Bangkok red light "mission trip" saved Sox from LaRoche
Jose Abreu replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 13, 2016 -> 01:35 PM) He's definitely the worst signing by the Sox since Navarro. 7 games into the season and you're already trashing Dioner Navarro? -

To give a non-sarcastic response, it's not that we dislike him for his lack of performance last year, it's that we dislike him for dragging this whole situation out, making a big deal about it, promoting anti-Sox articles, and basically just trying to make the organization look bad. -
QUOTE (Tony @ Apr 13, 2016 -> 01:06 PM) Ladd is a game time decision, with his wife in Chicago who is giving birth. great f***ing timing ladd (double meaning)

By the way, I'm pretty sure re-tweeting hundreds of pro-LaRoche/anti-White Sox tweets is "making a stink about this" (his meat company's Twitter) -
Bangkok red light "mission trip" saved Sox from LaRoche

QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Apr 13, 2016 -> 01:00 PM) Some very anti-LaRoche people here. What did he do wrong? He made a personal decision that he's made enough money doing his job and wanted to retire if it wasn't going the way he planned. Don't get why it's any skin off our nose. He prepared, worked hard and did what was asked of him. Seems like an overall great guy who cares about the integrity of a person. World would probably be better with more people like him. So what he didn't hit a little white ball very well for us. He's not making any stink about this. Guarantee if this was 1990 when this happened there would be one newspaper article about it in the Sun-Times and Trib and be done. Media driven right now. I think you're misinterpreting the reason for our anger towards him... -
Trever Bauer crashed drone into new scoreboard
Jose Abreu replied to InTheDriversSeat's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2016 -> 12:55 PM) *Cut to scene. The White Sox have proudly turned on their new and beautiful scoreboard. Everyone marvels at it. Except one person. Trevor Bauer powers up his drone. "I'll show the White Sox to know better than to use a picture of my bad side on their scoreboard!" Bauer's drone takes off, and flies quickly towards the scoreboard. At the last minute, Adam LaRoche appears out of no where flying it his cape, White Sox uniform, and a baseball bat. "Where ever evils are to be committed, I shall be there to stop them. FAMILY FIRST!" LaRoche files inbetween the drone and the scoreboard. He winds up and takes a gigantic swing, missing everything. The drone smashed into the scoreboard, creating a large spiderweb of cracks in it. "NOW ON TO BANGKOK!" LaRoche files away. Adam Eaton emerges from the dugout, carrying his newborn child/ "Isn't he dreamy?" Post of the year. -

Thank god this is a night game. I can finally watch a Sox game in its entirety and not have to stay up until 1 AM to do so!!! -
Internal alternatives to Avisail Garcia
Jose Abreu replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Apr 13, 2016 -> 11:32 AM) Even better. Eaton Melky Abreu Frazier CarGo Lawrie Navarro Jackson Anderson and they probably would bring up Fulmer by that point too, so the rotation would be: Sale Q Rodon Latos Fulmer Awesome. I would love to see these ideas come to fruition at some point this season. We wouldn't have one of Fulmer/Anderson though, with COL's asking price -

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Apr 13, 2016 -> 11:19 AM) CarGo is the obvious solution if the team is serious about winning IMO. Just imagine the lineup if he replaced Avi. Eaton Melky Abreu Frazier CarGo Lawrie Navarro Rollins Jackson But wouldn't we have to give Anderson/something good up for him? That's not a risk I'd like to take -

Internal alternatives to Avisail Garcia
Jose Abreu replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Apr 12, 2016 -> 08:49 PM) You're in the wrong thread. Go cry in the Rollins thread or go start an "I don't understand Todd Frazier thread". I don't like Rollins either, but this is the Avi Garcia thread. And Batting average is a useless stat when you haven't played 10 games yet. Frazier has reached base 5 times in the last three games. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 12, 2016 -> 08:59 PM) We're 7 games into the season, using batting average as an argument makes no sense. But even if you're going that route, Frazier's .207 is still better than Melky's .269. Melky has only hit singles so far, Frazier has multiple hits for extra bases. Prime example of why batting average kind of sucks as a stat. Then, AustinIllini, why are you so frustrated when Melky is batting but not frustrated when Frazier/Rollins bats? What stat are you using that makes them better than Melky so far? OmarComing25, the reason I used BA is because I assumed that's what AustinIllini was using, but I guess he wasn't. -

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Apr 12, 2016 -> 06:10 PM) I'm not happy with Avi, but as long as we're winning games, it's hard to be super worried... But it's so frustrating when w get to that part of the order between Avi, Cabrera, and Avila. Right, it's frustrating when we get to Melky and his .269 BA, but it's not frustrating when Rollins (.160) or Frazier (.207) are batting. Makes sense -
Trever Bauer crashed drone into new scoreboard
Jose Abreu replied to InTheDriversSeat's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Ultimate payback would be Chris Sale flying a drone into that huge Progressive Field board. That would show them that we mean business in this battle of "who has the biggest scoreboard". -
Game 8 Sox @ Twinkies (Wednesday) Eaton (3): Rollins (3): Abreu (1): brett05 Frazier (1): Melky (3): Avi (3): Lawrie (3): Catcher (3): Jackson (3): Jose Abreu

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 12, 2016 -> 02:24 PM) This was covered awhile ago, they said it never actually made contact that he turned it off before it got there. Why do people think there is damage then? -
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 12, 2016 -> 01:00 PM) They will almost certainly try and avoid the super 2 designation. When would that be, first week of June? I remember hearing that about Rodon, but he came up in mid-April. How did that happen? I forgot

Internal alternatives to Avisail Garcia
Jose Abreu replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 12, 2016 -> 12:53 PM) The team is 5-2 and in first place. Why do you hope things get better? When people were booing Danks at the home opener the Cleveland broadcast crew said something along the lines of from the sounds of it, you would think the White Sox are 11 games back. Why can't White Sox fans enjoy 5-2? Avi has had a slow start and he probably isn't any good, but he is better than a .160 hitter with a .530 OPS. It would be shocking if Jose Abreu doesn't have a 7 game stretch where he puts up a .530 OPS or less. It happens. because the Cubs are 6-1 -

QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 12, 2016 -> 12:56 PM) What does this mean? Are you pointing out that you would prefer Coats? That's fine, but you asked why the Ishikawa love and I answered that his limited appeal is he hits RHP better than our alternatives. No, I was referencing the Ishikawa references from page 1. I don't know if he'd really hit RHP better than Avi. There's a reason the guy averages about 50 plate appearances per season since 2012. -

I don't get the Ishikawa love. Avi is a better hitter. -

I'd go with Jason Coats (even over Sands) if Avi is still his old self after May. -
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 12, 2016 -> 07:51 AM) Why is Sands even on the roster? He's appeared in 1 of 7 games and that 1 was only because we were getting blown out. He's very redundant as many here projected Another pitcher would be far more useful. Aumont or someone.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 11, 2016 -> 11:32 PM) You complain about Panik yet see no issue with Brandon freaking Mashinter on the 3rd line? Mashinter better not see a minute of playoff ice unless injuries hit the fan. Panik has earned playing time. I did see an issue with it, which is why I asked for Weise.
