QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 10:58 AM) After the game, Noah said this, which made me think he wasn't upset with Portis, but maybe he wasn't aware of what happened? I also haven't read anything anywhere on this, where are you getting this? I saw the link to the video of Portis yelling on the Bulls Realgm forum, where people were saying that he upset the team in doing so. Perhaps that isn't what he was saying? Was anyone able to watch the video I linked a couple of posts ago? I haven't had time to yet.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 10:37 AM) Never made it yesterday as my tee time got moved up. Ill go over there today before lunch. Alright, thanks. Appreciate it

QUOTE (59th street @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 01:43 PM) I thought there was a rule that prohibited a team from re-signing their own free agent until after the next regular season was underway? Does anyone KNOW if that rule is still in effect??; or am I having a Roger Clemens monent and "mis-remembering". Not still in effect. We can sign him

He was much better from July 1-end of the year than he was before then. He hit better and IIRC, he was the best defensive SS in baseball in July. He still has value and he'll likely be back. Hard to believe he has been on our team for 8 years.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 09:26 AM) Ill run by Gunzos today as I wanted to pick up a sweatshirt anyway, ill let you know. Did you see it being sold there?

Yikes. Weeks of hearing about how great of a guy he was and how he's so respected, and you find he's a criminal. I feel very bad for his family.

The 40-man, Rule 5, and roster decisions

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 10:18 AM) Herrera was better than everyone in the draft combined. Oh s***, that's the Herrera from Philly? I thought his name was Odubel, not David. -
Apparently, in between 26:30 and 26:46 in this video, Bobby Portis shouted "PLAY ME!" multiple times, which isn't sitting well with his teammates.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 10:00 AM) I think we've all watched enough sports to know not to extrapolate first month results over the whole year, and enough blackhawks to not give up on them after 1 month. If they are 5+ points behind with a month to go I'll begin to be slightly worried. Agreed. We're also playing without one of the best defensemen in hockey.

The 40-man, Rule 5, and roster decisions

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 4, 2015 -> 09:04 AM) Two years ago they picked 3rd. Also worth noting is the list of players taken after DeShields. 4. Houston Astros: RHP Jason Garcia, Red Sox 5. Minnesota Twins: RHP J.R. Graham, Braves 6. Boston Red Sox: RHP Jandel Gustave, Astros 7. Chicago Cubs: SS Taylor Featherston, Rockies 8. Philadelphia Phillies: IF David Herrera, Rangers 9. Miami Marlins: LHP Andrew McKirahan, Cubs 10. New York Mets: LHP Sean Gilmartin, Twins 11. Atlanta Braves: RHP Daniel Winkler, Rockies 12. Seattle Mariners: LHP David Rollins, Astros 13. Baltimore Orioles: RHP Logan Verrett, Mets Good point. The only players there I've even heard of are Featherston and Graham. -
Bulls need to get their defense together if they want a chance vs OKC tomorrow. 130 points to the lowly Hornets in unacceptable. Thibs is probably sitting at home laughing at us.

Eaton, flowers, Brantley and Micah johnson have surgeries
Jose Abreu replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I hope this happened a while ago, as the news on Eaton came out a month ago. -
QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 01:00 PM) I don't really think number of games is a good standard for measuring HR frequency. When the discrepancy is that large, it doesn't matter.

Nationals screw over Bud Black, hire Dusty Baker

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 11:53 AM) Thanks, good to know. I cannot stress enough how invisible the padres are to me as a franchise. They could be contracted today and I'd not notice a difference next year. Honestly, a lot of NL team fans probably feel that about us. -
Our infield should be Abreu/Sanchez/Ramirez/FA or trade with Saladino as our utility guy. No Beckham.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 09:03 AM) Best bets are near the stadium most likely. Ill check Gunzos QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 09:07 AM) Blackhawks Store on Michigan Avenue Thanks. I tried the Oak Brook Blackhawks store but was out of luck.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 08:24 AM) I've said it before, but Bryant & Russell are untouchable. Everyone else is fair game. I find the Starlin Castro proposals to be beyond ridiculous. He has almost no value no matter badly as the Cubs want to hype him as a stud middle infielder. Agreed. It's not just his attitude and effort that turns me off, but also his very inconsistent hitting and his contract.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 06:26 AM) Cubs get a solid pitcher in quintana and a potential stud in spencer who has a ways to go before making his MLB debut seeing as he’s only like 19 years old (at LEAST 2 years away…. more likely 3-4). Sox get the young position prospects they DESPERATELY need. They get a better SS in Castro over having to keep worse Alexei Ramirez…. regardless what Sox fans say. Castro’s down year this year is not too far off a typical Ramirez year. They also get a HR masher in Vogelbach who has superb plate discipline to play 1B/DH with Abreu. They get a solid hitting catching prospect in Zagunis. They get a gold glove in waiting in Almora who scouts say could hit about .280 or better and develop into a 20 HR hitter…… especially playing in US Cellular. And I’ll throw in pierce johnson as a toss in. Projects to be a 3-4 starter if he pans out. Cough up 1 ML pitcher and a pitching prospect for 4 players who could address almost all the Sox weaknesses on offense within 2 years. It at least gives you positional prospect hope. Looked at the top position prospects the Sox have listed on their website……. it’s pretty ugly. This hypothetical trade is more than fair imo. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/10/offs...hite-sox-6.html Yes, Dan Vogelbach, the great HR "masher", who has 60 career home runs in 411 minor league games. To give you a reference point, Kris Bryant had 55 home runs in 181 minor league games.

The issue with all of these fan made Cubs/Sox trade proposals is that Cubs fans are too set on not giving up any of the big prospects (Bryant/Schwarber/Russell) and instead make players like Starlin Castro and Javy Baez centerpieces, while Sox fans are too set on getting 1-2 of the big three prospects while also receiving a Javier Baez or an Albert Almora on the side. There has to be a middle ground. They're undervaluing our pitchers and we're overvaluing them.

Are Panarin shirseys sold anywhere? I can't find one online and I can't custom-make one because it "violates the NHL.com player customization rules"

Derrick Rose says there's "no point" in shooting when he can't see, so he's going to be more of a distributor until his vision comes back. I say we'll see.
-
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 10:26 PM) Oh sure the Sox could use a DH. But in this day and age, you need one who has a position. And the Cubs aren't trading Schwarber anyway. I think they might trade Schwarber. It's obvious that he's a DH playing in a league that doesn't have one.

WS 2016 LAD 1st, Cubs 2nd, KC tied for 11th, Sox tied 18th
Jose Abreu replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 04:25 PM) That is actually statistical analysis. That makes some sense. Vegas odds are nothing more than conversation fodder. I know, my point is that you can't statistically analyze the 2016 [insert MLB team name here] because rosters can change dramatically over the next couple months. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 09:01 AM) Odds are measures of how fans are betting, not what level of reality something has of actually happening. I guess my post was also about the projections that came out a week or two ago that had us at 70-something wins. -
How is the value of a star WR/elite deep threat with no off the field issues a 2nd round pick? Hell, Jeffery was a 2nd round pick who plays as if he was in the top 10. Why would we trade him for what is essentially a do-over at drafting him? Also, White-Wilson-Royal-Meredith isn't a very promising WR group.
