FWIW, Dan Hayes, Tom Fornelli, and Scott Merkin conversed on Twitter last night about the Sox offseason. They speculated a signing of Zobrist, Cespedes, and they argued over whether trading Quintana could net a fair return.

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Sep 28, 2015 -> 07:49 AM) Rizzo aside, the White Sox were geniuses for Quintana, but the Cubs are geniuses for their whole roster. That team is brilliant and the rest of the organization is stacked. *checks username after reading post to confirm that it's AustinIllini*

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 27, 2015 -> 12:40 PM) Names officially on the cup. Notable omissions: Antii Raanta and Clint Reif. Just awful they didn't include Reif. Reif should be there. And didn't Raanta somewhat recently sound off on how much he hates us?

QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Sep 27, 2015 -> 11:17 AM) Baseball Reference has them at 19th in Wins Above Average. So you can pick your stat to support whatever case you want. Regardless the pitching is pretty good. Lineup is horrific. Isn't fWAR considered better than bWAR?

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Sep 27, 2015 -> 10:52 AM) 1st??? Holy s***! And that is despite early Noesi, the Danks highs n lows, & Shark being pure toilet? Amazing if that's true. Yup, first. We have Sale, Quintana, and Rodon to thank for that.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Sep 27, 2015 -> 12:05 AM) The Sox staff is 15th in team ERA. Middle of the pack. The Sox do have a playoff caliber pitching staff. I'm amazed that a Sox fan such as yourself would use ERA to try and prove that we have an average pitching staff after having watched games in which Sox pitchers allow "earned" runs that are clearly due to defensive miscues. The Sox are 8th in pitching fWAR and 1st in starting pitching fWAR. That looks like a playoff caliber staff to me.

I like the Seabrook deal. For those complaining about its length- you know Hossa is signed through 2021, right?

So far, I'm not impressed by 2K16.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 26, 2015 -> 11:52 AM) Battlefront is 100% online. There are no offline modes, which really blows. Damn. I don't know if I'll get it then.

QUOTE (Sox Fan In Husker Land @ Sep 26, 2015 -> 09:09 AM) QO to Samardizja. He turns it down, we get a top 40 pick along with a top 10 pick Bring back Alexei for a year until Anderson is ready. Try to resign Soto and split with Flowers at Catcher because we have other major issues to address. Somehow acquire Todd Frazier for 3B, if the NL to AL curse of hitting pops in at least you have good D at 3rd and a deadline piece at a key position if we suck. Trade Micah Johnson, Avi Garcia, Tyler Danish, and another throw in if necessary for Frazier. Try to keep Anderson, Fulmer, Montas, Adams, Michalczewski out of any deals. Sign Jason Heyward to 8 year $180 million deal, with player option after 3 years. 1st 3 years worth 3 years $80 million. $ for Heyward is there if we can offer Samardzija the deal we did. We also lose Danks & LaRoche following the 2016 season. And Melky after the 2017 season. It is doable. I know it's a pipe dream, but it vastly improves 2 of our major holes in 3B and RF all without giving up too much. It also upgrades our defense in the OF drastically. It also keeps our young, cheap controlled rotation together. Adam LaRoche is just a wasted space as a 1B/DH against RHP and a pinch hitter in the latter part of games until the end of the year. Vs. RHP CF Eaton L DH Abreu R RF Heyward L 3B Frazier R LF Cabrera S 1B LaRoche L SS Ramirez R C Flowers/Soto R 2B Sanchez S Bench OF Thompson R UTIL Saladino R OF Shuck L C Flowers/Soto R Vs. LHP LF Eaton L 1B Abreu R RF Heyward L 3B Frazier R DH Cabrera S CF Thompson R SS Ramirez R C Flowers/Soto R 2B Sanchez S Bench 1B/DH LaRoche L UTIL Saladino R OF Shuck L C Flowers/Soto R Pitching Staff Starters Sale LHP Quintana LHP Rodon LHP Johnson RHP Danks LHP Bullpen Robertson R CL Jones R SU Petricka R Putnam R Webb R Duke L Jennings L You would have Tim Anderson, Carson Fulmer, and Frankie Montas waiting in the wings to provide a boost to the line up or rotation/bullpen if need be by mid season. Cincy would never give up Frazier for your offer. We'd have to include much better players than Avi/Micah/Danish.

Baltimore came back out of nowhere. Their record was near the last place Red Sox record for a bit.

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 12:28 PM) How tall are you? I'm 16, almost 17 and I'm only 5'9" ish. There's a few really tall kids that I know, but none of them are that muscular. 16, and 6'3. Was supposed to be 5'10/5'11. I'm definitely not as muscular as this guy though My point is, there are definitely 16 year old kids out there who are close to, at, or above his height/weight, with myself being an example. -

QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 11:48 AM) Defensive Ranking Year - Points - Yards 2014 - 31st - 30th 2013 - 30th - 30th 2012 - 3rd - 5th (10-6 team record - Lovie fired) 2011 - 14th - 17th 2010 - 4th - 9th (lost in conf final) 2009 - 21st - 17th Yep, YEARS of amazing defense and special teams squandered. You're correct, though. He does get the majority of blame in your book. Defense was what carried the team during the bolded season, which was a choke job. Started 7-1 or something like that, missed the playoffs. Lovie deserved to be fired then. When the defense stopped playing, we stopped winning. I agree with you though. That's just two years of amazing defense. -
Alshon is out Sunday. Cutler is as well. Royal is questionable. Seahawks 63, Bears 3
