him to 3B and preparing for Bryant to miss the season?

Forecast has been worsening. Earlier this morning, it was at 30-35% for 7-9 PM, now it's at 40-50% -
Personally I think Basabe is the perfect 4th outfielder. Can fill into any spot and with good defense, can hit at any point in the lineup, good on base skills, a little pop, switch hitter, pretty speedy, etc.

Also, will be fun to see Berrios pitch live. I believe he has a complete game against us this year, as well as a 7 shutout inning start, as well as a 6 inning/4 run start. -

I'll be there. Guessing one of the following: A) 2 IP, 6 ER, 6 H, 2 SO, 4 BB B) 6 IP, 3 R, 2 ER, 6 H, 9 SO, 3 BB -
Same. Not sure where Dave got that from but he implied that it was info he was given from someone in the ticket office
-
Don't know if he was just guessing, but White Sox Dave seemed to think there would be a mid 30s attendance tomorrow. Based on the secondhand market and the official site availability, I'd guess about 28-30 if the weather is good enough.

Other than every Opening Day ever, Moncada's debut is the only game in the last 6 or so years I can say that about. Maybe even TA's debut in 2016.
-
Cordell has been good lately. He deserves it over LaMarre, IMO

At the very worst, Anderson is either an average or slightly above average starting shortstop, a good bench player, or a trade asset due to his team-friendly contract. He is in no way a burden to our plans. Perhaps he's the Starlin Castro of our rebuild, where he's a fine player but ends up getting traded due to us finding a better shortstop somehow
-
They were fun to watch at the end of last year too, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it again. Of course, I was duped by their August/September of 2017. Giolito looked decent, Moncada was really good in September, and we were winning. I didn't think we'd make the playoffs this year (though I thought there was an outside shot with a healthy Rodon, Kopech in May, Eloy in June, Hamilton/relievers promoted, etc) but I also thought we'd be a lot closer to the 75 or so win mark by the end of the year than whatever we're on pace for.
-
I agree. We can also convert one to 1B (probably one of Eloy/Adolfo) if we have to, leaving room for Robert in center, Basabe at a corner, and Gonzalez/Rutherford/somebody at the other
-
I honestly don't think JR will still be around by the time Kopech is a free agent. And with the way that Hahn has approached the free agency questions lately, I'd be pretty disappointed if we weren't at least in the mix for Machado/Arenado etc. in the coming offseasons.
-
I've said this before, but between Jimenez, Robert, Adolfo, Gonzalez, Basabe, Rutherford, Walker, and Call, I feel really good about us producing 3 internal MLB outfielders. We should have a lot of money to spend on the infield and the rotation, since the bullpen prospects are similarly stacked.
-
Not the case if we offer them the most money. Therefore, it is about Jerry saving money.
