  1. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 07:28 PM) Where is Davis going to play? Abreu is at first and LaRoche will be the DH. Technically, he plays 3B, LF, and RF, but his defense is probably abysmal there.
  2. Don't forget us wining the Crosstown Cup and Bryant finishing the season 0-6 with 6 strikeouts vs Sale.
  3. QUOTE (Dunt @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 06:10 PM) Ugh, Dickerson? My bad, he was hurt for most of the year so I forgot about him.
  4. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 06:05 PM) Let's not forget the Rockies already have better outfielders than Avi, Micah can't stay healthy and the Rockies already have a better 2B in LaMahieu, Beck only pitched 54 innings this year due to elbow inflammation, Montas needs more time to see if he can stick as a starter so the only thing enticing in that package from the Rockies POV is an under-sized starting pitcher by the name of Fulmer. I don't think the Rockies just say no, they say f*** no and laugh off into the sunset. They have CarGo and Blackmon in the OF. Avi would have a spot there. Micah isn't necessarily a 2B, he has the tools to be converted to something else. I know Beck was injured, so what? Doesn't mean he can't be traded. He's just a throw-in. Montas does need more time- when did I say he would be thrown right into their rotation? Fulmer has all-star potential as a SP.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 06:03 PM) The person you commissioned to clone Montas has announced that you cannot afford their cloning service. They've said no. Maybe I meant this guy.
  6. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 06:00 PM) I agree, but if he can play an elite CF with hitting 250-260 with 15+ HRs, I'll take it. .250 to .260? I don't think he'll be that good. 15 home runs is possible though.
  7. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 05:58 PM) Extend Qualifying Offer to SP Jeff Samardzija- he declines, Sox get a comp pick Pick up 10 option for SS Alexei Ramirez Resign: RP Matt Albers 1 year/3 million C Tyler Flowers 1 year/2 million Sign via Free Agency: RF Jason Heyward 8 years/180 million (opt out clause after 4 years/100 million) Trades: White Sox trade RP Zach Putnam to the Houston Astros for C Jason Castro White Sox trade 3B Trey Michalczewski, SP Frankie Montas, OF Avi Garcia, and SP Tyler Danish for 3B Todd Frazier and SP Jonathan Crawford Rotation/Bullpen: SP Chris Sale (L) SP Jose Quintana (L) SP Carlos Rodon (L) SP Erik Johnson SP John Danks (L) (Until Fulmer is ready) RP Scott Carroll (Long Man) RP Dan Jennings (L) RP Jake Petricka RP Zach Duke (L) RP Matt Albers RP Nate Jones CP David Robertson Lineup: LF Adam Eaton (L) 1B Jose Abreu RF Jason Heyward (L) 3B Todd Frazier DH Melky Cabrera (S) CF Trayce Thompson C Jason Castro (L) SS Alexei Ramirez 2B Carlos Sanchez (S) Bench: OF J.B Shuck 1B Adam LaRoche C Tyler Flowers UTIL Tyler Saladino After this year the Sox would free up 38 million by letting Ramirez, LaRoche, and Danks go. Do you know how bad Jason Castro has been offensively the past two years? No way he'd bat over Alexei and Sanchez. And 8/180 for Heyward? I think he'd want something like 8/260.
  8. Yes, he has. I think his hitting is a fluke, but his defense is worthy of him being the 2016 center fielder
  9. Who says no? A. Garcia, Fulmer, M. Johnson, Beck, and Montas for Arenado and Jairo Diaz
  10. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 05:15 PM) Kinda funny how many people including here said why did the Rangers get Hamels at the deadline when they were 50-52. This is why We had a better record than them a couple days before the deadline. Who knows what would have happened if we were buyers...
  11. QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 04:23 PM) Those guys are all better, obviously, but I think if you're top ten in a franchise this old, you definitely count as "one of the best." He's 7th on the list of bWAR for the Sox is within 3 wins of #4. If you want fWAR, then he's #5. Also, not to sound like one of those "did you see him play!?" guys, but you were six years old in '05 so I'm not sure you have the right perspective on Buehrle. I'm surprised that his fWAR is as high as it is among Sox pitchers. And yes, I only watched him from 06-now, but I know exactly how important he was to the 05 team. Pre-05, his numbers don't look like a #1 pitcher. Even with his 3.29 ERA in 2001, his FIP was 4.10.
  12. I personally think we should pick up Alexei's option. He came around both offensively and defensively as the year went on. Saladino would provide similar or better defense, but his hitting would be atrocious as an everyday player.
  13. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 05:09 PM) Perfect way for the Sox to end another crap season...go out with a wimper on offense. Mark Right, because we should've scored runs with that tanking, AA lineup we put on the field today.
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 04:59 PM) He'll cut back next year. I just hope Swirsky starts acting like pbp guy and not an interviewer, or they get somebody else. I kind of like his interview-style because it plays more to Stone's ill-utilized strengths. But it would be nice if he toned it down a bit
  15. and this season is ovah. it was doomed from the start with Samardzija sucking on opening day. the winning streak in July was nice though. We had a better record than the now first place Rangers at the time.
  16. Anyway, 0.2 innings pitched due to bad defense? Yikes. Does he really want to leave baseball on that note?
  17. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 03:13 PM) It was a catch. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 03:02 PM) Am I the only one who thinks the Cooper TD from the 1st half was incomplete? His first foot was down, but he didn't have control of the ball at the time- he bobbled! I watched the replay in slow-motion several times... How is there definitive evidence that he had possession as his foot hit the ground?
  18. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 03:12 PM) Cutler was brilliant on this drive. Clausen is just terrible. Cutler shows flashes here and there but he'll make bonehead decisions once in a while. Sadly, this was one of his "shows flashes" drives.
  19. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 03:08 PM) He definitely is. Sabermetrics agree, his longevity and his production. Ed Walsh Chris Sale Wilbur Wood Eddie Cicotte Billy Pierce Red Faber Ted Lyons And then there are the pitchers who "put on a Sox uniform" but didn't spend their prime pitching seasons here. Don't get me wrong, Buehrle was a great pitcher for us, but let's not overrate him. His numbers aren't nearly as good as the posters here make them sound.
  20. Cutler throws a 60 yard pass to Cameron Meredith never heard of him
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 03:03 PM) I was surprised they overturned the call on the field but it was close The rule of thumb is you can't overturn unless there's definitive evidence, and IMO, the "evidence" was indubitably not definitive.
  22. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 02:56 PM) Missed PAT/not going for 2 on the 2nd td could kill the Bears here. Or help them in the long run for that number 1 pick depending on how you look at it. 20-19, should be 20-20... you're right
