Well, if it wasn't clear our FO had an issue when we did absolutely nothing- didn't buy nor sell- at the deadline when we were 2 GB of the WC, then this does.

Starting pitching options post Cespedes

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 11:39 AM) Am I crazy for thinking they should kick the tires on Lincecum? Of course only if his workout next month goes well, and only if he won't cost a fortune. *waits for backlash* I agree with you. -
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 01:12 PM) Diamondbacks? They have a young defensive stud at SS. Nick Ahmed.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 01:03 PM) That's why they're saying he's flexible in moving to the OF. If he can also play other infield positions and LF, his market may be stronger. His defense would probably be pretty bad in the OF.
-
The problem with Gardner is that he has made 1 career appearance in RF, so Melky would probably have to shift to RF anyway, like if we had Cespedes.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 08:24 AM) If you're the Yankees, who would you be willing to accept from the Sox for Gardner? Same thing with for Taylor/Nats...Adams and Hawkins? He was the 38th rated prospect in baseball a year ago. Profar in the outfield? There has to be someone. And that's the issue. Aside from the fact that the Sox FO has taken this roster on a road trip and stopped 75% of the way there, that's another issue with completing it. We've gotten all of our new/more valuable resources via the trade market. Free agency is where we need[ed] to strike, as it will be difficult for us to make trades without giving up valuable assets.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 08:22 AM) Gardner is pretty much an older version of Eaton. Exactly what I was about to post. Probably the best comparison. Not sure about how they compare defensively, though.

You'd think that circadian rhythms would have prevented him from oversleeping.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 01:10 PM) One thing on Hawaiian islands, I assume you'll rent a car. The islands aren't big and you can go around to the different parts within a few hours (farthest). Kuaia was my favorite, less developed than Maui is now. If you want to just chill and hike, I don't think you'll fail with any of them. I loved Maui. I would strongly recommend it to anyone, because it has positives for all potential vacationers.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 07:24 AM) Expectation among some parties in the talks is that Cespedes will make his choice in the next 24 to 48 hours. https://twitter.com/Buster_ESPN/status/690524696950001664 We heard that about 40 hours ago...

QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 09:06 PM) Glad to see the Sox bring him back. Kind of surprised no other team out there wanted to bring him in. He finished strong last season. I believe the Mets had interest

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 10:04 PM) Watch it be the Beijing Ducks. Cespedes plays basketball too? Wow.

QUOTE (Baron @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 03:51 PM) Jerry CrasnickVerified account @jcrasnick 47m47 minutes ago #Brewers, #Angels, #Rangers have kicked the tires on free agent OF Austin Jackson. #Cubs could be a fit for the right price. https://twitter.com/jcrasnick Since the Cespedes saga seems to be nearing an end I thought I'd post this. Good news is his market is picking up. Bad news is we arent mentioned. I think that's good news.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 03:57 PM) I have a feeling something will happen today yeah, we signed Matt Albers
-
raBBit, are you hearing anything??!!!??!?!??!?!?
-
The signing of Matt Albers has to be the first of two big signings for us today
-
Good deal.

QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 02:46 PM) then some shouldn't make assumptions. If you're implying that I misinterpreted your post, you are the one who said we drafted John Danks twice.
-
QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 02:36 PM) ahhh yet another attempt by you to make yourself look ummmm well you can fill in that for yourself. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/danksjo02.shtml This is the link you should be posting: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/danksjo01.shtml This is who we were talking about.

QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 02:18 PM) i still maintain that it was all JR doing.... for this main reason. this is not a jump on JR rant. the sox really like the danks brothers and drafted jon twice. the first time Borasrse was his agent. then they, the danks got rid of the agent and then signed with the sox.... i am skipping parts. JR must have felt he owed jon a contract b/c jon trusted jr..... so jr returned the favor.... no one will say that jr never turned his back on anyone if they went to bat for jr. that loyalty is why i have always like of him and still does. loyalty in this age, this kind of loyalty is rare. What? Didn't the Sox trade for Danks from the Rangers?

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 02:15 PM) Again, who said they want him for more than 3 years? The Nationals
-
QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 02:11 PM) That whole waiting out the OF thing worked out pretty well for the Sox... Gordon back to KC, Upton to Det, etc. Can't say I'm surprised because this organization is a s*** show sometimes but still pretty disappointed. Like some poster here said, we took a road trip and stopped 3/4 of the way there.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 02:10 PM) No matter where he signs just please sign by tonight. I'd rather he sign with us this weekend than Washington tonight...
-
Ugh.

He hit .218 last year. No reason to be upset that we didn't sign him, unless for AAA
