I wouldn't even say it's obvious that Covey makes another start for us this season, let alone begin 2019 in the rotation.
-
Ah, I miss the days when Rick Hahn was a big idiot for not signing Tyler Chatwood and Lucas Duda
-
I'd be willing to bet that this happened. I'm sure the entire 25 man roster was placed on waivers. There's literally no harm in doing so.
-
What makes you say that? If anything, he seems like a guy whose ISO will be way below the league average to me. Lots of singles with some doubles, few triples, next to no homers
-
The difference is OBP. I like OPS but it overweights SLG% and underweights OBP. So the difference between a .310 and .345 OBP is what does it for me.
-
He doesn't need to hit for power but he does need to walk in order to offset that. His approach and stats both suggest that he has minimal interest in walking. A .300/.310/.360 hitter is not good, but a .300/.345/.360 hitter is.

Can't tell if sarcasm but it's actually a good idea. -

Not used to seeing Nicky chase so many pitches out of the zone -

I was going off the post above that claimed he got screwed. Just went back and watched and if anything I'd say that was just a really good pitch. Even if he swung I don't think he was hitting that, but I do agree that he should have tried on that one. -

A ball is a ball. I hate this logic. Him having a good eye is a strength, not a weakness. -

Whether you think he should be moved to the pen or not, I hope we can agree that Covey should not start another game for us this season. Plenty of guys in AAA who should get a shot. Any of Kopech/Stephens/Adams/Guerrero. -
He is 100% wearing 74, and they will let him.
-
He strikes me as a guy who's gonna come up and immediately be a stud defensively. He has the range of Adam Engel, but an actual decent arm to go with it.
-
Last year, Cease was almost laughably unlucky when he pitched. His defense betrayed him pretty much every start, multiple times. He was getting Quintana'd left and right. The difference between his ERA and RA was massive because of all the errors. In addition, his biggest "problem" heading into this season was not pitching deep enough into games, but can you blame him when he had to throw an extra 20-30 pitches every night due to errors?
-
Not to mention the majority of his home games were played in a major pitcher's park in Birmingham. Only now is that starting to be offset with his playing in Charlotte

Really don't think Kodi Medeiros is a starter. I wonder when we'll convert him into a LOOGY. 4.2 IP 7 ER tonight

I’m one of his biggest supporters on here so if that was sarcasm, I don’t get it -

The reverse jinx worked! As soon as he got to two strikes I’m sure a few posters had some bust posts typed out though -

Bauer is looking really sharp, that curve is unhittable. But when he strikes Yoan out, it’s because Yoan’s a bust. The rest of the lineup gets a pass, of course -
Hansen pulled after 2 innings, 0 runs, 1 strikeout, and only 2 walks!

Swing reminds me of Daniel Palka for some reason. Maybe Collins is Palka with plate discipline. I'd take that from a catcher for sure.
