  1. Going to bed, hoping to wake up to similar "Sox trade for Samardzija and sign Robertson" news like I did last year after the first night of the Winter Meetings
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 05:03 PM) Weren't the Sox extremely close to acquiring Upton last off-season? So couldn't he have been right on Shark and wrong on Upton previously? Kenny was supposedly pretty ticked we didn't end up with Upton last off-season. I presume Anderson would have been a part of that deal with the Braves. Well, everyone knew we were getting Shark. It was heavily rumored weeks before the winter meetings. This guy wrongly assumed Anderson was being traded to Oakland. He has 30 followers and 75% of his tweets are "[insert team here] signs [insert player here] to a [insert length and money here] contract.", then he deletes the ones that end up being obnoxiously wrong.
  3. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 04:46 PM) What does this even mean? lol They're song lyrics.
  4. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 12:58 PM) Response to the "Stay Down Until You Come Up 100" tweet: Rick Slattery ‏@rickslat123 3m3 minutes ago @TimAnderson7 enjoy Oakland. But glad to see Shark and Upton on the southside. Could be a random guy, or could be his best friend. Rickslat is just a troll. See my post from last year's Samardzija rumors ^
  5. QUOTE (dayan024 @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 04:48 PM) @rickslat123 Sources: Justin Upton @JUST_JUP agrees to contract with @whitesox. Deal roughly 6/135. #mlb #MLBWinterMeetings Does this guy have any credibility seems like he had the Robertson to Whitesox the day before he signed Lol no.
  6. Yeah, I'm officially worried. They have to go 51-9 or better to get it. It's possible.
  7. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 12:06 PM) Will he go back to closing for them with Holland out for the year? Or will it be Wade Davis?
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 12:14 PM) You guys really struggle with the concept of no catch alls. One could make the argument for the majority of the threads in PHT being catch-alls. Some are more obvious than others, but it's really just open to interpretation.
  9. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 10:49 AM) Soria to Royals 3/$25M Will he go back to closing for them with Holland out for the year? Or will it be Wade Davis?
  10. Upton is nowhere near the power hitter that Adam Dunn was, though.
  11. Sox had expressed interest in Saltalamacchia (spelling) before they signed Navarro/Avila.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 10:33 PM) Upton is definitely a power hitter. We'd have at least one to go with Abreu in returning to some lift and pull action in a small ballpark. Is he a free agent? Won't he require about 25 to 30 mill a year? I mean he definitely has the potential to hit 30 HR in the Cell. I don't think he's as much of a power hitter as you think. He has hit 30 HRs one season in his career.
  13. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 09:44 PM) I'm okay with Upton if they get rid of Melky and trade Eaton. Avi-Trayce-Upton is a much better OF. You want to get rid of our two best outfielders for Garcia and a purely defensive outfielder?
  14. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 09:40 PM) A 28 year old free agent who would be our cornerstone outfielder? Would love this for about 18-20 per. Do it. Don't forget the QO loss. Also, Eaton is probably better.
  15. QUOTE (daggins @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 09:38 PM) Lawrie was regarded as above average defensively but UZR hated him last year for some reason. He should be average to above. Upton isn't great but as long as he is playing a corner he should be fine. Huge upgrade over Avi in pretty much all regards. I would guess signing Upton moves TNT to 4th OF. He would probably see a lot of late inning action and starts against lefties (either as DH or LF, with Melky DHing) I think it's possible that J.B. Shuck is the 4th OF and TNT starts the year in AAA.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 09:37 PM) Not a bad strategy today, but they better make sure Jansen is on board. Some closers don't take well to demotions, especially when not performance related. Agreed. See 2015 Washington Nationals. It ended with the new closer strangling the team golden boy.
  17. QUOTE (spiderman @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 09:34 PM) Defense matters, especially when the White Sox have the makings of a pretty solid pitching staff. How do Lawrie and Upton rank defensively? If the White Sox were to acquire Upton, would that mean more Thompson (for his defense) in CF (or RF)? Upton's a better defender than Avi
  18. Shoutout to raBBit for reporting it by the way
  19. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 09:02 PM) Upton is a good player and would be a fine addition to the team but not for the draft pick we will lose and the contract he will get. Well put.
  20. He is now the sole owner of the longest point streak in CHI history
  21. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 08:16 PM) Bob Nightengale predicted the Sox sign Upton. When it comes to the Sox, he's basically always right. Sox are signing Justin Upton, guys.
  22. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 07:30 PM) Hypothetically, if Schwarber did come to the Sox in a deal, where exactly would he play? DH I'm assuming? Yes, his defense elsewhere is terrible. He is, however, a stellar defensive DH
  23. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 06:22 PM) Santana's value was higher than Sale's. The difference is going to be contracts. The argument is that his contract is worth at least a 3rd top 10 prospect in baseball. I'm arguing it's really not. Santana was already the sure fire best pitcher in baseball and best of his generation at the time. It's the equivalent of Clayton Kershaw being traded by the Dodgers right now. The extra years of team control and the price of very similar production outweigh the fact that Santana was considered the best in baseball at the time IMO.
